Call me King

-Eve POV-

*The day after the kidnap*

Ugh. I feel sick and lightheaded. I open my eyes, where am I? What happened? I try to look around, but my sight is blurry. I can define four walls, a small window and a desk. It looks like somebody is sitting behind the desk, but it’s too far for my blurry sight to see. I open my mouth and try to say something, but the only thing that leaves my mouth is a small whimper.

I want to say I’m thirsty, ask questions about where I am. I want to see mom and, and… I try to focus and organize my head, but I can’t. I’m so tired!

“She’s awake! Call Alpha Talon!”

I notice footsteps coming my way. Alpha Talon? Who’s Talon? I see an unknown face coming close to mine, he shines with a flashlight into my eyes. I hear his friendly voice ask me: “How are you doing, miss Eve? I think your throat hurts, the tube is still in your gullet. I will remove after the checks, until then: just nod ‘yes or no’. Do you understand?”

I’m puzzled, but I’ve no choice and I nod ‘yes’. He does some basic checks and the moment I want to push myself to sit up, I notice my hands are cuffed. What the hell?? I don’t have time to think about it, ‘cause a figure enters the room. Immediately my friendly nurse steps aside and looks down to his feet. The figure comes closer and I see a man. He has grey hair, with some brown stripes through it; I bet his hair was brown before he turned grey. It’s still difficult to see clear, my eyes hasn’t adjust to the light in this room yet. He stands still next to my bed and says nothing. He just looks at me. I look back, bored.

“Nurse, remove the tube. I need to talk to this girl.”

The nurse hurries to my bed, and as quick as possible he removes the tube of my throat while he whispers to me: “I’m so sorry, miss. Please, don’t move.” It hurts as hell, and I can’t help it, but a cry leaves my body.

I clear my throat, and it still freaking hurts. “Water..” I ask with a hoarse voice. The nurse looks despaired at the man next to my bed. I guess I missed it, but after a second the nurse rushes to bring me some water. I notice that the ambiance in this room immediately changed after this guy entered my room. The nurse acts null and the man with grey hair is walking around the room if he was the king. Shit, wait. They talked about ‘Alpha Talon’. Is he the Alpha? But if he’s the Alpha, where am I?

After I drank 2 glasses of water, I look at the guy and ask: “Who the hell are you and where am I?

“Hello, Eve. You’re in the presence of the King of the East, Alpha Talon. I’m the ruler of the Shadow Pack; I made this pack glorious and we’re the most powerful pack in the world. I am….”

I interrupt his speech, roll my eyes and say: “Bla bla bla. You’re amazing, you love yourself, you’re a narcist. Great, but I meant: WHO are you? What’s your name? And is anybody gonna explain what the hell I’m doing here?”

Talon looks like he’s about to collapse. “Did you just interrupt me?” he ask me with a squeaking voice. He quickly redeems himself and goes on: “You, little bastard, you don’t deserve answers. First you need to learn to behave. Nobody talks to me like that! I am the King of the East, the Alpha of the Shadow Pack. You will treat me with respect, otherwise….”

“Or what?” I ask, “You will kill me? Hmppff. The fact that you let them cuff me, proves you didn’t gently ask my Luna to let me join you back to this place. So, I guess you need me. But why? Why am I here?”

Talon narrows his eyes and doesn’t answer my questions. Instead, he turns around and moves to the exit of this room.

I yell after him: “Talon! Don’t you dare to leave this room. Answer me!”

He stands still, frozen in place. I’m looking at his back, he doesn’t turn around to face me. He says: “If you ever call me by my first name again, you will regret it. I’m Alpha or King to you.”

A shiver goes down my spine, I’m surprised by his ice cold tone and I can feel his Alpha aura. I stop asking. Talon starts walking again, but before he leaves the room I hear him say: “By the way, you may also call me grandfather…”
