Chapter 51

HECTOR POV

We returned to the mansion together with my men. We roamed the vast land and even searched the nearby lands, but we can’t find Lucas. There wasn’t even a single trace of my mate. I was so angry. I want to hurt myself for allowing this to happen. She was in the mansion, I thought she was safe here. But in an instant, the enemy was able to have her. Stefan ran to approach me.

“Hector, someone betrayed us and allowed those enemies to come to the mansion and create trouble so everyone’s attention will transfer to them,” he declared.

I closed my eyes as anger rose within me.

“Do you have any idea who betrayed us?”

Stefan shook his head.

“The guards who are guarding the main gate were poisoned early this morning when you are not around. Someone is covering up so we can’t determine who is it.” He said.

I can sense that this person is close to me. He knows my every movement. I should not trust the people around me.

“Stefan, I want you to double the guards around my land. We need to avoid any enemies from coming in again" I gave a command.

He nodded and left me in the living room.

An attendant came to serve me some wine. I've been out in the woods the whole day searching for my mate. I need to find her the soonest as possible.

I heard footsteps coming. I turned to see Francis.

"Are you alright man?" he patted my shoulder.

"I'm trying to be fine Francis."

He gave me a smile. As always, Francis would make it a point to calm me down with his presence. He is one of my trusted friends. He and Stefan had been by my side for so long years.

"You need to rest Hector. We will continue searching for your mate," he said.

"Thank you, men. I don't know what to do if without you and Stefan,"

"We will always be here for you Hector," Francis said as he showed me a bottle of wine in his hands.

"Here, I know you are tired. As always wine can make you feel better. So I brought you one." he offered

“I think this one is enough, Francis." I showed him the wine the attendants brought.

"No, you need to try this one. It tastes much better than that." he insisted.

"Alright, let me try this one," I reached for the bottle of wine in his hand. I poured some of it into my glass.

"So, while you are drinking, I need to go Hector. I still need to find your mate. I made a promise anyway"

I gave him a hug before he left.

I smell the wine he gave me, it smells good.

I was about to take my first sip when Carlito, one of my men came.

He was panting and he looked very tired.

"What is it Carlito?"

"Alpha, a group of rogues attacked our wolves in the woods. But don't worry, our men were able to put them down," he said.

"Thank you, Carlito,"

Another man came. It's Marvin. He was also panting.

"Alpha there were trapped on the North. Five of our men were badly injured. They are now being treated in the clinic," he reported.

I massaged my temple. I can feel the pressure and stress at the same time.

"Alpha, I'm thirsty. Can I have some wine," he said as he gave me a smile.

I frowned. Well, this is Carlito as always.

"Alright, here's my glass. I never tasted this wine. But Francis said that it was really good. So here, have a try," I gave him my glass.

Marvin also approached and I know what he also wants. I knew them for so long. They are one of my trusted men for years. We trained in the mountains. I want them to be one of my best fighters.

"Here Marvin, drink some wine. This will make you feel better."

The two men sat on the sofa and enjoyed the wine that Francis gave me.

I lose the urge to drink wine tonight. I'm worried as hell. I want to see my mate.

I left them in the living room to go to my room. If this didn't happen, maybe I and Luna were enjoying our honeymoon at this time. My bed will be lonely without my mate tonight.

I took a deep breath as I opened the door. I locked the room. I want to be alone and have enough rest tonight.

I turned to my bed when I saw Jasmine standing. She was wearing grey lingerie and she is giving me that seductive look again.

"What are you doing in my room, Jasmine?" I asked her.

She slowly walked closer to me and reached for my face.

"I know my alpha will be lonely tonight without his mate, so I went here to be with you. I want to pleasure you," she said in a seductive tone.

I used my hands to push her away.

"I don't have time for your bullshit Jasmine, get out of my room!" I yelled.

I wanted to prohibit her from entering the mansion. She can't enter this mansion next time without my permission.

Her expression changed. I saw her tear his clothes and she was left naked in front of me.

"What are you doing Jasmine? Do you think you can seduce me?" I felt disgusted with her action.

"Don't tell me you are not attracted to my body, Hector. Remember, we fucked each other many times. I made you moan for my name many times. And now, you are acting as if you didn't like it?" she shouted.

"Get out! Now!" I pointed my finger to the door. I want her out of my sight.

Instead of leaving, she approached me and tried to kiss me. I avoided her and tried to stop her.

She slapped me in the face and it really hurts. I gave her an angry stare. I don't have time for her bullshit. I am desperate to look for my mate.

"I hate you. I hate you Hector!" she cried as she reached for her clothes and stormed out of the room.

She is really getting on my nerves these past few days.

I was about to lay down on my bed when I heard knocks on my door.

"What now?!" It is like people don't want me to have rest.

I opened the door to see an attendant. She was scared and her hands were shaking.

"What happened?"

"A-alpha, Carlito, and Marvin were dead," she trembles in front of me.

"What? It was just a few minutes ago when I left them in the living room. They were enjoying the wine!" I told the attendant.

It is impossible that enemies will attack the mansion by this time.

"Aa...alpha, Carlito and Marvin, they’ve been poisoned" she replied.
