Chapter 71
LUNA POV
I was panting after that run. I didn't expect Hector would also be there in the woods. I thought he would see me. Thank God, I was fast.
I put on my clothes and my red hood before I came back to the camp.
There was a commotion but I didn't dare to check. Hector might be there and I don't want him to see me.
I went to our tent. No one was there, maybe the girls were outside for their training. I sat down on one side, I need to rest for a while. It still hurts me to see Hector with his wife. I saw how Jasmine approached Hector after his announcement. Jasmine shared a worried look and I can see he cares for Hector.
Maybe Hector learned to fall in love with her. If Jasmine didn't have the miscarriage, maybe they have a happy family now, with Hector's son or daughter.
My eyes started to blur as tears formed in my eyes. I am here to help my pack to fight Lucas. I am not expecting our love story to have a continuation. Everything between us has ended and I need to accept that.
I heard noises from the outside. I became curious. I wonder what was happening.
I stoop up just as when Ridge came in. He looks worried as he walked toward me.
"What happen Ridge? Are you alright?" I asked him. I don't like the way he looks.
"Luna, your mate..." he wasn't able to finish his sentence when the tent vestibule opened and Hector came in.
I was stunned to see him. I can hear my heart beat like a drum inside my chest. I can't believe I'm looking at my mate face to face. I remained speechless. I don't know what to say.
My father came in and he spoke to Ridge.
"Ridge, let's give them space. Let them talk to each other. Let's go!" my dad and Ridge went out and, I was left with Hector.
Tears started to fall from my eyes. I can't handle this emotion I'm feeling right now.
“Luna,” he spoke. His voice saying my name is like music to my ear.
"Luna, I've been crazy searching for you. I thought you were dead. I've been to many parts of Oregon. I've been desperately looking for you," I can see tears forming in his eyes.
"Hector, I'm sorry if I didn't come back. I think there's no more reason for me to go back. You are married to Jasmine and..." when he interrupted.
"That was a fake wedding. That was a plan we made to attract Lucas and his armies. We succeed in killing his men and two of his generals. That was a trap Luna," he explained.
Hector will not lie to me. I trust him, so it's true. They were not married.
"Sorry I thought, it was true. I..." I can't continue my sentence. I started to tremble.
He walked towards me.
He used his hands to wipe my tears.
I missed the warmth of his hands. I felt at home in his touch. My wolf celebrated inside me.
"But, how about Jasmine's miscarriage? You and her..." I'm scared to ask this question. It might hurt me a lot.
"The baby was not mine Luna. It was Stefan's baby. Jasmine and Stefan fell for each other. Stefan had a secret affection for her. They are together now."
I raised my face to look at him. His eyes were like a magnet pulling me closer to him. Did I hear it right? It seems that everything I knew a few months ago was pure lies. I've been in pain knowing that my mate was with another woman, but it was all false.
"Hector... I... I thought," I sobbed.
"Shhh... don't cry. I'm here now. And you are with me now. I am complete because my mate is here," he whispered.
This is the first time I saw Hector in his emotional state. He is an alpha but here he was having teary eyes in front of me.
I wrapped my hands around him and he hugged me back. I don't want this moment to end. I want to stay in his arms like this forever.
I felt his hot breath on my neck. How I missed his manly perfume. He was as handsome as always.
We were enjoying the moment when Stefan came in. He was panting.
"Alpha, we have a problem. Lucas didn't fulfill his promise. He didn't wait for the day we agreed, they are attacking us. His armies are surrounding us. They were too many."
I and Hector shared a worried look. This is not good. Lucas is such a demon.
"Hector are we prepared to fight him?" I'm scared for all the lives that might be at risk because of this war.
"We are prepared, Luna. Stay here. I will ask other werewolves to guard you. I will make sure that you are safe here,"
Hector doesn't know anything about me. He doesn't know that I can shift, that I have my wolf.
I was about to tell him the truth but he stormed out and left me.
Ridge came in to check on me.
"Ridge, did my father told Hector about my wolf?"
He shook his head.
"Your dad told him that we saved you. He doesn't know yet that you are the alpha's daughter and that you are a werewolf too," he declared.
"That was good. Don't tell anyone. Only my pack knows about the truth. Lucas was there outside, as furious as before. Maybe I can use this secret to take him down." I got a plan.
"Your dad and your mate told me to lead the group who will guard the camp to include you, Luna. You stay here inside. I will be outside to help the rest. Lucas might come for you,"
"You are right. He was influential and powerful. There's a possibility that he already knew I'm with the blazing flame pack."
I heard noises from the distance. The fight has just begun. I never expected that this war will start today.
I remained inside the tent. I need to focus and think.
Lucas was very smart, he has his plan in place. Lucas thinks I'm still the Luna he knew. I will be that weak Luna for now. I need to play this game with them.
I can hear noises coming nearer and nearer. I can smell rogues and the unfamiliar smell of wolves coming. I can sense that there were a large number of enemies coming.
"Luna, Luna" I heard my wolf.
"Calm down, we should stay this way first. I know you can read my mind. I need your cooperation," I told my wolf and she agreed.
I heard howls and growls outside my tent. I went out and witnessed many werewolves fighting the enemies. There were rogues everywhere. They are too many.
I saw Ridge from a distance. He was fighting three rogues at once. He was a good fighter, I know he can handle that.
I felt a spark of fear inside me, I remember my mate.
I think Hector is in danger. I need to find him. He needs me.
