Chapter 223: Gwen is fighting the gods

~ Third Person POV~

The three strangers stood quietly in front of the angry crowd. The one with silver hair and red eyes stepped forward first.

"You are coming with us," he said in a calm voice that made everyone stop throwing things.

Landon wiped tomato from his face and snarled. "Who are you to stop us? We're not going anywhere with you!"

"You don't have a choice," the red-eyed man said simply.

Hellena laughed, but it sounded scared. "Three people against all of us? We're werewolves! We're stronger than you!"

"Are you?" the blue-haired woman asked with a cold smile.

Landon's eyes turned yellow with anger. He started changing into his wolf form. His bones cracked as he grew bigger and stronger. Hellena, Annabelle, Beatrice, and Jamie all did the same thing.

Five big, angry wolves stood where the prisoners had been. They growled and showed their sharp teeth.

The crowd stepped back, scared of the dangerous animals, forgetting they were stronger than the werewolves before them.

However, the red-eyed man just raised his hand. Red light shot out from his fingers like fireballs. It wrapped around the wolves like glowing ropes.

The wolves tried to fight, but the magic was too strong. They were pulled back into human form before they could attack anyone.

"How?" Annabelle gasped, finding herself naked on the ground.

"Power," the man said. "True power." The man said lazily as if he couldn't be bothered with such trivial issues.

With another wave of his hand, clothes appeared on the naked prisoners. Then the silver-haired man with blue eyes stepped forward with glowing ropes.

"These will hold you," he said, tying their hands behind their backs. "Don't try to break them."

"Move," the blue-haired woman ordered. "We're taking you back to the castle."

The crowd cheered as they watched the three strangers easily control the dangerous prisoners.

"Thank you Captain!" someone shouted.

"Take them away forever!" another person yelled.

The prisoners had no choice but to walk. The magic ropes made sure they couldn't escape.

The walk to the castle was long. Landon and the others tried to break free many times, but the ropes wouldn't break, it's only got tighter with each struggle.

"Who are you really?" Hellena asked as they walked.

"That doesn't concern you." the red-eyed man answered.

"Are you from this kingdom?" Beatrice wanted to know.

"No," the blue-haired woman said, deciding to play with them although she wasn't lying. "We're from far away."

"How far?" Annabelle pressed. If they were smart, they would know, the little talks they were trying to make while they struggle to break the rope as a means of distraction wasn't going to work, unfortunately, they weren't that smart.

"Farther than you can imagine," the silver-haired man said coldly playing along with the game of his companion.

They walked for an hour before they saw someone coming toward them on the road.

Raphael was walking fast, his face dark with anger. When he saw the group, he stopped and stared.

His eyes went very wide when he saw the red eyes man. His mouth opened but no words came out.

"Elias?" Raphael whispered in shock. " Are you not supposed to be dead?"

Lucien nodded slowly. "I go by Lucien now. And no, I didn't die."

"But Alasia..." Raphael's voice shook. "She attacked you through Isla. So how did you survive?"

"She tried to kill me," Lucien said sadly. "I was able to escape their plan, but I couldn't save Nordic."

Raphael's face showed pain when he heard Nordic's name. He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help," Raphael said quietly.

"It wasn't your fault," Lucien replied.

Raphael looked at the prisoners with hate in his eyes. "Did they cause much trouble?"

"No," Lucien's companion answered. " We heard at the city cursing out her highness. We intervened early."

"Take them back to the castle," Raphael said coldly. "Lock them up and make sure their binds is something they can never break."

" What? Uncle, uncle? How can you do this to me? Mother will be so disappointed in you," Landon cried out pitiably. Scared, he won't be able to escape again.

Raphael doesn't say anything, he just turned and walked away, leaving the group to continue their journey.

When they finally reached the palace gates, something strange was happening above them.

A woman with long golden curls was floating in the air above the courtyard. She was being pulled upward by some invisible force, but she was fighting against it.

Her face was beautiful but full of rage. Her eyes glowed with power as she struggled.

"What is that?" Hellena asked, scared.

Before anyone could answer, the castle doors burst open. Gwen ran out, her red hair wild and her clothes torn. She looked up at the floating woman and shouted.

"I'm waiting for you!" Gwen yelled at the sky. "You think you scare me? You think your threats mean anything?"

The golden-haired woman stopped struggling and looked down at Gwen with burning eyes.

"You killed my brother!" she screamed back. "You will pay for this, Arabelle! I swear you will pay!"

"Come and make me pay then!" Gwen shouted. "Whatever plans you have, I have thousands waiting for you too!"

"I will be back!" the woman screamed as she was pulled higher into the sky. "I will avenge the death of my brother! This isn't over, Arabelle!"

"My name is Gwen now! Remember that!" she yelled back, but the woman was already disappearing.

In a flash of golden light, she was gone, leaving only empty air and the smell of her divine powers.

Gwen stood in the courtyard, breathing hard. Her hands were glowing with silver light that slowly faded away.

The prisoners, the three strangers all stared at her in amazement.

"What was that about?" Lucien asked quietly.

Just then, Ava appeared at the castle doors. She looked tired and worried. Her eyes moved from the returned prisoners to Gwen, then to the empty sky where the woman had disappeared.

"What's happening here?" the blue-haired woman asked, confused. It was clear that Gwen had been fighting some kind of mystical being, but she didn't understand what kind.

Ava looked at all of them with serious eyes. Her face was pale, and her hands were shaking slightly.

"What's happening?" the blue-haired woman asked again when no one answered.

Ava took a deep breath and looked up at the empty sky where the golden-haired woman had vanished.

"Gwen is fighting the gods, Alexis. We are doomed."

" It's a shame you are this weak now, Norelle."

Gwen gather her torn robe around her and walked away ignoring Anastasia and Drogon who kept asking if she was alright.
