Chapter 234: I will take care of Ava.
~Third Person POV~
Ava was falling from the sky after draining too much energy from the gods and shifters. Her body couldn't handle all the different powers she had absorbed.
Unable to hold on anymore, she started falling. She couldn't hold on anymore, no matter how hard she tried to stop herself from falling. She just couldn't do it.
The gods saw this as their chance to attack.
"ATTACK AT ONCE!" Seraphine screamed from above. "LEAVE THE SILVER WITCH FOR ME." Making reference to Gwen.
They all immediately began shooting their powers at the falling Ava. The sky lit up with bright colors, red fire, blue lightning, golden light, and purple magic. It looked like the most deadly fireworks show ever.
Ava tried to absorb their powers again, but she couldn't. Her body was too weak and full of too different chaotic energy already.
Down on the ground, Raphael was able to break through Ava's shield with his powers.
By this time, the people of Mesodomica had assembled their army. At the front, Captain Cassius and Lucien stood in front of them.
After the shield was broken, they all attacked the shifters that had landed on the ground. Even with all the people Ava had killed from the sky, it didn't seem like their numbers were getting smaller.
"Fight to the death and protect the queen!" Lucien screamed to his soldiers.
"YEEEEEEE!" the soldiers screamed back in agreement.
The battle on the ground began with swords flashing and magic flying everywhere.
But before Raphael could join the fight properly, someone attacked him from behind.
He turns and see Landon. Surprise is written all over his face.
" How did you escape?" Raphael growled out in anger remembering, after his escape, they placed in deepest place in the castle dungeon.
" Are you bothered, Uncle?" Landon screamed. " Surprise I am fighting against you?"
Raphael says nothing.
Landon appeared out of nowhere and tackled Raphael to the ground just after Raphael had gently placed the unconscious Ava down.
"It's all your fault!" Landon yelled angrily. "It's your fault for siding with that bitch who left me like this!"
He swung his fist at Raphael's face.
"I'm going to kill that stupid bitch you love so much," Landon continued. "And after that, I'm going to kill you too!"
Landon was much stronger than before, that was the first thing, Raphael noticed about him. The black magic that Alasia had given him made his punches stronger than they should have been.
Without Raphael knowing, Landon pulled out a small bag and blew the powder right into Raphael's face.
Alasia had given Landon a this powder. This powder was meant to bind the powers of a god and make them weak for awhile.
At first, Raphael didn't know what was happening. He fought back against Landon and any soldier that came near him.
But slowly, he began to feel weak. No matter what he tried, he couldn't use his powers properly. They would come up for a second, then disappear.
That's when he knew something was wrong.
"What did you do to me?" Raphael asked angrily, his vision becoming blurry.
"Something very simple," Landon said, showing him the empty powder bottle in his hand. "Something I heard can make gods as weak as normal humans. I heard it won't last long, but it will be long enough to kill you!"
Landon pulled out a sharp sword and ran straight at Raphael.
He stabbed Raphael in the stomach, then pulled the sword out and stabbed him again and again. Blood poured from Raphael's wounds.
Caleb, who was fighting nearby, saw what was happening. He ran to help Raphael, but he was no match for Landon's new strength.
Just as Landon was about to deliver a killing blow to Raphael, Caleb threw himself in front of the sword.
The blade went right through Caleb's chest.
"No... No... I will kill you!" Raphael screamed, catching Caleb as he fell.
Caleb smiled sadly at Raphael. "Don't blame yourself," he whispered. "It was just my time. My fate. Please... take care of Gemma for me."
Caleb's eyes closed and his body went limp in Raphael's arms.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" Raphael cried.
Lightning struck the sky above them at Raphael's scream. Thunder crashed so loud it shook the earth. The lightning even struck down some of the gods who were flying overhead.
Landon looked scared for a moment, thinking the powder might have worn off.
But then the rumbling in the sky stopped. Raphael just sat there crying, holding Caleb's dead body. Ice began forming around Raphael's body from his grief.
"You look pathetic, uncle," Landon said with a mean smile. "To think you're supposed to be a king. Maybe I should just take your throne. Maybe I should just kill you and keep Ava for myself. After all, she was my mate first."
"I will kill you," Raphael said through his tears. "I swear it, Landon. I should have killed you long ago."
"But you didn't," Landon laughed. "Because you're weak. Do you even know how my mother died?"
Raphael's head snapped up at the mention of Theresa, his sister.
"My father killed her," Landon said with a cruel smile. "She caught him cheating on her. She promised to make him pay, but before she could do anything, he killed her. Slit her throat, even though he knew she was carrying his child."
Raphael's face went white with shock and horror.
"Then he lied and said she died during childbirth," Landon continued. "I didn't care much about my mother, so it was good riddance."
"You are the worst person alive," Raphael said.
"Oh, don't look at me like that. You're the one who got fooled by your own cousin. Do you actually think Theresa was all good and innocent?"
"Don't you dare spill horrible things about Theresa!"
"Oh please, shut up," Landon said. "Do you remember your cousin Darius? The one you killed? He's my father. Christopher knew that all along."
Raphael stared at him in disbelief.
"Theresa was already pregnant before she met my father," Landon continued. "She found out he was her mate after she was already carrying his child. How she kept the pregnancy hidden from you still amazes me."
"You're lying."
"I'm not. The moon goddess showed me everything."
Raphael said nothing. He looked completely defeated, sitting there covered in blood and ice.
"I like seeing you like this," Landon said. "Now it's time for you to die. Say hello to your sister or whoever you want to say hello to."
He rubbed more of the god-binding powder on his sword.
"Don't worry," Landon added with an evil grin. "I'll take very good care of Ava after you're gone. And you know fuck her well."
Landon raised his sword high above his head, ready to deliver the final blow to Raphael.
Just as the sword was about to come down, something sharp and deadly drove through Landon's chest from behind.
A claw.
