Chapter 188

**A week later**

**Lorraine**

“What are you doing?” David asks me as I turn the pillows over on the guest bedroom bed.

“I’m just freshening it up,” I say and move round to the other side of the bed. He doesn’t think I should as no one sleeps in here. I don’t tidy anyone’s room but our own as they do it themselves, but I like doing this, it keeps me busy.

“How is Max?”

“He’s ok, I gave him the pain relief earlier, I think it makes him sleepy,” I look at him and smile. “Why are you up here? You’re normally in the gym with Megan at this time,”

“She hasn’t come home yet; she sent me a text telling me she is doing a bit of shopping or something,”

“Do you think she’s ok? She’s been so quiet recently, and snappy, do you not think? She got so angry at Logan last night for no reason,”

“Yeah, Logan said she’s not being sleeping very well,”

“She was sick this morning,” I state as I wipe the bedside table. “And she’s hardly eating, it’s worrying, I hope she hasn’t developed some eating disorder,” I explain. “The poor girl has been through enough,”

“Hmm,” he says and sits on the bed I have just straightened.

I glare at him, and he smiles. He doesn’t like to talk about what Megan has been through. He gets so angry; when he told me the plan with Jonathon, I was mad at first. There was no way he didn’t know what would happen; he’s dealt with people like that before. I don’t think he expected Logan to get so badly injured though. When I saw Logan at the bottom of the stairs, I couldn’t stop myself from crying and then Max. I told him if he didn’t kill Jonathon, I would.

“You know they’re both out, we could give you a reason actually to make this bed,” he suggests, and I shake my head.

“You’re worse than the kids, if only they knew what came out of your mouth daily, they’d be scarred for life,” I say, and he laughs as I walk into the bathroom.

“I can’t help it if my wife still turns me on,” he calls to me. I shake my head but smile a little.

“You’re turning into a dirty old man,” I call back as I give the sink a quick wipe and then look to the bin to see something in it. I frown and pick up the bag.

“I’m not old,” he calls.

Looking into the bag, I notice empty pink boxes and a white and blue box that isn’t empty. Taking a few of the boxes out, I see that they’re pregnancy test boxes. I raise an eyebrow. Glancing into the box that isn’t empty, I see multiple pregnancy tests. I take them out one by one all but two still show the results.

“Oh, wow,” I whisper.

“What?” I hear David ask. I look up as his voice is a lot louder to see him stood at the doorway. “What is it?”

“Megan’s pregnant,”

“What?” I hold the box out to him. “I’m not touching it,”

“She’s pregnant,”

“How can you be sure they’re hers?”

“Well, who else is going to do six tests?” I ask. “That explains so much,” He frowns at me: her sleeping habits and mood swings. Plus I’m sure I heard her throw up a couple of days ago. “And you’ve been training her, you better not have hit her anywhere near the stomach,” I threaten.

“I didn’t know anything about this?”

“Do you think Logan knows?”

“No, he would have told me, he was in the gym when we were last there. She told me her ribs hurt. I guess she was lying,”

“You can’t train with her any more,” I state. “What if you hit her too hard?” I ask.

“I never hit her hard,”

“I don’t care. If she’s pregnant, then she can’t train,”

“Ok,” he says with his hands up in surrender. I smile at him, and he walks over to me to have a look. “Why hasn’t she said anything?”

“Maybe she’s scared,” I say and look at him. “I was petrified to tell you,”

“True,” he says and kisses the top of my head. “Why I don’t know, I was over the moon; Logan would be too,”

“She’s only 18,”

“Well we can’t do anything,” he states.

“What do you mean?”

“She hasn’t told Logan yet, so we can’t let her know that we know,”

“But she might feel better if she knows that we know,”

“No, when she tells Logan then we can let it known that we know,”

“Fine,” I huff and put the tests back into the bin and tie the bin bag into a knot.

We both walk out of the room and down the stairs to see Logan walk into the house. Max walks over to him and lays down. I watch as he bends down to stroke him on his head. Ever since he woke up in the veterinary surgery, he’s been very clingy to both Logan and Megan.

“I got you something,” Logan says to Max. He holds a dried bone out to him, and Max doesn’t even perk up. He’s probably in pain still. Logan sighs and looks at us. I slyly move the bag behind my back. “Is Megan home?” he asks. I frown and look at David. I had assumed she was with Logan shopping.

“No, she has gone shopping,”

“Again? She didn’t buy anything the other day,” he says and shakes his head. “I think she’s avoiding me,” he adds and walks with Max into the living room.

I look at David, and he shakes his head. I sigh and walk off to the kitchen to put the rubbish in the outside bin. Logan needs to know. Sooner or later he’s going to find out. Then what?
