Exploring my powers

“Adam, Adam…. ADAM!! Wake up!” I hear Joshua’s voice yelling in my ear and my body got shaken up by Joshua. “Ugghh.. I want to sleep, I’m tired. Go away!” I answer him, turning my body on my left side while I rearrange my pillow.

“It’s your mom. She’s having a fever. She’s getting worse.”

Immediately I’m awake. My dream! Mom’s dying.. “Crap! How long have I been asleep, what time is it?” I ask Joshua. I’m searching for the clothes on the ground, damn.. why do I always need to be so messy? Joshua: “It’s almost dinnertime. Around 7 p.m. But you need to hurry, Adam. I don’t know what to do!!”

“I know, Josh, I know. She’s dying. We need to go. I’ll try to heal her.” I said to Josh, pulling him to the hallway. “You’re gonna do what? You? Heal her? The doctors are doing everything they can, how can you heal her while they aren’t able to?” Joshua ask surprised.

“I’m a druid, silly. Apparently my human side has special healing powers. My owl told me in my dream this afternoon.” I’m getting frustrated. No time for this nonsense, I need to see mom! I let go of Joshua and start running.

“Wait! You are a whát?? An owl? WHAT are you talking about?? ADAM!!” Joshua is yelling behind me. Oh crap, I haven’t told him yet, about the druid-thing. Well, he’ll find out soon.

I’m the first one arriving at the medical centre and I rush to mom’s room. Her room is filled with doctors and nurses. Esther is there too. She makes contact with me and shakes her head. No..nooo! THis can’t be! Is she dead already? Am I too late??

“Please, Esther, don’t say.. I--Is she…?” I ask her. Esther walks upon me and gives me a pet on my arm. “No, my dear. But there’s nothing we can do for her anymore. She has only hours. The venom has reached her heart and brains. We couldn’t stop it. The very first results came back an hour ago. We’ve never seen this kind of venom. We absolutely has no idea how to fight it!”

I’m speechless. This is not how it’s going to end! I walk towards mom, and caress her cheek. She feels hot, the fever is getting worse every minute. I need to take her. I need to bring her to the woods. I bend over her body frame and lift her in my arms. “Adam!! What are going to do? She can’t be moved! Adam!” Esther yells.

I’m not saying anything, I know they wouldn’t stop me. I pull the I.V.’s out of her arms and start walking to the exit of the building. Joshua is standing in the doorway. “Are you sure about this, Adam?” he asks me. I nod, affirmative.

Nurse Esther and Dr. Rose are following me, so is Joshua. I close my eyes for a second and let my heartbeat adapt to mom’s. The moment our heartbeats are exactly beating the same beat, I feel a wave of energy flowing through my body. It’s hurting, but I feel how my body reacts to it. Esther en Dr. Rose are taking a few steps back, they’re afraid of my Alpha aura, shining around at this point. Joshua is less affected, being the Beta.

“Easy, Adam. You’re aura is bursting..” Josh whispers to me. I keep silence. My body needs this energy, my aura.

-Joshua POV-

I look at Adam. I’m not sure what he did, but first he looks normal and one second later he’s shining as hell! I can feel Jaggar reacts to it a bit, he’s on guard. The alpha aura of Adam is getting stronger. “Easy, Adam. You’re aura is bursting..” I say softly at Adam. He isn’t reacting.

I look over my shoulder, and she the nurse and doctor looking down and are following at a distance. I know they’re very uncomfortable with this aura around Adam.

Then the aura changes. It’s still getting brighter with every step Adam takes, but it’s less offensive. His aura is forming a bubble, all around him and his mom. I want to touch Adam’s shoulder, to let him know I’m still here. But the moment I tried, my hand is bouncing off the bubbly shield. I can’t get through it!

There’s nothing I can do, I guess, but following him. That’s what I do, what we all do. Adam is heading to the forest. I look down - flowers are forming on every step Adam’s making, leaving a bed of flowers behind. Wow. This is insane! We walk around ten minutes and Adam stops in an open space. I look around me. We’re surrounded by insanely big trees and there’s a creek nearby.

Roots are coming from the ground, tangling around Adam’s feet and lower legs. Adam kneels and puts down Luna’s body. It’s almost 7.30 p.m., and the sun is setting. Adam looks up to the sky and a circle of light is forming above his head. He lifts his hands into the air and closes his eyes. A perfectly round, big, green circle is forming on the ground. It seems like leaves and flowers are somehow attracted to the ring, floating around 20 inches above it. Adam and the Luna are in the exact centre of this weird ring, both still shining.

The roots, leaves and flowers are forming around Luna’s body. They’re covering her legs and arms too. Adam is still standing in front of the Luna, with his hands in the air. Like he’s absorbing the light’s energy or something. After standing like that for a few minutes, Adam lowers his arms and it’s immediately dark around us.

“What the f..?” I whisper. But before I can digest what happened, the next surprise follows. In a few seconds, we’re surrounded by little sparks. It looks like they’re coming out of the ground, flying towards the sky. I feel an extremely powerful energy flowing through my body. Wiping away my worries, tiredness and hunger. I feel reborned. I look at the nurse and doctor, and can tell they’re experience it too.

“Pleease! Mom.. please.. come back to me!” Suddenly I hear Adam’s cry. He’s still standing by Luna’s body, his aura is bursting. Avery is covered in flowers, leaves and roots at this point. I can only see her face. Adam bends over her body and gives a kiss on her forehead. A bolt of energy is coming off of Adam’s body, and goes directly to his mom’s. Adam’s eyes are the brightest green I’ve ever seen, and it’s scaring the shit out of me. It looks dangerous.

Adam holds on for 5 seconds or so and then let her go. He lets his head rest on Luna’s chest, his aura is calming down. I look around me and there are no sparks anymore, the green ring on the ground is gone and all the flowers, roots and leaves are returning to their original places. Soon the surrounding is back to normal again. I look at Adam. He and Luna look lifeless. Shit!

I ask: “Adam? You’re alright? Is Luna still breathing?” Adam lifts his head and says: “I-I-I couldn’t do more. My powers were gone, I’m drained. I’m not sure if it’s enough though. Mmm-mom…?’ With tears in his eyes, he looks back at his mom.

It looked like an eternity but then we heard her sweet voice: “Adam? Darling? Where am I?”
