Chapter 300 How Dare You Bully Her Now
Skylar's face twisted with panic. It was clear as day: Hope had called, ready to ditch the inheritance for the antidote; but really, it was just a trick to lure out the mastermind.
Skylar clenched her teeth. It was obvious. Who'd pass up such a golden opportunity? Skylar couldn't believe Hope would give up the Harris family. Did family ties really mean that much? Hope never planned to give up; it was all a setup.
Jerry sneered, "Idiot, don't think you can outsmart us."
"Hope called you for real, for Claire, willing to give up everything. But Mrs. Harris, you know..." Jerry casually glanced around, his expression cold. "I'm not as nice as she is."
"What do you..." Skylar's eyes were wary. "What do you want to do?"
"I'm not doing anything." Jerry smiled, and just as Skylar was about to relax, his eyes turned dangerously toward Sawyer. "I just plan to call the cops."
He looked at Sawyer. "Sawyer, right? You, a fugitive from over twenty years ago, comes back with a new identity, kidnapping and poisoning. How dare you?"
With that, he gave Steven a look, and Steven immediately prepared to call the cops.
Sawyer's eyes widened, and he immediately denied, "I have no idea what you're talking about. Who's Sawyer?"
Jerry snorted, "Doesn't matter if you don't know. The cops will figure it out once they get here."
"Wait!" Sawyer shouted, knowing that Jerry's men were guarding outside and there was no way to escape, a ruthless look flashed in his eyes. "Mr. Hammer, don't you want the antidote?"
Jerry leaned against the wall, sneering, "If I want it, will you give it? Or will the person behind you give it?"
It was like he could see right through Sawyer.
"You..." Sawyer was shocked.
Cecil was already cunning enough, but now there was someone even more formidable.
Sawyer forced himself to stay calm and smiled. "The person behind me? Mr. Hammer, what do you mean? I've been abroad for so many years; who in Maple Valley could I possibly know?"
Jerry raised an eyebrow. "Fleeing from justice for so many years, at least you're looking at a life sentence, right? Prison or giving me the antidote, you choose."
Skylar was unwilling. "Hope personally promised me to give up the inheritance in exchange for the antidote."
Jerry impatiently frowned, looking down at her coldly. "Mrs. Harris, how dare you bully her now?"
Skylar took a deep breath. "Jerry. You can't be so lawless! The Hammer family isn't entirely under your control yet. Does Austin agree with this?"
"My dad?" Jerry mocked, "You'd have to ask him in the hospital. He was admitted this morning after coughing up blood."
He had learned about Austin's collapse on his way to the abandoned factory.
Steven had called the hospital, and the doctor said he would survive.
So Jerry had put it aside for now.
Skylar had been preoccupied with Claire's situation today and hadn't had time to check the news. Upon hearing this, she was stunned. "Coughing up blood?"
Jerry raised an eyebrow, pressing her, "You wanna end up like him?"
Skylar, always a bit freaked out by Jerry's cocky vibe, took a couple of steps back. "Since you know he can't give you the antidote, why make it hard for us?"
Jerry shrugged. "Not my problem. Steven, now!."
At Jerry's sharp command, Sawyer grabbed a weapon to resist, but Steven didn't aim at him.
Steven headed straight to the sofa and lifted the unconscious Kimberly.
Sawyer raised his gun, shouting angrily, "What are you gonna do with her?"
"Jerry!" Skylar got more frantic, rushing over to try to take Kimberly back, only to be kicked away by Steven. "What do you want?"
Jerry stood up straight, dusting off his clothes with his long, elegant fingers. "When I see the antidote, you can come get her."
"You!" Skylar knew he meant business and could only grit her teeth and warn, "You better not lay a finger on her!"
Jerry laughed, "Can't promise that. My aim's not great; I might miss."
With that, he left with his crew in a high-profile manner. The Bentley and several black cars took off as fast as they had arrived.
Skylar was so anxious that tears welled up, grabbing Sawyer's hand. "Sawyer, what do we do?"
"Don't panic." Sawyer was also nervous but tried to reassure her, "He's after the antidote. He won't dare harm Kimberly before he gets it."
"You don't know him!" Skylar wiped her tears fiercely. "He's always been a reckless madman! He might really harm Kimberly, especially since Kimberly and Hope have a deep grudge. He might harm her to vent for Hope. Sawyer, think of something!"
Now, Sawyer couldn't stay calm either and immediately said, "I'll call Cecil!"
The black Bentley sped down the road.
Steven, driving, spoke up with some confusion, "Jerry, there's something I don't get."
Jerry had been resting with his eyes closed. Upon hearing this, he lazily opened his eyes. "Wanna know how I figured Sawyer had backup?"
Steven nodded. "Yeah."
"He managed to dodge our surveillance and cause such a ruckus in Maple Valley. A fugitive couldn't do it alone." Jerry glanced at the night outside the window. "Besides, the patent infringement issue and this mess are likely orchestrated by the same person. But the patent issue popped up before Sawyer came back."
Steven was puzzled. "But these two things..."
"Seems unrelated at first glance, right?" Jerry continued, just as he was about to explain further to Steven, his eyes caught sight of a store, and a tender look appeared in his eyes. "Pull over."
Steven glanced in the rearview mirror and slowly pulled over. "What's up?"
"This restaurant, Hope likes it."
With that, Jerry, who would put his feet up the moment he could, got out of the car and walked straight to the restaurant.
Steven rolled down the window, thinking, 'One shouldn't be too lovestruck.'
Jerry had just packed the food and was about to return to the car when he saw Steven running over with a worried expression. "Jerry, as soon as we left, Sawyer sneaked out!"
