The rescue

-Adam POV-

Oh my word, I’m incredibly nervous right now. In an hour I’m going to meet the love of my life, and I’m not sure how I need to act. I’m afraid Ace is going nuts when he feels her wolf.

“Adam, focus! We have plans to discuss..” I hear mom’s voice. “Oh sorry, mom. I - I was distracted.”

I look at Joshua and he’s smiling at me, knowing what I was thinking about. I roll my eyes at him, and try to focus on the meeting. Joshua and I talked before this meeting, and we’re OK. He said sorry about his behaviour before, so we’re good.

“So, Crissie, you’re first. You make us a portal and we’re going in. You go last and close the portal behind you. When we’re in the woods, one of our best warriors is staying with you, while Adam, Joshua and 4 others are going to get Eve. The area is crowded with hunters, so we need to be careful. For escaping back home, Crissie makes us a portal again. Piece of cake.” Avery said.

But I know, it’s never going the way you want to. So I ask: “But what if something unexpected is happening? And how are we going to walk by all those hunters, without them noticing us?” I’m worried, I don’t want any mistakes. I need her home, safe with me.

But before anyone can answer my questions, I feel a wave of energy leaving my body. It’s powerful, and I needed to step backwards. “Wow, what was that?” Joshua asks me.

“I’ve no idea!” I’m as shocked as they are. “It’s like a wave of energy left my body…” I’m still recovering from the first hit, when I feel a second one. “What the hell??” Then I know. “It’s Eve! Because she knows we’re mates now, our bond is getting stronger! I can feel things, her ‘things’.” I’m baffled, this is not good.

“Try to mindlink her!” Mom said. So, I try.

*Eve! What was that? Are you OK? Please tell me you’re fine…*

*Shit.. You felt that too, Adam? I don’t know what it is. They’re trying to hurt me, but they can’t reach me - a kind of shield or aura is protecting me, and... *

Eve stopped mindlinking, I guess they, whoever is with her, noticed her mindlinking and made her stop.

“Fuck!” I yell, “She said somebody tried to hurt her, but that a shield or aura is protecting her!” I’m starting to get angry and so is Ace. Nobody can hurt our mate! I’ll rip their heads of..

Luna Avery says: “It’s the Chosen Bloodline, she is protected. But I’m not sure for how long. She’s in danger, that kind of protection will only occur when she’s in real danger.. We need to hurry!”

Shit, what can we do? We don’t have time to sneak past the hunters, I want her home as soon as possible. I look over to Crissie and say: “Crissie, you’ve seen the location into the woods, through my owl, but can you also make a portal based on a feeling of mine? I can feel Eve, she’s awake. I want a portal next to her, grab her and take her home. Please….!”

I see Crissie is starting to panic, “Oh I don’t know! I - I wasn’t even sure if I could make the location of the woods, and now I just have to go with feelings? I - I ….”

Joshua gives her a hug and calms her down. I see how she is reacting to his touch, and immediately I’m starting to get jealous, and anxious, because I miss Eve so bad! I want her here, with me. But this is good, Crissie gets her focus back and nods at me. “We have to, I have to! It needs to work, she’s in danger. I can do this…”

I sent her a glare of thankfulness, and start shouting commando’s: “Alright, Marcus - I want you to get 4 warriors in here ASAP! They need to make a block, a wall, for when the portal opens close to Eve. They can’t interrupt our rescue plan. Crissie and Joshua: get ready, make sure Crissie is focused, it can’t go wrong. I want all of you outside the packhouse in 10 minutes! Go, Go, GO!”

It’s time. We’re all gathered in front of the packhouse. This place is ideal, because it’s a good sized, empty square. We’re often using this place for party’s or announcements.

“Alright guys, so you all know what to do? Any questions?” I ask the people in front of me. Nobody says a thing. That’s good. “OK, then we’re good to go. Crissie?”

Crissie walks over to me to hold my hands, trying to get close to my feelings. We’re standing face to face, she’s holding both of my hands with her own. After 30 seconds she says: “It’s not good enough, mindlink Eve for me, please. I want to feel her too.” She then let her forehead rest against mine, while I mindlink Eve.

*Eve, little one? I need you to talk back to me. We’re trying to get you home, but I need to feel you. Please, answer me.*

Minutes goes by, and I’m afraid she'll not answering at all. But the moment I was ready to give up hope, I hear:

*Adam? Oh please, hurry. Get me home. I’m not sure how long my barrier is holding up. Please…*

I hear the pain in her voice, she’s scared.

I look at Crissie, well - I’m trying to. It’s hard to make eye contact with somebody when both of the foreheads are locked to each other. I feel drops of sweat slip right of her head. Was this short link enough?

Suddenly Crissie steps backwards, and I almost fall over because of her sudden movement. I look at her, and I see her hands making circles. Red colored air is coming of her hands while she’s trying to make the portal. I can see it costs a lot of her energy, but it’s working! Slowly I see a room emerge in her portal. Is that a hospital room?

“Alright.. “ Crissie says, “..be ready! I’m done in 5, 4, 3…” and she counts down.

Exactly after her ‘1’, I step into her portal. Ready to attack anyone who tries to get close to her.
