Birthday Party #1

-Avery POV-

It’s been two weeks now, since Adam healed the injured warriors. He couldn’t heal them fully, but enough to vanish the venom out of their blood and let them go to a normal care hospital ward. It took Adam three days to recover, it was intensive.

And now, I need to prepare his birthday. Tomorrow he turns sixteen, and that’s a massive milestone for a werewolf. But it’s stressful, Eve’s still missing and it will not be the same without her and James. After I woke up, I made James the gardener. Now I’ve take over his mind, he will do anything I want him to. But, I’m not a cruel Luna. I tried to give him a purpose and limited control over his mind. Maybe, in time, I will give him a second chance.

Anyhow. Adam’s birthday. I’m so not good at this! Normally Bonnie helps me with parties and everything that needs arrangements. Because I’m bad at it. I like quiet places, small groups of people. I’m not an entertainer. Bonnie is, she’s lovely; she has a warm personality and everybody loves her. She would’ve been a great Luna. But with Eve missing and everything that has happened the last weeks, I wouldn’t dare asking her.

I sigh. I know I’m gonna arrange a big bonfire. Adam loves being outside, and he has always been my little pyro; whenever he saw a chance, he played with fire. I chuckle. The good old times, and now he’s gonna be sixteen!

I hear a knock on the door. “Hmmmm?” I answer, lost in thoughts. I see Joshua’s face around the corner. “Luna? Can I help you with something?”

“Well, actually, you can! Come in!” I answer enthusiastic. “You know, Adam turns sixteen tomorrow and I have no idea where to start. I want to arrange a bonfire, right after the run. But I’ve no idea what else to do. Suggestions?”

Joshua smiles. “Well, my dearest Luna. I’m the perfect guy for a party. Lets do this!”

And within 2 hours, Joshua made a plan for the whole evening. From 6pm, ‘till night time. I’m on cloud nine, I couldn’t do this without his help. “Oh Joshua! You are amazing, thanks my dearest Beta..” I say to him, and I wink. He chuckles. “You’re very welcome. If you will excuse me? I’m going to make lunch for mom. She wasn’t feeling well today.”

“Off course, Josh. Is there anything I can help you with? With Bonnie?” I ask him.

“It would be nice if you can take her to the garden or something, this afternoon. And company her, she can really use some girly talk, I think. She hasn’t been outside for almost two weeks, now. Would you want to do that?” Joshua replies.

“Definately! I’ll pick her up around 2pm, is that alright?” I answer.

“Perfect! Thanks, Luna!΅

Joshua leaves the room and I look back at our plans. Well, Joshua’s plans. It’s going to be awesome!

-Adam POV-

I woke up with excitement, it’s my birthday! Finally I’m sixteen! I jump out of bed and take a quick shower. After the shower, I dress myself with a black fitted jeans and a blue and black striped sweater. I like this sweater, it’s one of my favourites. It’s the kind of sweater you can use anytime. You’re never under- or overdressed with it. It’s nice.

I hurry downstairs and the moment I open the family kitchen door, I hear a loud: “Happy birthday!”. I look surprised, the table is set for breakfast, with amazing delicious looking food on it. Steve is standing behind the table, he and Bonnie are probably responsible for the food. The kitchen is filled with all the closest people I love. I see Joshua, my mom, Bonnie and Marcus. But there’s also nurse Esther and Crissie.

Then I see Levi: “Levi! You’re here! How are you?”

He chuckles. “Hey Adam, I couldn’t miss your birthday - I had to be here! They discharged me from hospital yesterday afternoon. I’m good!”

Mom looks at me and says: “Happy birthday, my boy. Come. Sit down and lets eat! Enjoy the meal. This is only the start, you’re going to have an amazing 16th birthday!”

I sat down and looked across the table, this is amazing. Mom did great, organizing this for me. But I can’t help the feeling, I’m not ‘complete’. I miss Eve. She should’ve been here. I think this is gonna be a golden day with a black side.
