Chapter 60
With five seconds left, the referee's whistle sounded. 4-5 was the score; the only CU soccer team in Black King Athur.
"We won," I uttered.
As they were unable to move in their seats, the CU soccer players couldn't believe they had won. All of their fans were yelling, and the host added to the excitement by making even more noise across the soccer field. Just now it dawned on me that they had truly won, so I got out of my seat and cheered while waving the banner I was holding.
The members of the CU soccer team appear to have recovered from their shock since they were able to be delighted as a result of their triumph. They huddled together, and their opponent approached them to shake hands. Their opponent congratulates them, and the host congratulates the opposing team before leaving the field.
As the other group appears to be amicable, it's conceivable that only their team captain has a rough upbringing. They were not like other groups who can no longer adorn their faces after they lose and are even capable of causing disturbance because they cannot accept defeat; I could see it in their eyes that they accepted the situation.
We continued to cheer, and I couldn't believe Aly and I were doing it. It was as if we'd lost our reticence and were able to tune out the the others. Maybe it's just because we don't get enough attention, but I can't deny that, despite a bad start to the day, I'm in a good frame of mind now.
We are pleased with the game's outcome. I know they are no longer fatigued, despite of the sacrifices they made in preparation to win the championship title. They got exactly what every soccer team had dreamed for since the competition began, so I'm sure they're having a blast right now. As they're the finest soccer team in the country, I am certain that the media will take advantage of the opportunity to see them on television.
As they jump, they are accompanied by the cheers of their supporters. I could no longer see the weariness on their faces as I glanced at them, and I was a little bit shocked when they would carry their team leader after they stopped jumping. Baki was taken aback by what her teammates did, but she quickly forgot about it as the enjoyment seized over.
As I sat in my seat, I stopped cheering. I catch my breath as I witness the entire team raise Baki and carry her across the field. When I look at Baki, I don't perceive her as a quiet person; I can't see her usually expressionless face as it has been replaced by a smile. I can't blame her if that's her look right now because she's the MVP.
It's a great feeling to acquire what you desire, especially when you've worked hard for it. There is no greater sense of fulfillment than when a person achieves what he or she has wished for, and that type of smile is impossible to fake because it is so heartfelt.
I'm sure her teammates love her because she's one of the girls on her team. She is the princess of their squad, despite the fact that she does not act or behave in a true womanly manner. I'm not sure why she's that way, but I know she's a girl, whether in heart or mind. Perhaps she was at ease in her own clothing and actions, so no one could dispute who she was, whereas if she felt at comfortable, she would stick by it. It is not bad to do something that makes you happy and confident as long as you do not infringe on the dignity of others. There's nothing about the clothing or the face that makes you appealing; if you're confident in your own face and body, you're already beautiful.
Baki is a stunning young lady. She has a slim figure, yet she does not appear to be skinny. Her style is masculine since she doesn't wear fitting clothes and prefers oversized. Also, because of the oversized clothes she is wearing, her chest is not noticeable so she looks flat chested. Her men's hairstyle suited her flat chested. On the other hand, I'm sure her body was curved even if she wasn't wearing fitting clothes at the time. Her complexion is white, and her eyes are brown. She is a tall woman with white skin and brown eyes. Her nose was little and pointed, her naturally rosy lips were small and thin, and her eyelashes were long and black with such a curl.
With her long hair and a provocative dress, I couldn't image her. If she adopts that style, I'm certain no one will recognize her. I'm sure Jas is flabbergasted and awestruck because he hasn't recognize his friend. I'm sure she's alluring, and many will be drawn to her because of her exceptional beauty.
She has everything, and I'm not sure why she's such a solitary person. Maybe she was too dull in her life because she already had all she needed. I'm sure she's got more admirers now that her gender hasn't prevented her from playing soccer and she's still the MVP. The greatest soccer players are dedicated, focused, and diligent. Now I've found that there is a woman who can play soccer, despite the fact that soccer is primarily a male sport. Maybe there are women playing as well, but I know it will be tough for them to compete with men's abilities, so Baki is the only one for me.
Aly sat down on her chair as she was weary as well. Baki was also taken down by a teammate, and the crowd's yells had faded away a little because half of the audience had already fled.
When I glance at Aly, I see a hint of happiness on her face because our school won. She sensed my attention at her and moved her eyes to me before speaking to me. "If I had known then how much fun it was to watch the tournament," she remarked, "I wouldn't have been imprisoned in a room when they had a game before. This is my first time doing something like this, and I'm glad I did. "It's fun to be out of your comfort zone; it's pleasant when killjoy and shyness aren't practiced," she continued.
I was stunned, and the smile on my lips never faded as I listened to what she had to say. "You only watched a soccer competition, yet you came away with a lot of insight," I stated. I agree with what she says and nod my head. "Still, Aly, what you stated is reasonable. I was also aware of this, and I am grateful that we were cognizant of it. We sometimes have to confront our fears since we don't realize that until we face it, we'll gradually conquer it," I continued, smiling. She chuckles, which perplexes me. "Why?" I asked.
"El, you are eligible to follow the Miss Universe. What I said was so straightforward, but your reaction is like a pageant response," she said.
We both chuckled as I couldn't respond to what she said. I diverted my gaze from her and resumed my focus to the field. Baki and Ivan are presently being interviewed by a journalist, and I am sure they will be broadcast on news television later. Auntie and Uncle enjoy watching the news, so I expect them to question about the soccer competition that took place at my school when we talk.
Ivan was the first to be interviewed, followed by Baki. She smiled as she listened to the reporter's query and answered the first and second inquiries with ease. I couldn't hear what they were asked, but I'll remember to look it up later. I'm curious as to how they responded to the questions they were asked concerning the soccer event that went occurred. If I don't know what time they'll be on TV, I'm sure news will go out on social media, and I'll be able to watch them anytime I want by the time I get home to my apartment. For sure, Jas will not miss watching her friend in the interview and now I am imagining her expression with my thought, I can see him smiling and feeling so proud.
Baki's smile widened as she was asked the third question by the reporter. Even the reporter who is waiting for a response while holding a microphone pointed at Baki is smiling. I had no clue what question Baki would respond to, which piqued my interest because he had a strange smile on his lips. Her teammates and coach, who were listening in on the interview, all smiled.
Aly inquired, "What do you suppose the reporter asked Baki?" Our minds are really connected because she is also being asked about that matter.
I didn't look her in the eyes, but I told her what was on my mind. "I'm not sure what it is, Aly. Why are you interrogating me? We're both here, so of course I'm clueless," I explained.
Before she answered to what I said, I heard her sigh. "Didn't you get what I was saying? My question is, what do you "think,"" she said, emphasizing the term "think." She said, chuckling, "I'm asking for your opinion, not the full truth."
I took a long breath and gasped before looking at her. I simply shrug and say, "I don't know." I had no notion, and I asked Aly for her opinion out of curiosity. "How about you, what are your thoughts?"
She also shrugged. "I'm not going to say," she explained, "cause you could be in a bad mood."
"What?" I inquired. I couldn't understand what she was saying, so I asked for explanation, but she only shook her head.
"Even if you're number one in the entire batch, you're often too weak to think and contemplate possibilities," she murmured.
"What are you talking about?" I questioned quietly, returning my focus to the area where I had been looking before.
Baki's response to the reporter's question made others who heard it smile even more. The reporter asked again, and she responded by shaking her head and expressing her thoughts on the topic. Baki nodded gently to the reporter before leaving, and her friends followed her, with the exception of Ivan, who gazed in the direction of Aly and I. When he smiled, I smiled back. He was clutching a phone, which he elevated slightly while staring at me. When he put down his phone, he pulled his gaze away from me, and I heard my phone ring when he returned it to me. I took it from my bag and answered his call. I placed it in front of my ear and listened to what he had to say while maintaining eye contact.
"Is it okay if I can't go with you now? I will still get dressed," he said in the line.
"It"s okay. Take your time. Have lunch with your teammates. Aly is here so I have someone with me," I stated and I saw he nodded. "Ivan, congratulations. You did well; you all did well. Congratulations to you all," I added which make him smile widely.
"Thank you, El. Congratulations to us," he said. "Congratulations to us because our school won in soccer," he made his statement clear. "I"m gonna go now, El. Take care, I will just text you when we finish lunch. "
"Okay," I simply replied and he ended the call. He waved his hand before he turned around and ran to chase his teammates.
I stood up and looked at Aly and I was about to speak when my phone rang again. When I look who was the caller is, it was Ivan who just ended the call. However, I could do nothing but answer his call. "Why, Ivan? Is there anything wrong? " I asked him and I heard he chuckle.
"Nothing, El. I just want to say thank you," he response before clearing his throat. "Thank you for cheering me, I deeply appreciated your effort to make a banner for me," he added that make me gulped and speechless. "Your banner was adorable. That was the best banner in all the audience and I am so proud and enthusiastic that my name is placed there. Your banner is my lucky charm, El. I'm not good at soccer, but my performance earlier almost became me as the MVP and it"s because of the banner I saw. Because of that banner, I had motivation and the person who made it was my inspiration."
