Chapter 352 The Wedding

Jerry wrapped up the meeting and checked his phone, just in time to see the message from Francis.

But something else caught his eye.

Priorities, right? He ditched the chat with Francis and opened another one.

Hope: [Jerry, Elissa found a wedding venue for us.]

Jerry had his own ideas about the venue, but since Elissa had put in the effort and Hope seemed into it, he decided to roll with it.

He texted Hope back: [So, Ms. Royston, when's a good time for us to get the marriage license?]

While waiting for her reply, he shot a quick message to Francis: [So, if I get married now, what, are you coming with an IV drip?]

Francis replied in a flash: [If you actually get married now, I'll crawl there if I have to.]

Francis was nuts.

Jerry ignored him and checked the pinned chat.

Hope: [I'm free whenever. Just depends if you, Mr. Busy, can find the time.]

Jerry was so pumped he almost dropped his phone.

Steven walked in to report something, but Jerry bolted past him.

Steven didn't even get a word in before Jerry was gone. What could be so urgent?

Feeling uneasy, Steven chased after him.

By the time he got to the underground parking lot, all he saw was the back of Jerry's car. There was still a meeting! Steven called Jerry.

Jerry didn't pick up but texted back: [Cancel all my appointments for today.]

Tranquil Haven.

After texting Jerry, I went to play with Celestia.

I never thought Jerry would drop everything and rush back.

We'd already agreed to get married, but I didn't expect him to be this eager.

On the way to get the marriage license, I was still processing it all.

"Aren't we gonna pick a date?"

Holding my documents, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves.

"No festivals coming up, but we should still pick a date, right?"

Jerry glanced at me at a red light but didn't say anything. When it turned green, he kept driving, eyes on the road.

Seeing he wasn't suggesting anything, I pulled out my phone to check the calendar.

But before I could, a big, well-defined hand took my phone away.

"What are you doing?"

"The more you check, the more nervous I get."

I couldn't help but laugh and teased, "So you get nervous too?"

Jerry put the phone aside and held my hand.

I noticed that his usually dry hand was slightly damp.

I squeezed his hand back, silently comforting him.

We didn't say much for the rest of the drive.

When the car finally stopped in front of City Hall, Jerry turned to look at me, his eyes deep and filled with tenderness, making it hard not to get lost in them.

"Hope, I can't wait any longer, not even for a second."

"If you're ready, then today is the perfect day to get married."

He had a point.

Since then, no matter what, as long as we are willing and in love, we can overcome any obstacle.

"Shall we go in then?"

"Okay."

The process of getting the marriage license wasn't complicated.

Jerry hadn't made any prior arrangements, so we just followed the staff's instructions and completed the paperwork.

When we walked out with our marriage certificate, I still felt a bit dazed.

Jerry pulled me into his arms and kissed my forehead.

The smile on his face was more radiant than usual, showing his genuine happiness.

"Honey."

Jerry's deep, solemn voice made my ears warm.

Ignoring the heat in my ears, I touched my nose and said, "Such a happy occasion deserves a celebration. Let me treat you to dinner."

Jerry raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

I breathed a small sigh of relief.

But I didn't expect that night, Jerry would still pin me to the bed, making me call him honey.

With the marriage license done, the wedding planning began.

We didn't want to delay too much, as the weather would soon turn cold.

Jerry and I didn't plan to make it too extravagant, only inviting close friends and family. The venue Elissa found was big enough.

After some discussion, we set the wedding date for mid-November.

Maple Valley's autumn and winter were usually rainy, but on our wedding day, it was a rare sunny day.

After putting on my dress, I wasn't cold at all; in fact, I was a bit hot.

Elissa teased me, "So happy to marry Jerry that you're sweating?"

"Go away."

I glared at Elissa.

Elissa laughed, "What are you embarrassed about? You should be delighted to marry a man you love each other."

After finishing my makeup, Madison came over and looked at me carefully. As she looked, her eyes started to well up.

My eyes grew hot, and I held back my tears, "Mom, let's make a deal. At the wedding, you can't cry before I do."

Madison, amused by me, held back her tears.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry! The pre-wedding games are starting!"

Elissa rushed upstairs, calling for Sophia and the others.

"Jerry's here! Everyone, come and give him a hard time!"

Sophia was all in, excited for a rare chance to mess with Jerry.

Seeing Jerry at a disadvantage was a rare treat.

But no one expected that their plans would be completely useless.

Jerry, usually so tight-fisted, was surprisingly generous today, solving everything with money.

Not just money, but also checks of varying amounts, apartments, shops, and so on.

No one there was short on cash, but they still couldn't resist the temptation.

The most shameless was Elissa, who turned her rented shop into her own, quickly welcoming Jerry in with a big smile.

Francis and Jared were groomsmen today, and their eyes were on Elissa.

Elissa wasn't wearing her usual favorite red today but a custom-made white dress. Although her behavior still showed her usual flair, she looked more gentle and beautiful enough to attract attention.

I thought that after being rejected by Elissa, Jared wouldn't have any more thoughts about her.

But now I saw Jared's eyes light up, his eager expression barely concealed.

As for Francis, he still had his usual indifferent look, lost in thought.

"Hope."

Hearing the voice, I looked at Jerry. He said to me, "Darling, let's go home."

I placed my hand in Jerry's palm, my eyes crinkling with a smile, "Okay."

With a definite answer, he lifted me in a princess carry and strode out. We headed to the wedding venue.

After the wedding ceremony, Jerry and I changed into our outfits and went to eat.

Jerry knew I hadn't had time to eat since early morning, so he fed me whenever he could.

Soon, he was pulled away by friends for toasts.

Elissa also pulled me over to eat, having already peeled the shrimps for me.

"Jerry's busy today, so I'll take over. This will be his job from now on."

I teased, "You're doing this for the money, aren't you?"

Elissa replied, "Don't give me away."

"Hope, congratulations on your wedding."

Efren raised his glass to me. Just as I was about to respond, another voice came from beside me.

"Mrs. Hammer, congratulations on your wedding!"

It was Jessa.

Jessa knew Jerry, so I wasn't surprised she came.

Elissa had been dating Efren, so she was not in the mood for Francis.

At least they wouldn't start a fight at our wedding.

But sometimes, it still worried me seeing Francis's cold face.

However, with Jessa in front of me, I raised my glass and politely responded, "Thank you."

Jessa sipped her drink and smiled at me, "Wait, I'll help you get Jerry out of there. Don't let your precious evening time get delayed, and Francis just recovered; we can't let this go on."

"Two birds with one stone," Jessa said.

I felt that Jessa's last point was the main one.

But I didn't say much, just, "Thank you."

"It's okay."

After Jessa left, I looked at Elissa.

Elissa was feeding Efren, not giving Jessa a glance.

I was really grateful that these people didn't cause a scene at our wedding.

"Darling."

As the banquet was nearing its end, Jared and his group finally let Jerry go.

He hugged me from behind, his breath warm on my ear, making me feel ticklish. I tilted my head slightly to avoid it.

Jerry nuzzled into my neck, "I've drunk too much and can't stand straight, feeling awful."

"Darling, take me home, okay?"

Why did it seem like he was faking it?

But everyone had eaten and drunk their fill. I helped Jerry sit down and, along with Madison and Molly, went to see the guests off.

In the end, it was just me and Jerry, Francis, Elissa, Jessa, and Efren.

Jared had drunk too much and was carried away.

Molly and Grace were driven back to The Hammer Manor by a driver, and Steven was responsible for taking Madison and Celestia home.

Sensing the awkward atmosphere, I said, "Thank you all. You've worked hard for our wedding. We're really tired today, so we'll treat you to dinner tomorrow night. We'll let you know the time and place tomorrow."

"It's getting late, everyone should go rest."

I looked at Elissa, "I'll give you a ride."

"Hope, I'll take Elissa. I haven't been drinking," Efren said.

I thought for a moment and asked Elissa.

Elissa hadn't drunk much, just a few sips.

Elissa glanced at Efren and waved at me, "Don't worry about us. Efren and I have other plans. You guys go ahead."

I glanced at Francis, who was clearly unhappy.

I had a feeling that if Jerry and I left, a fight might break out. Still uneasy, I said, "I have something to discuss with you. Come with me, and bring Efren along..."

Before I could finish, Jerry interrupted me, "Alright, let's go home."

Jerry finally stopped pretending to be drunk, grabbed my waist, and led me into the car, told the driver to drive.

I worriedly looked back, but Jerry turned my head back, "They're adults."

I retorted, "Are you sure?"

Jerry laughed, "Let them handle their own issues. We have our own matters to do."
