Chapter 88

Jas's point of view
I'm currently venturing outside of my flat to get some fresh air. I could hear music coming from Baki's house as if there was a party going on. Perhaps her soccer teammates were there to celebrate their previous game victory.
I watched their game on TV. Since it is a national soccer championship, their game will be broadcast on television. I already knew she was the MVP, so I wasn't surprised when she was named to that position. I know how amazing she is at soccer because I saw it firsthand while I was still young and had the opportunity to do whatever I wanted.
I noticed her house's main entrance open and a man emerges. I didn't recognize him at first, but as he moved closer to me, his appearance became more recognizable. Until he came across me and came to a complete stop. He smiled when he turned to face me, but I didn't return the smile.
"Do you need anything from me?" I directly asked.
If he didn't need something from me, I knew he wouldn't stop in front of me. Maybe he recognizes me as a woman he likes a friend. Yes, he is Ivan. I recognized him as the man I had seen in El's apartment. He was the one who looked after El when she became ill. I also always see him on the internet, I always see their photo so it"s impossible for me not to recognize him.
"Can we talk?" he asked, the smile gone from his lips.
I crossed my arm in my chest before I asked him. "What can we talk about?"
"You should agree first for you to know what it is all about," he responded.
"What if I do not want to?"
I had no notion what he wanted to discuss with me. I'd rather not waste my time conversing with the man who makes me envious. I had to force myself to move forward. I'm already forcing myself to bury whatever feelings I have for El. I'm already on my way to accepting that there is no happy ending when it comes to me, so if I speak with this man in front of me, I'll have to start all over again.
"About El. We will talk about her."
When I heard what he said, something seemed to stick in my throat and I had to gulp. My tongue receded and I could not utter a word.
"So, what? Don't you still want to talk to me?" he asked, smiling. "The decision is up to you. Either you prevail your pride or you let me into your house and give me a cup of coffee. So what, don't you want to?" I don"t know if he just wants to annoy me or I need to know something about El.
I turned my back at him and said, "Follow me," before I started to walk toward my apartment. I felt his presence behind me until we got inside. I went straight to the living area and sat down.
"Take a seat," I stated while he was observing every corner of my place. He also sat down and it took me a minute to wait for him to finish observing my entire apartment, but he still didn"t stop. "I'm not letting you in here to check on my apartment," I reminded him.
He turned his gaze to me and smiled again. "Are you alone here?" he asked.
"Say what you want to say."
Like I"ve said before, I'm not interested in talking to him. I was just compelled when I heard from him the name of El.
The smile faded from his lips and was replaced by his gulp as he scratched his nape. "Won't you even give me a coffee?"
"I didn't let you stay here for coffee."
He snorted and whispered into the air as he stared at the ceiling. "Doesn't he know the norms?"
"Are you saying something?" I asked and he immediately shook his head. I take a deep breath before I stand up and put my two palms in my pocket. "You can leave. You don't seem to be saying anything important," I remarked, calmly.
"Sit down again," he said seriously causing me to look at him. "I have something important to say."
I sat down again and crossed my legs. "Start now," I commanded.
"I need a beer or any alcohol so I can have the courage to tell you the thing that's bothering me."
It took me a few seconds before I gave a response. "I don't drink alcohol so I can't give you anything," I responded.
He sighed before looking at the ceiling again. "Is he human or living things that came from Jupiter?" he whispered.
I shifted my gaze to the door as my jaw tightened with restraint. "My patience can handle up to three seconds and I will start counting. One.." I counted.
He looked at me and I immediately stopped counting. "Hey! Wait, wait, wait! I'm about to start. I keep wondering what El likes about you. You are rugged and your personality is also very cold. I'm going to get a stiff here in my seat because of your treatment of me blah blah blah blah blah... "
I could not understand what else he was saying because I heard something from him that caused me to swallow. Am I hearing correctly? He doesn"t know why El liked me? Does El like me? No, that"s impossible! I will only hurt myself if I believe. Maybe, I just misunderstood what he said.
Even so, I couldn"t calm down so I couldn"t stop myself from asking questions.
"What did you say again?" I asked him. He hadn't finished what he was saying so he immediately stopped and gave me a fake smile.
"So, you don't listen to me? I've been talking here, but you haven't heard anything? You"re not only weird, but your mind is also floating blah blah blah blah blah... "
Why does he seem to have no end in speaking? I kept wondering if this man was really in front of me is a real guy.
"Stop it!" I couldn"t stop myself from raising my voice when I stopped him. It was obvious on his face that he was surprised at me because his two eyes widened. "Is what I heard right?" I asked. This time, my voice is calm.
"Why? What did you hear? I mentioned a lot of things before and I can't remember what exactly I said blah blah blah blah blah... "
"Does El like me?" I asked and that also stopped his relentless speech.
