Sending invites

“And you think this will work?” I ask my mom. I hate being reckless, but right now I want to attack those bastards. That man, who’s called Ethan. Supposedly ‘my dad’. I felt nothing, when I saw him. I don’t think I look like him, and I can’t believe he’s mom’s mate. I shake my head. “Mom, this is dangerous!”

“I know, darling. But we don’t have much choice, to be honest. Yes, we have Chosen Ones. And yes, we are powerful. But, besides the fact we have good warriors, we are not a big pack. There are others, much bigger packs, who can help us. If we explain that I’m not the only Chosen One, but there are at least two more, I think they will help us.”

Mom just explained that she wanted to ask our neighbour-packs for help. She thinks that if they know that there are more Chosen Ones, they are more likely willing to help. Besides, everyone hates the Shadow Pack. And if they are really one of the forces behind this war, we have a chance. Every pack takes the opportunity to take down the Shadow Pack. They’re brutal and fearless. They have big companies, and are deadly when it comes to business ánd lives. They’re pretty much ruling the Big City, south of us. Although I’ve never been there much, I know it provides a lot of werewolves with nice jobs, a payment. Mom has some small businesses as well, over there. Keeping our pack-money-flow nice and easy. She’s great with those businesses. You wouldn’t say, but with her calm and nice attitude, she’s respected by a lot of people. That’s she proving that you don’t need to be harsh or deadly to become a well-respected person in the business.

And, I have to say. She’s right. This can succeed. But it’s dangerous, letting others know that there are more Chosen Ones. What if they turn against us, after war? Seeking for more power? We have to play this game carefully.

“Alright, your plan can work. I’ll go with Marcus to the West. The Black’s have great warriors as well. Eve, you and Joshua will go to the South. But don’t come near the city, the Shadow Pack will smell your appearances. But the Ember Pack from the South has great numbers, we can use those. Mom, you will stay here with Bonnie. The warriors will protect the both of you, when needed. But you are strong, if the attack will come in early - you will do fine until we arrive.” I say.

I look at mom, Joshua, Eve and Marcus. They all nod. “I think it’s the best when every party has at least one Chosen One with them, maybe we need to persuade them. And maybe they need to feel the appearance of a Chosen One to say ‘yes’ to the plan.” I explain myself.

“That makes sense.” mom said. I continue: “But I’m still worried about this lady.” looking at the gorgeous woman at my lap. She looks surprised. “What? Joshua will be with me, he’s going to protect me, right Josh?” She looks at her brother, and I can see the spirit in his eyes. He will do anything he can, to protect her, when needed. “I know, I know our Beta very well, little one. But you can’t forget he’s just out of surgery a few days! He’s still recovering.”

I know I’m right, Joshua knows too. He’s not interrupting me. I hear mom’s voice: “What about Zeke?”

“Zeke?” I ask. I’m considering his name, that’s actually not a stupid idea! “That’s great!” I say, enthusiastic. Zeke Jones is the guy who escaped the Shadow Pack to warn us. He proved himself, many times. He’s now living in our pack, we’re providing him shelter. Because he ‘betrayed’ his pack, they’ve banned him from their pack. Basically, he’s a rogue now. But we took him in. Although he’s not officially made a pack member yet, I see him as one of ours.

“Marcus, what do you think?” I ask. Marcus is our Gamma, and he worked with Zeke a lot, the last few weeks, months. I really want to know his opinion. Marcus is quiet, but really smart.

“I think that’s a great idea. Mr. Jones is a very faithful man, he can come in handy when it comes to persuade packs. Besides, he’s strong and knows how to fight. I agree.” Marcus responses.

“Well, that part is covered, then. If we pack our stuff, we can leave in an hour. It’s a 2 hour drive to our neighbours. We can be back before the night falls in, agreed?”

We finish our breakfast in silence, and everyone hurries to get their stuff. Eve’s still on my lap, not ready to leave yet. “This is the first time I’ll be gone, since the Shadow Pack.” she whispers, while resting her head against my chest. “I know, baby. I know.” And I caress her beautiful hair. I kiss her crown. “But it’s important, you’re a feisty and smart woman. They will listen to you. Look at you: you only have to blink, and the man will immediately say yes..” I joke.

She sighs. “That’s not true, mister Alpha-to-be. You know we need to have their full ‘yes’.”
She stands up and gives me a peck on the lips. Oh God, those lips of her! “But I’ve to pack some stuff and prepare my speech. I’ll see you later, cowboy.” And before I can say anything, she leaves the kitchen. She’s right. I should prepare some words, too.

---

I look at the party in front of me. “Alright, ready to go?”
Everyone nods. “Great. Don’t forget: when anything goes wrong, just mindlink each other! We’re not that far along, the mindlink should work fine.” I say.

I turn around to face my queen. “Little one, you will do fine. You’re a born Luna, this is going to be easy for you, I know for sure.” I say to her, and I kiss her lips. I can feel she’s nervous, although she’s trying to hide it. “I’m just a girl, a sixteen year old girl. Why should they listen to me?” she whispers. I lift her chin and look into her eyes. “Because a sixteen year old person is not a girl or boy anymore, by wolf-law. They officially need to hear you. Besides, you’re a Chosen One. You have the aura too, my dear. It’s growing everyday. Use it wisely.”

She nods and with a last kiss, she disappears in their car. Marcus stands next to me. “She will be fine, Adam. She’s strong, you know.” he says. I nod, “I know, Marcus. But she’s mine, I can’t stand the idea of losing her. I will go nuts.” I paused for a moment. “But let’s go, we have some things to do as well, the old Black is a stubborn old man. I think it’s not easy to persuade him. But, let’s hope his age will be in our favour.” and I walk towards the car.

“Uhh Adam? Didn’t you know?” I hear Marcus’ asking voice.

I’m already with one feet in my car. “What?” I ask, a bit irritated.

“The old man retired, his eldest son is now the Alpha.” Marcus says.

I’m shocked. “That bastard? That spoiled brat?” I growl, furiously. “When did this happen? Why don’t I know about it?” I ask, confused.

“Last summer, we were invited. I went there with Luna Avery. You know, that two-day trip in late August? Bonnie and James organised that big barbecue that night.”

O darn, he’s right. Because I was not the age, I wasn’t invited. But I couldn’t care less, I hated that guy. He's only two years older than me, but at every party he bragged about him being 'the man', him being able to shift while I couldn't and having the coolest wolf etcetera. How could I forget?

I grit my teeth. “This suckes. He hates me as much as I hate him. We are kind of rivales.”

Marcus nods. “I thought you knew. But you can let me do the talking, if you want to?” he asks.

“No!” I say, “I need to do this. I’m going to be the Alpha of this pack, ones. I’m failing already, if I’m going to let you speak. No offense.”

Marcus is not responding, but sits down on the passenger seat. I’m sitting down too, and close the door. I look to my right while I start the engine. “Let’s go party…”
