'Again'
-Joshua POV-
I just finished the strange conversation with Adam via the mindlink. He really sounded worried and stressed out! I close my laptop and leave the office. My fingers are messaging my temples. Damn, how did he do that? I thought I blocked all the voices, earlier, to make sure I could work peacefully. But his voice was like a siren in my head, incredibly loud! Ignoring all my blocks. I really should ask Adam about it, later on.
While I have those thoughts, I almost fell down the stairs. “Focus, Josh, Focus..” I mumble to myself.
What can be so important, Adam needed to yell in my head? I’m wondering what’s wrong. Is it Avery? He was still in the hospital, in the Luna’s room, when I left the building. Oh, no! Not my Luna! I’m the new Beta, just fifteen minutes ago! I take a sprint and hurry my body to the medical centre, as fast as I can.
The moment I open the door from the hospital, I sense something is wrong. There is chaos everywhere. People are running around and everyone seems to be in a hurry. It takes me five seconds to rush through the building, realizing it’s not Avery. Jaggar still feels her aura. But I can’t sense Eve. Oh no, no, no, noooo!
I stand still in front of Eve’s room. My eyes directly went to her bed. Empty. I feel my own heartbeat explode in my chest. This weird ringing in my ear.. My eyes goes to Adam and I ask him: “Where. Is. My. Sister?”
I can barely focus while Adam is explaining what happened. How they really don’t know, how everyone is searching for her but there is no sign of her. Nowhere.
I can’t believe it! “But hhh-how? Why? She wasn’t awake, did she? Did someone take her? It must be!” I ask Adam. Adam nods at me and answers: “I know, Joshua. I had the same questions. I do believe she is taken, she wasn't’ awake. She couldn’t walk out this hospital herself. Besides, nobody saw her. It’s a mystery.”
I feel my body collapse. My legs went numb and I fall on the ground. I hear Adam’s voice, talking to me. But his words aren’t reaching my mind. The tears begin to come, while I’m laying on the ground. The ringing in my ear become stronger and my vision narrows. I hear myself whine: “Please, Eve, not you.. Eve, my dear sister. We can’t lose you again.”
I’m falling, falling in the darkness that’s surrounding me. I close my eyes and let the darkness take over.
-Adam POV-
I see how Joshua collapsed, in front of me. Immediately I kneel by my best friend and start calming him: “Come on, Josh, be strong! Be strong for Eve. She needs you! We will find her. Ssshhh…” Joshua is losing it, I can feel his pain through our wolves. Joshua’s whining: “..... Eve, my dear sister. We can’t lose you again.”
Wait. Whut? ‘Lose you again.'? What is he talking about? I have not much time to think about it, Joshua passed out.
“Crissie, can you help him please? He needs some medicine to calm down. Make sure he’s gonna sleep for an hour or two. I need to talk with Bonnie... “ I said to Crissie, while holding Joshua’s head. She nods at me and takes over: “Bonnie? Who’s Bonnie? His girlfriend?”.
I shake my head: “No, his mother. The woman who not only lost her husband, 12 hours ago, but now her daughter as well..”
I stand up and go to the packhouse. I hate bringing the ‘bad news’...
