Chapter 58

LUNA POV

I tried to squint my eyes as the unfamiliar bedroom welcomed me the moment I opened my eyes. It seems I've been asleep for a long time. I felt my body heavy and numb. I forced myself to get up at least to sit on the bed. I tried to focus. I want to remember how I got here.

A flash of memory hits me, I remember how I jumped in the waterfalls just to escape from Lucas. The water current was so strong. I asked for help as I drowned. I lost breath and then, I don't remember what happened next.

I remember Lucas, oh, no. I turned around the room, don't tell me I'm in Lucas' home again? I shook my head, no it can't be.

The door opened and I prepared myself for what might come.

I was stunned to see Mrs. Fox coming in with a plate of food and water.

"Mrs. Fox?"

"Luna, I'm happy you're awake. The medicines I gave you were effective," she was happy while approaching me.

I'm confused. How did Mrs. Fox find me?

"You are shock dear," she laughed.

"How did you find me? I..." I can't continue my words.

"We found and saved you, Luna. We are just on time. I am glad you are safe now. You are safe here," she said.

"We? Ahm, you are not alone?" I inquired.

She nodded as she placed the plate and the glass on the table beside the bed.

"Yes, I have a companion. We both saved you. We've been looking for you for days already. We are lucky we found you on the day you were being chased by Lucas," she explained.

"Are you with Hector?" I remember my mate. The last time I saw him was when he fought Lucas in the woods. I am worried about Hector.

"No Luna, I'm with another person. Don't worry, you will meet him soon. He will be home in a few minutes," she told me.

I wonder who this man Mrs. Fox is talking about.

Right now, I am thankful that I am safe.

"Here Luna. Eat some food. You need to gain strength." she offered me. I missed her, especially her smile.

I grabbed the food she brought and ate. I admit I'm so hungry and thirsty at the moment.

"The foods were good. Thank you, Mrs. Fox. I feel so hungry,"

"That is just normal dear. You've been asleep for three days"

I almost choke. Three days? Is she kidding me?

"Woah! I'm asleep for 3 days?" I can't believe it.

"Yes, Luna. You almost died of drowning. Your body was tired as hell and needs recovery, that is why it took you three days before you woke up,"

"How about Hector? Do you have any news about him?" I asked. I am worried something bad happened to him.

"Sorry, Luna. I don't have any idea about Hector," she told me.

I closed my eyes as I tried to compose myself. I will never forgive myself if something happens to my mate.

"Luna, don't worry. I will do everything to contact your mate. Right now, we need to be careful. Lucas was there out looking for you. We need to make assure that he will not find you," she gave me a pat on my shoulder.

I went back to my plate and ate the remaining food. I heard noises downstairs. I can hear many dogs barking and growling.

"What is that Mrs. Fox?" I was a little nervous. I always think that it might be enemies coming for me every time I hear unfamiliar noises.

"Oh, I think that's Enrico," she replied.

"Enrico? Is he your companion?"

"Yes Luna, he was the one who helped you while you are fighting for your life in that river. Come, I want you to meet him." she invited.

I felt a different kind of feeling as I heard his name. I think I'm just excited to meet this good stranger.

Mrs. Fox helped me to go down the stairs. I admit, that I still have difficulty walking. We reached the living room. Mrs. Fox led me to the couch and made me comfortable.

A man in his early 50's came in. He was wearing a simple V-neck shirt and pants. He might be old, but his body was still in a good shape and I can say that he was handsome. His eyes and nose were, ahm, it's familiar. I think I saw them before but I can't remember.

He was looking at me and I can't see any expression on his face. He was a mysterious man.

He just look at me for a few seconds then he turned to Mrs. Fox.

"Betty, this place is safe. No need to worry. They can't find you here," he called Mrs. Fox by her first name. Maybe they knew each other for so long.

"That's good Enrico. By the way, Luna wants to meet you," Mrs. Fox said.

Enrico turned to look at me again and gave me a quick smile.

"Thank you for saving my life," I was hesitant to talk to him.

"You are welcome, Luna. Feel at home and make yourself comfortable here," he said as he left us in the living room.

I was speechless. He just gave me a few words and that's it, he left us. I wonder how he and Mrs. Fox knew each other.

"Mrs. Fox, are you and Enrico, friends?" I asked.

"Yes Luna, he is a good friend. Maybe you want to walk outside to breathe fresh air? I can help you walk. Let's go,"

I think that is a good idea. I need to be with nature so my body will recover again. The fresh air and a good ambiance were perfect for me.

Outside the house, there were lots of flowers. It blooms with beauty. The house was surrounded by huge trees. There were dogs walking nearby. Maybe Enrico loves to pet dogs.

The wind blew and it was a nice feeling. I turned to look at the house. It was simple and it's made of wood.

"Enrico's house is very beautiful Mrs. Fox. Is he alone in this place?"

"Yes Luna, he was living alone for a long time. He wants this," I heard the sadness in her tone. I felt curious to know more about Enrico. I can't explain why, but I think, I need to know everything about him.

I looked up the house, and in one of the windows, I saw him standing looking at us.

I can't pull my eyes away from him. I can feel like I am connected with this man. I can't read his expression.

Who is he?
