-Adam POV-

Bonnie is a wrack. She cried for 30 minutes, non-stop. Joshua is with her now, I asked Crissie to give Joshua some sleeping pills for Bonnie so she can take some rest. I sigh, there’s a lot going since yesterday. The attack, mind-controlled James, Mom's hurt and still asleep, Joshua being the new Beta and now this: Eve’s missing.

The day the Brown-brothers hurt Eve, Bonnie already went wild. After that, we found out she’s a born Alpha. Mom summoned Bonnie and I at her office to chat about. It was a weird conversation. Bonnie explained she was adopted by her parents when she was 1 years old. Nobody knew anything about her birth parents. But after a few years it became clear Bonnie was a born Alpha. She was incredibly strong for her age, but she hated fighting. So after learning what every wolf needs to know about fighting, her parents give her a free pass to stop training as a warrior.

We, werewolves, have the duty to train until you turn eighteen. Every wolf needs to be able to protect ourselves and our loved ones in case of an emergency. Only the good warriors or the ones who are motivated to go on, are allowed to train after the 18’th birthday, to become the real warriors. Our little ‘army’. Our protectors.

I always noted Joshua is a very strong Beta, and his mother being a born Alpha is probably the main reason of that. But Eve, there’s something strange about this situation. After watching the security footage, it became clear Eve never left the hospital herself. Because of security reasons, there are no cameras in the hospital rooms. I really, really hate that now! Who wants to take Eve? For what reason? I wasn’t able to ask Bonnie about it, she was unable to talk.

My phone rings, I answer: “Hello?”

“Hi, this is Dr. Rose speaking. As you asked, we examined miss Evans blood to find any clues. There’s something you should see. Can you come to the medical center, as soon as possible?”

I didn’t care to properly end the call, I hang up without saying anything. I sprint at the hospital. Please, let it be something good. Something we can use for the search for Eve.

It only took me 1 minute to arrive at the hospital, completely out of breath. Dr. Rose is already waiting for me. “Adam, that’s quick. Follow me.”

I nod at her, and follow the white coat in front of me. We walk to the end of the long, white hallway and enter the laboratorium. An assistant stands behind a microscope but immediately leaves the working place when she sees Dr. Rose arrive. She looks at me and says: “Go on, look under the microscope.” I walk closer and take a look. I see a lot of little balls wobbling around. But that’s not what caught my attention. There are strange-looking spots attacking the little balls. But nothing is happening, at all. The moment the spots are touching the balls, they kind of explode and disappears. “What are those spots? Why do they explode when they touch the balls? I ask Dr. Rose.

“The 'balls' are friendly cells, our own. The spots are infected ones. You remember miss Evans got a lot of damage in her brains, right? Her brains got infected with a virus. We tried to give her antibiotics, but the medication didn’t last. But every hour we could see her situation improving. That’s really strange, for comparison: when humans got this kind of virus, they will not survive. And miss Evans is not only attacking it on her own, she was also recovering. I’ve never seen this before, in my whole life!”

I’m stunned by her explanation. “What the hell does this mean? And what has this to do with her being captured?” I ask Dr. Rose.

“I’m not sure, but this…” and she takes a white paper from her table “...is the information I’m confused about. This, in combination with the discovery about miss Evans cells.”

I raise my eyebrows and reach to the paper, Dr. Rose is handing over to me. I scan the words, but I’m not sure what this all is saying. “Come on..“ I start talking to Dr. Rose, annoyed. “..now in English please. Don’t keep me dangling. Explain, Dr. Rose. What the hell is going on?”

She calmly answers me, not impressed by my tone: “This is a blood sample of Beta Joshua. And at the bottom you see the results of miss Evans. It’s not identical.” She waits before she goes on. “Don’t you see it?”

I shake my head and mumbles: “No, Dr. Rose. I am NOT a doctor, remember. Isn’t it supposed to be different? They are not the same person, right?”

Dr. Rose looks at me and reacts: “In this case, it should be the same. It’s a paternal test. Like you asked before, we ran every test we have in this hospital to get more information about miss Evans. Not all the results are back, though. This kind of test are just quick. But… These results are not the same, not completely. That means miss Evans is only a half-sister of Beta Joshua. They have different fathers.”

My eyes widened: “Excuse me???”

“You’ve heard me. James Evans is NOT miss Evans father. I’m 100% sure. And by the way, it’s not all I found out. Her personal information claims she’s twelve years old. But her DNA is saying differently. She’s at least fifteen, or sixteen years old. Besides that, I examined miss Evans when she was in coma. There’s no way she is only twelve years old.”

What the hell??
