Chapter 45
LUNA POV
The sunlight greets me through the window. The curtains dances with the wind as it enters the room.
I looked outside from the window. It was a beautiful day. From where I am standing, I can see the tulips as they nodded their heads in the breeze. This mansion was surrounded by flowers. The view was enchanting.
Two knocks from the door interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see two attendants come with the breakfast on the plate. They invited me to eat. It was only then I realized that it was already past nine in the morning.
I slept late last night. After what I saw, it took me some time before I was able to sleep.
I ate the food quietly. I went to the shower to freshen up. When I came out, I saw an attendant preparing a simple yellow dress for me. She also helped me fix my hair and put a little makeup on my face.
Maybe this is how they treat the alpha's mate.
I remember Jasmine. She was naked last night in that room with Hector. I want to erase that memory. It only destroys my day.
"Where is Jasmine now?" I asked the attendant.
"Lady Jasmine left early this morning ma'am," she replied.
"How about Hector?" I asked again.
"He slept in the room together with Francis and Stefan. They drank wine the whole night," she said.
"I hope this attendant is telling the truth. I don't want to think that Hector and Jasmine slept together last night," I told myself.
After I fixed myself, I decided to go downstairs. I need to walk and breathe some fresh air. The flowers outside are inviting me.
Downstairs, I saw Hector waiting for me. I am still angry about last night.
He looked up at me as I went down the stairs. His gaze met mine. He makes my heart beat fast as always.
He was wearing a simple V-neck shirt and pants. He was the alpha now. But nothing has changed in the way he looks.
"Good morning baby," he smiled.
I just rolled my eyes and looked away from him.
"I know you are still upset. I'm sorry for last night," he said.
"I don't want to talk about it anymore Hector," I replied.
"May I invite you out today baby?" he said.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"I will tell you when we get there," he told me.
He reached for my hand and I wasn't able to say "no" anymore.
Outside the mansion, a bill black Chevrolet was waiting for us. I am not surprised anymore, he has many cars.
I can see on his face that he was happy today but I am still not in the mood.
He drove the car. While in the car he played music. The song was "Beautiful in White" by Shane Filan. I know that song. It was a wedding song but I don't care.
He drove the car from Portland to Cannon Beach in Oregon. It took us more than an hour on the road before we reached the place.
I haven't talked to him the whole time. I just tried to enjoy myself looking outside.
From the road where the car parked, my eyes caught the Haystack Rock from a distance. There are few people walking on the beach.
This is the first time I will see it up close.
I was scanning the place when I felt a hand on my hips.
"Let's go, baby. This is the perfect time to walk on the sand," he invited me.
I followed him to the seashore. The cold breeze embraces my skin. It was calming.
"What are we doing here?" maybe he wanted me to forget the bad memories from last night. Maybe this is his way to say sorry for everything.
"I need to tell you something Luna," his tone suddenly changed.
"If it's because of last night, please, I don't want to talk about it," I told him.
"Look at the Haystack rock baby. It was beautiful isn't it?" he said.
I gave him a confused look.
"Before, I looked at all women the same. I will throw a gaze at them and they will look back. And after that, we will fuck in bed and I will forget about them the next morning. I don't care what they feel. As long as they will pleasure me," he recalled.
"So, why are you telling me all of these Hector?" I rolled my eyes and he laugh.
"What's funny?" I sarcastically asked.
"Nothing, you are so cute when you're angry baby," he laughed again.
"You know Hector, I don't have much time for your dramas. Can you go straight to the point," I insisted.
"Everything changed when you came Luna. I admit I felt a different connection the first time I saw you. My life changed, the moment I felt the mate bond between us," he added.
He cupped my face to meet his crystal eyes.
"I love you, Luna. I am willing to give up everything for you. I will protect you even if my life will be at risk. You are my love and my life." he said.
His words hit me. The anger inside slowly melts away. I can see he was sincere. It was reflected in his eyes.
"I love you too Hector. I'm so scared to lose you." I gasped.
"Luna, you know the reason I accepted the role of alpha, is because of you. I need to protect you. I am willing to disobey the council's rules just to have you, Luna," he declared.
"Hector..." I was speechless.
"Will you marry me?" Hector said and I was stunned.
I wasn't able to answer him. Did I hear it right?
"Luna Murphy, will you marry me?" he asked again.
My mouth was left open. I was startled.
"Luna, will you marry me," he repeated.
I felt tears roll down my eyes as I nodded and gave him a tight hug.
"Yes, I do. Yes Hector," I cried.
He hugged me back.
"I love you, baby, Thank you," his voice cracked.
I looked up to him. His eyes were red.
"Are you crying, Hector?" I asked as I chuckled.
He looked away. It was really funny to see him this way. He has his soft spot too.
"I think, it's just the dust Luna. And of course, I'm happy because you said "yes", we both giggled.
I don't care if the people saw us. Having the man I love in this beautiful place is truly amazing.
Hector pulled out a ring from his pocket. His hands were shaking as he placed the ring on my finger.
An alpha looks so nervous in front of his mate. This is so funny.
"The ring looks beautiful on your finger Luna," he playfully said.
I smiled and kissed his cheeks.
"Thank you, this is beautiful," I sighed.
He moved closer to me. Much closer that he doesn't care if this is a public place.
I felt his warm breath tickles in my ears.
"You and I will get married tomorrow. Are you ready?" he whispered.
