Chapter 60

LUNA POV

The cold breeze welcomes me as I went out of the house today. The weather is fine and it invites me to have a walk outside.

I saw Mrs. Fox coming with a basket in her hands.

"What's that Mrs. Fox?"

"Oh, dear, these are oranges, apples, and some bananas. There are fruit trees near the place. You might want some," she offered.

I nodded and she gave me an orange.

My eyes spark with joy as I look at the orange. I peel the orange and pull the orange segments then eat.

The orange was so sweet. Everything in this place was fresh and delicious.

I saw Enrico nearby. He was chopping the logs.

I've been in this place for five days now. I often see him around but he's not talking to me.

I'm not sure if he was avoiding me or what.

I asked Mrs. Fox about him but she refused to tell me. I wonder if he has a family, a wife or children.

He's been alone for so long years. I was looking at him when he turned to me.

"Good morning Enrico," I smiled.

He gave me a quick smile and went back to his task.

After that night, when I heard the voice in my mind it puzzled me a lot.

I always think that Enrico knows something about the voice.

That was the last time I heard the voice in my mind.

"What are you thinking Luna? You look so serious," he asked.

I was stunned. He was talking to me right now.

I composed myself and looked at him.

"I'm just thinking about that voice in my mind. I wonder what that is. I hope someone could give a clue or an explanation for that. I asked Mrs. Fox but she can't give an answer," I replied.

"Some mysteries will have their revelation at the right time. Some unanswered questions have their answer but we can't usually see it, you need to feel it," he said as he walked passed me.

My mouth was left open. Again, I can't understand what his point with that was.

"How did you know about me, Enrico? Did Mrs. Fox tell you?"

"I knew you for so long. Have a great day. I need to rest," and he left again.

My eyes followed him until he went inside the house.

He was trying to tell me something but I can't even understand what it is.

I massaged my temple. I don't want to overthink, it only gives me a headache.

I shook my head and decided to return to the house to look for Mrs. Fox.

I found her in the kitchen preparing some cookies. My mouth waters as I smell the cookies.

"Luna come. I'm almost done. Are you hungry?" she asked.

I nodded as I turned my head to the window.

"What are you thinking dear?" she inquired.

"I'm thinking of many things. It seems that there is something I need to know," I sighed.

Mrs. Fox placed the plate of cookies on the table.

"Don't worry Luna. At the right time, everything will have an answer," she assured me.

We both ate the cookies and it was good. Mrs. Fox is a good cook and I admire her for that.

"I missed Hector so much. Do you have any news about him?" I hope Mrs. Fox has something to say.

"We need to be careful with our movements. The enemies are just around us Luna. We will contact him soon."

I spent the whole day either in the garden or inside my room. It's been days already but I feel like I've been here for many years. The time flies and I need to see my mate. I can't even sleep thinking of him.

I decided to go downstairs. It was 1:00 am. I want to drink water. I opened my door as quietly as possible. I avoid making any sounds. I know Enrico and Mrs. Fox were sleeping.

I went down the stairs slowly when I heard two voices talking from the kitchen.

I tried to go closer, it was Enrico and Mrs. Fox talking.

"Enrico, I think you need to tell her the truth." Mrs. Fox said.

"Let her rest first Betty. Let her clear her mind from all the bad things that had happened to her," they are talking in a low voice.

"What about her mate? I think she needs to know," I heard Mrs. Fox.

"Betty, she will get hurt. Hector is her mate. Maybe she can't stand the pain if she well knew. She is not yet fully recovered," Enrico said.

I felt a burning pain in my chest, did something bad happen to my mate?

I hurriedly went back to my room. I didn't dare to approach and ask them anymore.

I need to escape here and look for my mate.

There's something that they are hiding from me. They don't want me to get hurt so they don't want to tell me.

The last time I saw my mate was when he fought Lucas. I know he was badly hurt fighting the demon alpha.

I closed my eyes, I can see his face. I need to see him.

I waited until Enrico and Mrs. Fox fell asleep. It was 2:30 am already.

It was still dark outside. I wear a thick jacket with a hood. I placed my important stuff in a sling bag.

I went out of the house. The place was very quiet by this time.

I looked back at the house one more time before I decided to leave.

I'm sure, they will not like it if they realized I was gone. But I need to check and see my mate.

Total darkness covers the forest. I used my flashlight to see the way.

I'm not familiar with this forest. I'm not sure how to find Hector but I need to move. I can’t stay in one place and just wait until when they will tell me the truth.

It took me a few minutes of walking. It seems like it's an endless forest. I don't know where I am now and how far away from Enrico's home.

I never stopped and walked a little more.

I felt tired of walking and I can feel my heart beating fast. I inhaled and exhaled.

I was about to take another step when I heard a growl.

I made another step and I heard the growl again. It was behind me. I swallowed hard. This is not good.

It was already dawn and I can already see the surrounding with my naked eye.

I turned to look behind me. All of the oxygen in my lungs seemed to end as I saw a wolf standing and looking straight at me.

The wolf was furious and just by looking at it, I think it was a rogue.

I stepped backward. Oh, no, they found me.

The wolf sense that I want to escape. It run towards me and lunged for me. I sat down on the ground as I waited for my death when suddenly another wolf came and pounced on the rogue.

The rogue fell to the ground. The wolf who saved me was bigger than the rogue. I thought it was Hector, but it's not.

I scanned the new wolf, his eyes were focused on the rogue.

The moment the rogue went back to its feet, the wolf attacked him again and in an instant, I saw the rogue fall lifeless on the ground.

The wolf was a good fighter. He is like Hector, good at fighting and strong.

I was left frozen on the ground. I want to scream right now. I just made the wrong decision today. The rogue almost killed me.

I saw the wolf staring at me. I can't say if it's an enemy or a friend.

I felt scared, so I decided to run in the direction of the house again.

The wolf was running behind me but it was not that fast.

I just kept on running until I reached the house again.

I saw Mrs. Fox outside, she's worried.

I run towards her and tried to pull her inside.

"Luna, what is happening," she asked.

"Let's get inside. There... there is a wolf and it's coming," I tremble while holding her.

"Luna, calm down,"

The wolf finally emerged and I saw it was walking towards us.

"Mrs. Fox, there it is. The wolf," I point to the wolf.

Mrs. Fox remained standing looking at me and then at the wolf. She was calm and I can't understand why? She should be running by this time.

"Mrs. Fox let's go," I told her.

The wolf stopped in front of us. I was panting while waiting for its attack.

Horror filled my senses when I heard the cracking sound of bones and I saw the wolf shift into his human form.
