Chapter 221: Silver Witch
~Gwen's POV~
Seraphine smiled, but it was a mean smile. "It's been a while, Arabelle," she said.
That name annoyed me.
" Arabelle, Arabelle, Arabelle! Even when I say I am not her. I am still called her! I am still Arabelle! Now I find out I am cursed because of her! I am Gwendolyn Saraif not Arabelle!" I roared at her. I didn't know what I was doing but I knew I had finally snapped.
"You picked the perfect time to come back," Seraphine said, walking around me like a cat watching a mouse unfazed by my anger.
"This isn't my fight, Seraphine," I said. Again, it felt like someone else was talking through me. "I'm only a piece of who I used to be. I'll warn you once, don't mess with Gwendolyn."
It was weird, talking about myself like I was someone else. I was still me, but someone else was pushing forward, taking control.
Seraphine laughed loud and mean. "For someone who just came back from the dead, you sure want to die again fast."
She raised her hand and pointed at her soldiers. "Attack!" she yelled.
They ran at us with magical sword, looking scary and ready to kill.
"Gwen, it's time you fight for yourself," a voice said in my head. Not out loud, but inside my mind. It started telling me what spells to use and how to do them.
My hands moved by themselves, making shapes in the air. Words came out of my mouth that I'd never learned. Old magic that has forgotten and completely erased poured out.
A wall of silver light shot up around me just as the first soldier tried to hit me. His sword broke into pieces.
Drogon appeared next to me. He still looked human, but fire was dancing in his hands. His eyes turned golden-red like a dragon's. When he opened his mouth to roar, fire poured out like lava.
"Stay back!" he shouted at the soldiers, breathing fire at them.
Haggar stepped up on my other side. She looked different now, not gentle anymore, but fierce and strong. She lifted her hands and water came out of nowhere, forming into a huge dragon made of water.
I watched in shock as her water dragon swallowed up some of Seraphine's soldiers.
"You know I can't fight all my life, right?" Haggar said, as if she was reading my thoughts while she made another spell.
Anastasia joined us too. Her hands moved fast, sending bright bolts of magic through the air. When they hit Seraphine's soldiers, the men just disappeared. Not dead, just gone. Darns!
But more soldiers kept coming. For every one we beat, two more showed up.
Drogon roared again, and this time he looked less human. Sharp claws grew from his fingers. His teeth got longer and pointy. Scales appeared on his face. He moved super fast, tearing through the soldiers like they were made of grass.
I found myself walking toward Seraphine. She stood in the middle of everything, calm while everyone else was fighting.
"Finally," she said when I got close. "I thought you'd hide behind your lovers all day."
"I'm not hiding," I said, but my voice shook a little. What I felt inside me felt huge and scary. And I was scared of releasing it. What if I did and I completely lost myself? What if I never become Gwen again?
"We'll see about that." Seraphine said shutting me out of my scary thoughts.
She attacked first. She made something that looked like black smoke with hands. It reached for me like it was alive.
I fought back without thinking. The voice in my head guided me. Light shot from my hands, bright silver light. When it hit Seraphine's dark magic, both exploded into sparks.
We moved in a circle, throwing spells at each other. She made ice thorns that I melted with fire. I sent lightning at her that she blocked with mirrors made of air.
But I was getting tired. The magic didn't feel like mine.
"Ha ha ha!" Seraphine laughed, but she sounded out of breath too. "You don't know enough, your lack of knowledge, you are a mere version of her true powers, that's why I'll kill you so you can't resurface and become her."
One thing this god, don't know about me is, while I might be Arabelle, I am too thick skin to die. I have people depending and two little ones that I refuse to leave behind.
She lifted both hands up high. The air around her got really hot. When she brought her hands down, I realized she wasn't just making a spell she was making destruction.
Fire exploded from where she stood, but it wasn't just that. The flames turned into a huge lion made of fire. It had a mane of flames and eyes like burning coals. It roared like Lava and ran straight at me.
I knew I couldn't stop it.
The fire lion hit me in the chest. I flew backward and hit the ground hard. My back slammed into the dirt and I couldn't breathe. Everything hurt and I tasted blood.
I could see Seraphine walking toward me slowly, like she was enjoying this. Around us, my friends were still fighting, but it felt far away now.
Drogon roared with anger. I heard Haggar yell my name. They were fighting for me, and I was just lying here like a baby.
I hated that moment. I thought about my children, who were probably outside these chambers and in trouble. I thought about Ava and how I'd failed to protect her because I was too weak and too scared.
Suddenly I see my hands lifted up by themselves. Power flowed coursed through me. I embraced it. I refuse to let my fear of the unknown scare me.
As I took in all of the powers flowing in every direction, memories flooded into me, memories of Arabelle. Everything snapped into place. Nothing was left out. Even I knew I couldn't deny who I was anymore.
" I owe you this, Gwendolyn Saraif. Let's not live like we have been doing before." The voice faded away. Us? Was that Arabelle?
Seraphine stopped walking. She took a step back. Her face went white. Red light started glowing around me. When I spoke, my voice made the ground shake.
" Are you scared, Seraphine, the demi-god?"
"Silver Witch," Seraphine whispered. For the first time since this fight started, she looked really scared.
Like someone who just realized the mouse they were hunting was actually a lion.
" Yes, I am the silver Witch. Be scared."
