Chapter 57
HECTOR POV
My wound was deep and I can't stand the pain. I lost much blood after Lucas penetrated another wound in my arm and shoulder.
My wolf tried to stand and my visions were moving. I need to run and find my mate. Lucas will surely be on his way to get her.
I ran deeper into the forest to trace her scent. I reached a place, she was here a while ago. Her scent was strong in this place.
I forced my feet to take another step but my body gave up. My chest tightened and I can't run anymore. My whole body went limp.
"No, I should fight. I need to save Luna," I told myself.
But my body is betraying me. My body showed weakness and I can't move anymore. I remained on the ground as pain dominates and I howl.
I looked up at the sky. The blue sky and the clouds. I can see her face smiling at me. Luna, my mate. She was very beautiful. She is my life. She is my everything. I closed my eyes and everything went black.
I opened my eyes to see my cousin Ryan looking at me with his worried face.
I scanned the place around me. I was no longer in the woods but my bedroom.
"Ryan, what happened?" I asked in confusion.
"Our men found you in the woods. You got a serious wound. I thought you would die, Hector. Luckily, I was able to replace the blood that was lost in your body. I donated some blood for you," he explained.
"Where is Luna?" I asked my cousin as I tried to sit. My wounds were still aching. I feel so bad.
"We are waiting for Stefan's group. They remained in the woods to look for Luna. Just relax Hector. You need to gain strength," he said.
I felt so worried about my mate. She was just human and helpless. There might be something bad happening to her. I need to see her.
The door burst open and Stefan came in. He looked so tired and broke.
"Stefan, did you find my mate?"
Stefan walked slowly towards me, he was looking down. He took a deep breath before he spoke. His red turns red. Is he crying?
"Hector, I'm sorry. We were late," I felt sadness in his tone.
"What do you mean by that, Stefan?" I demanded.
"Sorry Hector, but Luna is dead," he declared.
My whole world stopped. I don't want to believe him.
I was left speechless and the room turned silent for a while.
"What? What are you saying? That's impossible!" I yelled.
It took me a few seconds to understand his words. I don't want to believe him.
"She was found dead in the river. She jumped while escaping from Lucas" he continued.
I shook my head.
"No, that's not true Stefan. I can feel in my heart, that my mate is still alive." I said.
"Hector, calm down. The wounds were not yet healed," Ryan interrupted.
"Ryan, this is about my mate. How can I calm down?" I want to burst out.
I want to run to see her and to check on her.
"Where is my mate? Where is her body?" I turned to look at Stefan.
"Lucas took her body," he replied.
"I will never believe she's dead, as long as I will not see her body with my own eyes," I made it clear to them.
I can still feel the connection between us. She is still alive. Lucas might be brought her somewhere. I need to find that bastard and kill him this time.
Three days after, my men were still busy looking for my mate and Lucas. The demon alpha was missing for a few days. He is good at hiding his pack. They have many places to hide and the security was very strict.
I need to know where my mate is. My men looked for her and traced her scent but we found nothing.
I closed my eyes. I should not lose hope. I need to find her soon. I want to think of her face and her smile. How she looked at me. She was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life. Her angelic face was like a drug and I was like addicted to her. Her voice calling my name was the sweetest music in my ear. I missed the way she touched me and the way she makes me feel I was loved every single minute of the day.
I was thinking about her when I felt hands on my shoulder.
I turned to look and was surprised to see Jasmine. She was looking at me with so much worry in her eyes.
"What are you doing here?" she should not be here after I shoo her away days ago.
"I'm sorry Hector, I disobey you. I came here to check on you," her voice was sincere.
"I'm trying to be Ok. Just for my mate," I told her.
Her expression changed into sadness.
"Do you believe she's dead?" she asked me.
"No, I know she's not dead" I replied. I am sure she's still there somewhere.
"Lucas is lying for sure. He is nowhere to be found, Hector. But I have a plan to let him come out from his hiding spot." she explained.
"What do you mean Jasmine?"
After all that had happened, I don't know why she still has the urge to help me in these times of darkness.
"Just trust me on this Hector. I want to help you."
I remained to stare at her. How could we ever convince Lucas to come out?
"Lucas wants all the pack to follow him. He wants to be the most powerful alpha. The threat is not only on your pack but including us, Hector," she stated.
"I know. That is why he was determined to have Luna and her blood because he wants to be the most powerful,"
Lucas is an ambitious person. He wants power and influence just like his father and grandfather.
"I have a plan, Hector. This is the only way to catch him. We need to divert his attention. In that way, we can also check if Luna was still alive and where she is," she said.
I saw a light of hope. Maybe I need to listen to Jasmine this time. She's here to help me. This is the time we will help one another.
