Chapter 59
Baki's supporters erupted in applause as she showed her ability. She was able to let the ball into the goal without the assistance of her teammates as she couldn't accept that the opponent had scored. She has now proven to me that she is the CU soccer team's tiger; when she wants to, she does things her way. I'm sure she won't let their team lose, but if she keeps playing like this and doesn't need her teammate's support, she'll run out of energy quickly. They were playing as a team, and she did something improper because she claimed the entire field early. I can't dispute that she performed admirably, but I understand how it pains her teammate to believe that she doubts her mate's abilities.
Perhaps she did it out of a desire to score so that the opponent's score would not be tied. Their score is 3-1, and they still have 8 minutes left before the second quarter's first timeout. The game continued, and the ball was now in the control of the CU soccer team. I don't know the name of the person who dribbled it, but I can see that he handed it to Raf. While Teren was on his left, he dribbled the ball while Baki was on his right. They also run while waiting for the ball to pass to them while following Raf's dribble. Raf had two guards waiting in his way, and I think he calculated what would happen if he passed the ball.
While I waited for him to pass the ball, the CU students were all cheering. Baki and Teren each have three guards, so I expect Raf to think twice about who he passes the ball to. No one knew what he was going to do, and Teren and Baki did nothing but stare at the ball, which Raf kicked hard enough to travel past the opponents' heads and to Ivan, who was in front and the only one defended by the opponent.
As he reached the goal, the cheers became louder, and Ivan smiled. He didn't waste the opportunity to easily enter it into the goal. We rose out of our seats because the CU soccer team had scored their fifth point, while the opponent's score remained at one point. They still have four minutes until the break, so we can score or the opponent can score.
I don't know why Baki was dissatisfied based on her expression. She appeared irritated, and when Ivan smiled and approached her, she ignored him. Baki's unusual face piqued the friend's interest, so he asked, but she merely responded with a shake of her head.
I'm not sure if what I was thinking was correct, but I think she wants her to be the game's MVP. There's a big possibility they'll win, but there's also a good chance Baki won't be MVP since of their four scores, Ivan gave two, and they both tied the game with the same score.
She definitely wants to win MVP as a team captain, but she doesn't have to be upset with her teammates because they gain points. I wouldn't be shocked if she repeats her previous behavior of not passing the ball to her teammates because she wanted to ensure she could score. Now I see it wasn't about trusting her explanation for why he hadn't passed the ball earlier; she did it to secure the MVP place.
They are open to speak it. Baki doesn't have to be selfish in order for others to misunderstand him. They play as a team, thus they must cooperate rather than compete with one another. I know Ivan doesn't really want to be MVP; he just wants to gain points for the team, and I'm sure Ivan will understand if Baki says what she wants. He didn't want to be in that situation, and he wouldn't fight it on his own.
The game went on, and the ball was once again in the hands of the CU team. Baki had things under control, and she was acting selfishly once more, exactly as I had predicted. If she kept doing what she was doing, the opponent would notice her and they would have a better chance of defeating them. The CU soccer team only scored three goals against the opponent, but it may easily catch up and outscore them if it identifies their weaknesses and lack of teamwork.
All of the players are exhausted, so I hope Baki had comprehended what she was doing so they wouldn't waste their time. If they lose, I'm sure they'll be much more devastated. They were up 4-1 after the first quarter and if they would only be outscored in the final hour of the game, that was the most humiliating defeat.
Baki is being pursued by her opponent as she continues to run. The cheers were deafening since she had passed through multiple times in defense of the opponent. I noticed that her teammates called at her to pass the ball to them because they could see that the opponent had already put her in a tight situation, but she simply ignored them; she didn't pass the ball and instead tried to get past all the blocks until she didn't notice an opponent sliding to her side and trying to steal the ball from her.
Baki's annoyance was palpable, and she was on the verge of smoking her ear as a result of what had occurred. While her teammates continued to play, she was unable to budge from her position. As Black King Arthur now has control of the ball, the team green cheer.
I could see the teamwork in the other team and thet did not waste the chance they were given, and yet they were able to go near to the goal swiftly. Carew did not stop the ball from reaching him; instead, he fell while attempting to catch it, but he instantly got up when he heard the referee's whistle.
I could tell how pleased the Black King Arthur players were because of the loud cheers from the other side. The score was 4-2 with barely fifteen minutes remaining in the game. They took a break, and the players regrouped in their designated locations right away. Baki was being instructed by their coach, and her whole team was gazing at her from where I was seated. Their exhaustion was evident on their faces, but Ivan was still able to gaze at me despite their coach's instructions.
I knew he was tired, yet he managed to smile at me, so I didn't hesitate to return the smile. He shifted his concentration back to his coach, and after they coach finished giving game tips, all of the players sat in the reserved seat for them. Ivan took a seat next to Baki and began conversing with her. He smiled as he stood in front of Baki, who was also listening to him.
Ivan appeared to have clarified what had happened earlier, and Baki gave him a warm smile. Hopefully, they will play well this time, because selfishness does not help anyone. Every game necessitates teamwork since it is the only way to win. Whether you win or lose, the most significant thing is to work together because no medal or trophy can replace that. They are more likely to be beaten by the opponent when there is teamwork and unity.
I looked at Aly as she spoke while also looking at the position of the person I was observing. "I know you're thinking what I'm thinking, El," she said before turning to face me. "I am confident that they will win," w ith a smile on her face, she remarked, "It appears that the problem we noticed before has been resolved."
I gave her a kind nod before returning my focus to the person she was talking to. "No matter how great you appear to others, you will still make mistakes. I've been comparing myself to her all this time, Aly," I said, looking at her.
When I told her that, she seemed surprised, so I smiled at her. "Does it surprise you, Aly" That is, however, the truth," before I removed my sight from her, I added. "I feel extremely inadequate in my abilities in comparison to me."
"What makes you believe that? You're not like her, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't trust in yourself because you're equally capable. It's important to remember that we're all good at different things. You already have a bunch of problem, but you want to add to those. Stop overthinking; stop comparing yourself to her because you're not her, and you don't have to be insecure about who she is because you are not her. Please be yourself; you have your own individuality that you are oblivious to because you are preoccupied with comparing yourself to others. Consider where you are now; you won't get there unless you are competent and tenacious. There are people who will accept you for who you are, so you don't have to be like her. Like me, I won't pick her against you even she's renowned and skilled at soccer," she advised.
I took a deep breath before staring at her. She offered a real thumbs up and a genuine smile. I also gave her a thumbs up, and we touched thumbs together. I said, without pledging, "I won't forget what you said, Aly."
I can't guarantee that I'll be able to carry out her request. One of my issues is that I am unable to implement the advice I receive to myself. It's too easy for my mind to overthink, to the point that I take medicine when I can't handle the pace of my thoughts. My aunt and uncle had no idea that I couldn't always control my emotions; no one knew, and I didn't want someone close to me to know because I was afraid they would sympathize for me.
I've already stated that I don't want everyone to grieve for me. I don't want to be loved because of my plight; I want to be appreciated because I am a valuable person. I can handle myself; I've gone through this before, and I'm not going to give up now.
When the host announced that the remaining section of the game would resume, we looked to the middle of the field. As we raised our banners, we all cheered. They are already occupying their assigned roles. The CU soccer teams don't appear to be tense since their faces aren't as serious as the other team's. They are already smiling, so whatever the game's fate is, they appear to embrace it. I salute their coach; I'm sure they've changed as a result of the encouragement they've received from him.
The game has already begun, as indicated by the referee's whistle. Because the ball is in the opponent's possession, team green is roaring loudly. The players are very skilled, particularly when it comes to passing the ball. They move so quickly that I occasionally lose track of where the ball is. The CU soccer team struggled to get control of the ball and came alarmingly near to goal. One player attempted to put the ball in the goal, but Carew intervened, prompting us to stand and applaud.
Since the ball was still in the opposite group when it was seized from Teren, the match heated up even more. The opposing side's players attempted once more to get the ball into the goal, and the team green also stood up and cheered as the ball entered the goal since goalkeeper Carew had failed to stop it.
Both teams are worried since the score is 4-4. As there is just 5 minutes left, it will be over shortly. The ball was in the hands of the CU soccer team, and Ivan was dribbling it towards the goal. As the show progresses, each audience member's heartbeat becomes irregular. I'm sure the players are feeling the pressure already since they both want to win the championship.
The opponent's defense is improving in contrast to the CU soccer squad, making it tough to come near to the goal until there are only 58 seconds remaining and the opponent has even gained control of the ball. I was really frightened, but it dissipated when Ivan stole it and struck it with his full might. The ball flew through the air, and all of our gazes were drawn to it as it landed in front of Baki, guarded. The ball struck the player defending Baki in the chest, but she did not allow it to get away, and when she get it, she did not hesitate to strike it to the goal.
The referee's whistle rang with five seconds remaining. The score was 4-5, and the CU soccer team is only one point ahead of Black King Athur.
"We won," I said.
