Chapter 229: I will kill them all.
~Third Person POV~
In the third realm of the gods, goddess Selene sat on her big throne. The other gods sat around her in a circle. In the center of them all stood Lorraine. Her eyes were full of anger and pain.
"How could you do this, Selene?" Lorraine cried out. "I thought you were our mother and friend! We trusted you. We hated the other gods but this is how you repay the people of Mesodomica? This is how you repay your sister?"
Lorraine was thinking about her daughter Siwan. She had just found out that Siwan had been made to sleep all these years because of Selene.
"Quiet, Lorraine," Selene said with a mean smile. "You should be happy I am even taking care of you and your people. If not for my kindness, none of you would have survived! So speak to me with respect. I am still your god."
Selene smiled like the devil as she thought about how well her plans had worked.
Thousands of years ago, when the world was still being made, something special happened in the god realm. For the first time ever, twin gods were born.
One twin had silver hair and the most beautiful blue eyes. Anyone who looked at her would fall in love with her beauty. She was called Mene, the goddess of dawn.
The other twin was even more beautiful. She was perfect in every way. She had lovely white hair that was clear like glass and silver eyes. Because she was so beautiful and looked like the moon, she was called Selene. She was made the moon goddess to watch over the second realm and its werewolf people.
Both Selene and Mene were loved by everyone. But Selene hated all the attention that Mene got. She thought she was more beautiful, so she should get all the attention instead.
To make Mene look bad, Selene began acting like two different people. She was kind to her parents and other gods, but she was never nice to Mene.
Selene would always try to hurt Mene and make her fail. When Mene tried to tell people what Selene was doing, no one ever listened to her. They started calling Mene crazy. They said she was just jealous of her sister.
People looked down on Mene's powers even though she was actually stronger than Selene.
Because of all this meanness, Mene decided to spend time in the second realm. The people there were more fun and kind. They never compared her to her sister or said mean things to her.
During one of her visits to the second realm, Mene fell in love with a Lycan beast. But this was breaking a very important law. Gods from the third realm were never supposed to fall in love with anyone from the second realm.
This law was very sacred. When someone broke it, there were always big punishments.
Selene saw this as her chance to carry out her plans. She used Mene's broken law as an excuse to take away all of Mene's divine powers. Selene believed these powers should have been hers from the beginning.
Then she and the other gods drove Mene away to the second realm that she loved so much.
Mene was actually okay with this. She was happy because now she could be free and be with the person who loved her.
Selene thought her plans had worked perfectly. But she never knew that Mene's descendants would be so powerful. Different powers kept showing up among them.
Seeing this, Selene vowed to erase all of Mene's descendants.
"What did we ever do to you?" Lorraine asked. She still couldn't understand why Selene would betray them. Selene had offered to help them. She had told them they were descendants of her twin sister Mene.
"Nothing," Selene said with a cruel smile. "And I have done nothing to you but follow the laws of the third realm. I had to punish my children who made mistakes. You and your people have broken the rules again and again, Lorraine."
Selene's smile got meaner. "Now go back to your people and tell them that the gods of the third realm are coming for them. I will not be helping you this time. Instead, I will be helping my real children."
Lorraine understood what Selene meant by "real children." She was talking about the werewolves of Lystra. Selene had always called them true blood, not like Mene's descendants whose blood was mixed with god's blood.
Lorraine was smart. She was beginning to understand that Selene had never liked her sister. Selene was just using this as a chance to get back at Mene for whatever Mene had done to her in the past.
"What about my daughter Siwan?" Lorraine asked sadly. She was giving up. She was tired of fighting.
It had been two thousand years of endless fighting. She had watched her granddaughter die. She had seen one of them taken away.
She had watched the destruction of Mesodomica when her granddaughter was reborn as Evangelina. Lorraine was tired. She couldn't fight anymore.
"I will give you one chance to be with your daughter when you go back." She waved her hand.
Two guards came and grabbed Lorraine. She didn't fight them. They threw her down a deep pit that would send her back to her home.
Lorraine didn't cry even as the sharp floating rocks cut deep into her skin. She wasn't protecting herself, so the cuts caused her many injuries.
Lorraine appeared in the room where Haggar and the others were waiting. Her body was hurt and bleeding.
Just then, Ava opened the door to Haggar's chamber. She didn't knock because she wanted to speak with Haggar and share her sadness.
When Ava saw her grandmother's hurt body, she rushed forward crying.
"Grandmother!" Ava cried, running to catch Lorraine before she fell down.
Lorraine looked helplessly at Ava. Her eyes looked dead. All the fight was gone from her.
"Oh my beloved granddaughter," Lorraine cried, holding Ava's cheek with her bloody hands. "I am so sorry. Oh, I am so sorry. I have been such a fool."
Ava saw how badly hurt Lorraine was. She looked at her grandmother with such sadness. She was scared she would lose her. She couldn't stop the tears from coming.
"Grandmother, please, please, don't die on me," Ava sobbed, gently rocking Lorraine. "I can't do this if I lose you too. Please don't leave me."
The others in the room ran over to help them.
Ava's eyes found Raphael. All the emotions she had been holding inside broke free.
"Don't cry. Don't cry because of a foolish old woman like me," Lorraine whispered. "I was such a fool. Oh, I was such a fool."
Then Lorraine went limp in Ava's arms.
Ava thought her grandmother was dead. She lost control completely. She screamed in pain until her voice was gone. She screamed until rage took over her sadness.
With the rage came her power. It flowed through her like fire.
"We will kill them," Ava said, her voice cold and deadly. "All of them."
