Chapter 193 If Drawing Blood Won't Kill Her, Then Draw As Much As You Can
Should I consider calling for Jerry? A part of me wavered, not knowing if I was being overly pessimistic. Jerry had always been obsessed with Bella, but perhaps I should place a bit more trust in Claire.
Unexpectedly, there wasn't even a sound of argument outside the door. Instead, there was a loud bang as the door was kicked open.
Jerry entered, exuding a chilling aura. To my utter astonishment, he stormed in, swiftly untied me, trembling as he ripped the tape from my mouth, and scolded, "Hope Royston, how could you be so foolish again!"
I wanted to explain. "I..."
Jerry sighed, "Alright, stop talking, it's ugly."
He checked to confirm I hadn't been bled, his expression softening, though still tinged with disdain. "I'm taking you to see a doctor."
Kimberly, momentarily cowed by Jerry's aura, soon regained her composure and gritted her teeth. "Jerry Hammer! No matter what you say today, you can't take her away!"
Jerry ignored her. He bent down, intent on picking me up and leaving.
Skylar ordered the bodyguards to block the door. "Jerry. This time, I can't let you have your way."
Jerry's eyes darkened ominously. He held my flailing hands, gently rubbing the rashes with his fingertips to ease my discomfort. His usually nonchalant face was now cold and mocking. "Have you forgotten whose hospital this is? Tell your people to get out of my way."
"You can leave, but Hope Royston can't." Skylar insisted.
Jerry's eyes flashed with hostility as he sneered, "Then have your people kill me. If they can't, I will take her away. If you're going to act, do it quickly. Don't delay me from getting her to a doctor."
The Harris family dared not lay a hand on Jerry. They had already angered the RF Group. If they clash with the Hammers too, they would likely vanish from Maple Valley in no time.
Claire, both anxious and angry, hesitated before speaking. "Let Jerry and Hope go!"
Seeing this, Kimberly rushed to the door, exclaiming, "Claire! You might dislike me, but do you care so little about your own granddaughter?"
Claire, already exhausted from worrying about Bella, signed, "Can't you see what Hope looks like? If we draw her blood now, she might not survive."
Kimberly scoffed, "She's just an outsider. Is her life more important than my sister's?"
Claire, supported by a servant, could barely stand. She sighed,"I know my granddaughter. She's been kind-hearted since she was a child. If her life were taken from someone else, she would feel guilty and suffer for the rest of her life."
Skylar, exasperated, said, "Mom, you said that was when she was a child! Do you know what Bella thinks now? Ask her if she's willing to die!"
Claire held her ground. "Have you asked Hope? Just because she wasn't born in our family, does she deserve to die?"
But I also saw the hesitation on Claire's face.
Of course, anyone would hesitate. If everyone could remain principled and rational, illegal organ trading wouldn't exist.
Kimberly suddenly fixed her stare on Jerry, her voice sharp and accusatory. "What about you? Jerry Hammer, my sister is the one you've waited for over twenty years. Are you going to watch her die for Hope Royston?"
Without hesitation, Jerry grabbed Kimberly by the throat. He looked down at her, a wicked smile tugging at his lips. "I remember, your blood type matches too, right?"
Suddenly, fear appeared in Kimberly's eyes. She stumbled over her words, "I can't. I'm too thin to meet the weight requirement."
Jerry turned to the medical staff, his voice icy. "Will she die?"
The medical staff replied, "Mr. Hammer, if we control the blood volume, she won't."
Jerry smiled faintly. "If drawing blood won't kill her, then draw as much as you can."
Ignoring Kimberly's frantic resistance, he quickly tied her to another chair.
"It seems the Harris family didn't raise you for nothing. You’re so devoted to Bella; don't just talk about it." Jerry secured the knot tightly and signaled to the medical staff. "What are you waiting for? Draw the blood."
"Mom! Mom!" Kimberly screamed for help. Skylar, losing all composure, tried to rush forward, but Jerry's men had arrived and both sides stood at the door in a tense standoff.
Those wanting to leave couldn't; those wanting to enter couldn't. It was a contest of raw nerves, of who was crazier, who was more ruthless, who was more reckless!
Skylar clutched Claire's arm with a grip of desperation, her voice trembling, more fervent than when she had begged me. "Mom, please stop Jerry, he listens to you! Kimberly will really be in danger."
Claire slowly sat down, her demeanor calm and resolute. "Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? Drawing blood won’t kill her. It’s much better than Hope's situation."
The nurse had just begun disinfecting Kimberly’s skin with iodine when she started screaming, "Mom!"
Jerry turned away to help me up, intent on leaving.
Seeing the nurse take out a blood-drawing kit, Skylar went mad and lunged at me, but Jerry kicked her to the ground.
Jerry, his face cold as ice, spoke slowly. "Don’t talk to me about double standards. Skylar, I told you long ago, don’t test my limits. Since words don’t work, I’ll make you remember. Besides, why are you in such a hurry? Is an adopted daughter more important to you than your biological one?"
"You bastard!" Not far away, Jerry's father, Austin Hammer, suddenly appeared, looking travel-worn, as if he had rushed from out of town.
Austin's features bore some resemblance to Jerry's, but his face showed the shrewdness that comes from a lifetime in the world of power and money.
Austin approached, helped Skylar up, and scolded Jerry, "Who taught you to be so lawless? Apologize to Skylar! I've learned everything on my way here. What are you trying to do? For some woman who appeared out of nowhere, you want to sever our century-old ties with the Harris family?"
Jerry's expression grew colder. He said, "She's not from nowhere. and she's not a randomwoman as you call her.Her name is Hope Royston."
Austin’s voice turned stern. "I don't care what her name is. You've been spoiled by your grandparents! If you let this woman go today, don't ever think about coming back home."
Jerry seemed to almost smile. "Did your mistress have another son?"
Austin raised his hand, intending to slap Jerry, but Jerry dodged. Unable to vent his anger, Austin clenched his jaw. "What are you thinking? The family has been urging you to marry for years; you refused, waiting for Bella to return. Now that she's back, what do you want? Marry this woman?"
Jerry’s response was cold and direct. "What if I say yes?"
Jerry, usually indifferent, was genuinely angry now, his face an unreadable mask.
This nonchalant attitude only infuriated Austin more. He sneered, "You should know, I have a hundred ways to make her disappear! Get rid of that idea immediately, and let the doctor draw her blood to save Bella."
"Mr. Hammer, what a grand entrance!" Christopher, with Daniel beside him, strode down the hallway with a commanding presence and a frosty expression.
"Is there no law in Maple Valley? You want to make my wife disappear, did you inform me? And who is so precious that they need my wife's life to save them?"
