She is whát?

-Adam POV-

Mom visited the intruder 15 minutes ago, but she wouldn’t give me any information. She only wanted to talk with Bonnie. I’m feeling restless, we can’t waste time! Fuck that, I’m not a baby anymore - soon I’ll be the Alpha. I’ve the right to know! I quickly walk towards Bonnie’s wing and listen at the door. I hear them talk, mom’s still inside.

I hurry downstairs and wait in front of the basement’s door to get some breath. I’m gonna downstairs myself. I walk down the stairs, ready to meet the intruder again.

I stare down at his body, laying down on the stone bench. It seems like he didn’t notice me. But then he starts talking: “You’re Adam, right? Her son?”

Adam’s surprised by the sudden sound of his voice and automatically takes a step backwards. “Uhm, yes. How do you know?” he asks the intruder.

The guy sits up, and looks at Adam. “I can feel it. You have the same kind of energy your mother, the Luna, has. And the same energy as miss Eve’s too.”

The sound of her name triggers my wolf and a loud growl leaves my mouth. “So you dó know something about Eve! Start talking, ‘friend’!”

The intruder didn’t expect Adam’s reaction and in an attempt to create as much space between them as possible, the guy felt off of the bed. “Wow, easy little guy. I’m here to help your pack, not to create problems.”

“Don’t call me ‘little guy’, you punk. I’m the Luna’s son, show me some respect!” Adam tries to calm down a bit, before he continues: “Eve’s a very important friend of mine, of us. She’s like a sister for me, she’s part of our family. We need her back. You better tell me everything you know, or I…”

“ADAM! What are you doing here?” Mom’s voice interrupted mine and I shrink a bit.

I look at her, and say: “Mom! He knows more about Eve, you didn’t want to tell me anything, so I’m here to talk to him myself.”

“Enough! You need to learn about patience, my son.” Avery’s eyes burns into Adam’s. She is serious. Her eyes starts to lit up, letting Adam know she’s getting angry. “Well, you’re here already, so stay. But if you say a word, I’ll drag you out of the basement myself. Understood?”

I nod at her, knowing she’s serious. She hates to fight, never been a real warrior because of that. But that doesn’t mean she can’t. I know she’s trained well. I cross my arms and lean against the wall, waiting for information.

Avery turns back at the intruder and starts asking. “Zeke, I’ve talked to mrs. Evans. She doesn’t know. She’s as surprised as I am. We know nothing about her parents, Bonnie’s adopted when she was only one years old. With zero information about her birth-parents. Only after a few years, they found out she was a born Alpha. She fought like one, and the Alpha aura of her pack members didn’t affected her as much it should’ve done if she was an omega or so. Can you tell me more about your research?”

I listen carefully, trying not to interrupt my mom. This information is not new to me, Bonnie told us earlier. But there’s something strange about this conversation. Where is mom surprised about?

Zeke answers: “I’m sorry, Luna. I don’t have much information. I’m only one of the warriors of the Shadow Pack. Well, I guess I ‘was’.” Zeke rubs his face with his hands. “But I overheard some conversations every now and then. One of the main-hunters is a good friend of mine, he passed me some information sometimes too. Apparently they got letters with information, every week. Somebody knew about Eve’s existence and had information about Thomas’ murder, nobody could’ve known. The letters led us to your pack.”

Nobody says a word, it’s frustrating me like hell. I have troubles keeping my mouth shut. Mom feels my emotions, and sends me glares, as a warning. I roll my eyes.

Avery talks back to Zeke: “But how did you take her back to your pack? We haven’t found anything on the security footage. It looks like she vanished. How was that even possible?”

Zeke shake his head, “I don’t know, to be honest. I was a member of the team who needed to escort them back to our pack. I didn’t make it across your borders. I’ve waited in the car, a few miles before your territory starts. I’m sorry. I do know the Shadow Pack is not a pack to fiddle with. I'm not surprised if they have something up their sleeves. But…. The moment the scouts brought Eve to the car, I knew. I knew she’s different. I could feel the same energy you two have. I'm certain she’s a member of the Chosen Bloodline, too.”
