Chapter 56

LUNA POV

I felt so happy to see my mate alive. I knew he was alive. He came for me. I heard his wolf talking in my mind. I followed what he said and pulled Elli away from the fighting.

I felt worried for my mate. Lucas was so furious when he attacked Hector. I am panting hard and my feet were getting tired. Elli stopped running and I turned to look at her. She looks so weak.

"Elli, are you alright?" she looks pale. I would not be surprised anymore, she's been locked up in that cell with less water and food.

I tried to help her stand. Her hands were trembling.

"Elli, don't give up. We need to run and save our lives. Hector will come for us soon," I told her.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Luna. Sorry because I betrayed you. Sorry because I was blinded by my love for Lucas." she sobbed.

I hugged and calmed her.

"It's alright Elli. Forget about it."

"You've been good to me all your life. You treated me as your sister but I betrayed you and put your life in danger," she continued.

"Elli, stop crying. I want you to compose yourself. We need to run away." I convinced her.

She nodded and we both started to run again.

The forest was huge. I am not sure where we are now. I know Hector can find my scent soon.

I heard a loud howl from the distance and I froze. I'm not sure whose wolf was that.

Elli on my side collapsed. She's getting weaker.

"Luna, I can't run anymore. I don't have much strength to run. I feel so tired." she said.

"Maybe we can rest for a while," I replied.

"You can go and leave me here Luna. It's Ok. You need to save your life,"

I shook my head.

"No, I will not leave you here, Elli," I will never leave her behind. I will never do that.

"Please Luna, you need to save your life," she sighed.

"No, Elli. You could not convince me on this," I assured her I will not leave.

"Elli, look at me. We need to go together," I hold her hand. I want to give her hope.

She smiled and I recognized that smile. It was her smile, the one I used to see for years.

She stood up and I helped her. We tried to walk as fast as we could. We need to find a safe place while waiting for Hector to come.

We were walking in the woods when we heard the sound of the twigs. It was an unusual sound. We saw movement in the nearby bush. I hope it was Hector but I was wrong. It was not a grey wolf that emerged but a black wolf. It was Lucas.

Elli went closer to me. She was also afraid of Lucas. I can see anger in the way he looks at us.

The wolf shift into his human form. There was blood all over his body. I remember Hector.

"What did you do to my mate?" I yelled at him.

"I gave him a deep wound. I don't think he would survive" he confidently said.

"You demon. I will kill you." I shouted.

"No, you can't love. You are helpless. You can't fight me," he was walking closer to us.

"Stop this bullshit, Lucas. Let us go. Have pity on us" Elli spoke beside me.

"Oh, you piece of shit! Don't interrupt us. I don't care about you, all I care about is Luna. You can run if you want but Luna is mine," he laughed.

"Stay away from me Lucas. You are disgusting!" I want to stab him with a knife. If only I will be given the chance.

He stopped to look at me in the face down to my body. I felt that he was undressing me by the way he threw a gaze at me.

"Come with me, Luna. I promise I will not hurt you," he lifts his hand convincing me.

I stepped backward giving him an angry look.

"In your dreams Lucas,"

I saw his jaw clenched and moved forward to grab my hair.

I felt a burning pain in my scalp as he tightened his grip.

I tried to kick him and punch his chest but he was too strong. He dragged me away from Elli and I can't fight back.

I saw Elli running towards us and I felt something hit Lucas on his back.

It was Elli holding a log. She hits Lucas on the back many times until I was able to free myself from him.

Lucas was able to break the log and squeezed Elli's neck. She was gasping for air in front of me.

I get up to reach for a rock. I was able to hit Lucas in his head and he stumbled to the ground. I saw blood flowing from his head.

I've got the chance to help Elli. We both run away from him.

I heard him shift and howl. He is running towards us.

His wolf was fast and he is coming near. Lucas blocked us away and I saw horror seeing him in front of us.

"Luna, run!" Elli shouted as he pushed me away.

I almost run away but when I turned to look at them, Lucas was now above Elli.

"No!" I shouted.

But I was late, Lucas sank his sharp teeth into Elli's neck. I saw blood and my vision went blurry.

My chest tightened and I almost fainted.

I was about to run to my best friend but I suddenly heard the mysterious voice in my mind again.

"Luna, run. Run away!" the voice was very clear.

I didn't protest instead I followed its command.

I run as fast as I could. My mind was blank, I can't even think well. I just kept on running.

It is as if everything was coming into a slow motion. Hector, Elli...

I called for their names on my mind.

I was out of breath when I reached a river. It was not that deep. I know Lucas was coming behind me.

I walked on the river. I don't care if I get wet. The water current was getting strong. I don't know where it would lead me. As long as I could escape from Lucas.

I reached the end of the river when I realized it was a waterfall. This part was shallow but down there was deep.

I turned around to see the black wolf coming in my direction.

"Luna jump, this is the only way to escape from Lucas. Trust me Luna, jump." the voice said.

I took a deep breath and followed the voice.

I jumped.
