Master of Magic
-Crissie POV-
“You have WHAT?” Joshua asks her.
“Well, uhh. I offered them my help..”
“Yeah, you offered them to help get you killed. You’re not a werewolf, pumpkin. How are you supposed to help them?”
“Watch me...”
I stretch one hand in front of me and one next to my hips. My hands starts to glow and in a split-second I’m standing outside, instead of in my own bedroom. I smile: yes! It worked!
“What the fuck, Crissie!” Joshua yells, while he runs towards her. “What did you do?”
“I don’t know, but a while ago, I discovered I could change locations. The first time happened when I was in distress; I was cycling to the hospital, it was still dark because I had a morning shift. A car drove towards me, and I thought he didn’t see me. So it scared the hell out of me, and the moment I was expecting the hit from the car, I stood 20 yards further.”
Crissie starts walking back to her house. “I have no idea how it happened. I’ve tried so many times to do it again, but nothing worked. So I started searching, I wanted more information.” She opens her bedroom door and walks towards her desk. “I found his book in the library.” Crissie hands over an old looking book. The book is heavy and looks like it’s been hidden for ages. It’s called: The Schools of Magic.
Joshua looks at it and asks confused: “Magic? You’re into magic, now?”
“I don’t know, but I do know that the replacement I did before, is mentioned in this book. It’s called shimmering. So, if I’m able to do that, I maybe can use other powers too right?”
Joshua starts pacing up and down the room. “Who knows about this, Crissie?”
“Well, I’ve told Adam and Luna Avery. And now you. So, the four of us...”
“And your parents?”
“They don’t know. I don’t want to be the troublemaker, they’ve been through enough. They needed to deal with a human daughter and they did well. I can’t let them worry about me being something else. I’m afraid they can’t coop.”
Joshua nods. “That’s very good. Let’s keep it that way. First, we need to find out who you are and what you can do.”
I look at Joshua and hesitate.
“What’s wrong, pumpkin?” Joshua hugs me and gives me a kiss on the forehead. “Don’t worry, we will figure out something!”
“That’s not the problem, Joshua. I.. uhh. Luna Avery gave me three days.”
“What?? Only three days?”
I nod. “Yes, so we need to hurry. Lucky you, I’ve been reading this book for the past months so I know a lot already. But, there’s a lot I don’t understand. Two knows more than one. So, I can use some help indeed.”
Joshua takes a seat, opens the book and reads out loud: “There are aight schools of magic, all with their unique powers. A few examples are: powers to heal, dealing damage, for protection or enchantment. As a master of magic, you draw powers from different dimensions of the multiverse. In the search to your own school of magic, you’ll find out which dimension suits you the most.”
He looks up to Crissie and asks: “What does this mean?”
I explain to him: “Well, like you read: there are multiple schools of magic. Some of them are for healing or protection but there are also schools for dealing damage or apply illusions and charmes. I found out that every master has some basic skills, like shimmering. But not every master can heal or enchant someone’s mind. After practising magic for an amount of time, you need to specialize yourself into a specific school of magic. If you don’t choose ‘in time’, you’ll lose all of your existing powers.”
Joshua looks at me if he have seen a ghost. “Wow, to much information. So.. There are a few basic skills every magicmaster can learn and knows, but after awhile you need to specialize yourself, otherwise you’ll lose everything you learned before?”
“First of all, it’s not magicmaster, you are a master of magic. Some kind of Magician. Secondly: yes. The problem is: I don’t know what should be ‘in time’. It’s not mentioned in the book how much time I have to discover my true self.”
“Oke, oke. Magicmas... - uuhh - magiss... - mage-thingy… Let’s find out then!”
I roll my eyes. “It’s Master of Magic!”
“Jeah, not catchy enough; it’s too long. I’ll call it: Mage.” Joshua walks towards Crissie and attacks her lips. “You will be my little, spicy mage. I don’t care if you’re human, wolf or mage. I’ll always love you, pumpkin.”
I feel my legs weaken, put my arms around his neck and get lost in his kiss.
