The attack
-Adam POV-
“Mom, are the warriors ready? Is Marcus on guard? Is the security in the house tightened?” I ask my mom. She answers with a big sigh: ”Yes, my dear, you’ve asked twice already. Everything is ready. We should wait now.”
Mom gets to her room, I’m sitting in her office, next to her bedroom. I’ll wait, and be there for her, when she needs me. I’m worried tho. There’s something not quite right. James always let other people doing his shitty jobs. That’s why I doubt that he’ll try to kill my mom on his own. On the other hand: his ego and proud will probably be big enough to do it himself. I guess we should…
*Adam!! I got a link from Levi, they spotted around 10 or 12 warriors from the Blue Oasis. But no sign from James, yet.*
My thoughts were cut by my mom’s mindlink. Adrenaline rushes through my body. It’s showtime!
-Avery POV-
Twenty minutes passed by. It normally takes around fifteen minutes to run from the northern border to the packhouse. Why aren’t they here, yet? I feel restless. I got a mindlink from Levi, saying he's seeing some wolfs of the Blue Oasis.
*Darling, there’s something wrong. I sense it. Link Levi!*
Aura, my wolf, is linking me. She’s always right, when it comes about feelings. I link Levi again and ask him what’s happening. But he isn’t reacting at all. Right now, I’m completely stressed out and I link Adam:
*Adam! I don’t know what’s happening, but there’s something wrong! They aren’t here yet, and I can’t reach Levi again!*
Soon I got an answer from Adam:
*Fuck, mom! What should we do? I can’t leave you...Can you link one of the other warriors?*
I walk to the window to open it, having some fresh air, and I look outside. I see the sun went down, and the full moon has enlightened the backyard. It’s a beautiful night, I feel the power from the moon. I know James will feel it to, but I guess he doesn’t realize that not only his powers grow on nights like this. And I bet, as a chosen daughter, my powers will be affected more than his.
I’ve managed to contact one of the warriors. Apparently it’s a chaos, not only the 10~ish wolfs from the Blue Oasis crossed the border - they spotted some warriors at the Eastside as well. So they needed to split up as a group. I directly sent more warriors to strengthen our territory. White Moon is not a big pack, but we are strong and smart.
Then I got a stressed call from Levi:
*Luna!! They’re attacking us! I.. aarghh.. that stings - they are shooting arrows at us. And the arrows stings like hell. It’s strange! DAMN… Can’t move my left feet anymore. There’s something in those arrows! Please, send….*
I lost contact. Oh, this is not going well.. I close my eyes to contact with Aura:
*Aura, we need to change plans. I need your help. Search for James’ wolf please. Lock him in.*
*I’ll sure do, Avery. I can feel he’s close - James’ wolf is awake, James has shifted. Let’s go!*
I mindlink Adam, there are plenty guards in the house - he needs to help and figure out who’s shooting those arrows! That didn’t sound pretty.
I feel Aura found James’ wolf. I know she’s taken care of him. But the human part, James, is my responsibility. There’s nothing Aura can do about the human mind.
I think at myself: Dear James, as our Beta, you know we are a chosen family. But I’ve never ever told somebody about my special powers. I never needed them. Now it’s time to show.
“Well well well, who do we have here?” I hear his annoying voice. James is in my room.
