I found him!
-Eve POV-
I feel my heart beating incredibly fast. I forget my surroundings and all I can hear is the sound of his voice. It sounds sweet, clear and is like singing to my ears. I try to focus on his voice and link back:
*Adam?*
Thinking about him makes me crazy, my wolf is going nuts. What’s happening? I want to calm down the storm of feelings inside me, but my wolf doesn’t let me. She’s like a little puppy, jumping around in my head, from excitement.
*Can you please stop?* I ask my wolf. *I can’t focus…*
But she keeps going. It’s clear she’s feeling great to, when hearing his voice, but I’m not sure what to do. Then I hear his voice again:
*Oh my gosh, Eve! Are you OK?*
My heart jumps a little and I’m pretty sure I’ve skipped a beat or two. The sound of his voice enlightened my mood instantly and I can’t help myself for smiling from ear to ear.
*You know what this means, right?* my wolf asks me. I nod. *Yes, I do, missy. He’s my mate, isn’t he?*
A growl leaves my body and I’m surprised by it. *What the hell, wolfie? You don’t have to growl!*
*He’s mine! He’s mine too - don’t you ever forget that… ‘missy’.*
I smile. She has been sweet and polite for the last 30 minutes, but I guess she has some spice as well. But we’ve no time to enjoy this moment, I want to leave this place. I’m sure they already discovered the dead man inside the room, and the bite in his neck proving I’ve shapeshifted. It’s a matter of time before they find me here.
*Adam! Yes, I’m good.. But you - you… I know. You’re mine, aren’t you?*
Saying those words is making this real. Oh my gosh, I really found him! Adam’s my mate! And I feel ten times better than before. Although my body is still burning from the heat, especially now I know who my mate is, I still feel better. I think I’m in the last hours of the heat, because I can feel it’s getting better every hour.
*Yes I am. Completely yours. But we’ve no time for this. I need to know: where are you? What happened? ……… come to save you.*
I’ve lost some of the link. It’s unstable and I’ve troubles hearing him.
*I can’t hear you, Adam. You want to save me? I - I’m in the woods, I’ve escaped. I’m close to the East and the mountains… I ….*
But before I could finish my sentence, I feel a sharp pain in my neck. “There you are, little devil. Planning to escape hea? I can see you’ve met your wolf too. Well, not for long.” I hear a known voice: Talon. And then the darkness begins.

-Adam POV-
I’m starting to panic. Shit! Something happened, I know. I can’t reach her anymore. She’s not responding and her mind is shut off. I hurry to mom’s office and without knocking, I run inside.
Mom is sitting behind her desk, still looking at her laptop, not even responding to my sudden appearance. “Hi Adam, good to see you to. You know you can use those hands to knock, right?”
“Mom, I’ve had contact with Eve. We’ve mindlinked each other, like 3 minutes ago. But something’s wrong.. I’ve lost her. She…”
“Easy, calm down.” Mom's now standing next to me and trying to calm me down. “You’ve mindlinked with Eve? Explain, from the beginning.”
And I explain, I tell her about the chaos I was feeling. The storm of emotions, the talk with Bonnie and my idea to mindlink her. The talk between us and how she suddenly wasn’t responding anymore.
“I can feel there’s something wrong, mom! And there’s something else: Ace could feel she was in her wolf-form. She has shapeshifted! Oh - and there was this strange thing she said. She couldn’t hear me clearly, but I could hear her like she was standing besides me. It was weird. Why?”
“I don’t know, son. But she could respond to you, without seeing you? That’s indeed very strange. You’re the Luna’s son, it’s normal for you to contact pack members. Besides, you are extremely good at it too. Better than a ‘normal’ Alpha or Luna’s child. But Eve linking back, without the noise she was experiencing when hearing you, that’s epic!”
“Mom, she knows about the mate-thing between us too. She could feel it. Maybe it’s because our bond is getting stronger?”
“No, my darling. You need to meet first, before you can connect the way mates do: melting to one whole person, instead of two individuals. Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out. But I agree: I think something happened to her, otherwise you should be able to reach her mind. The fact she isn’t responding means she is not conscious. Keep trying! We need to hurry - tell Crissie we’re reschedule the plan from 00:00 this night to 10 p.m. We have three hours left. Go!”
I nod to mom, and I agree to expedite the plans with two hours. So I rush to Crissie’s place. We don’t have much time left…
