Chapter 315 Didn't You Say You'd Help Me Shower
Claire chuckled softly, "I see."
"That's good." I then looked at Jerry. "Let's bounce; let's drop Elissa off first."
Out of nowhere, Elissa waved her hand. "Nah, I'm not going back. Got nothing better to do, so I'll chill here with Claire. You're pregnant, head home. Don't sweat it, I'll look after Claire."
I smiled, a bit helpless. "Come on, you're overdoing it."
"Alright, alright," Elissa said, giving me a gentle shove out the door. "It's late. Go home, clean up, and catch some Z's. And hey, don't forget to grab me some of that seafood pasta tomorrow."
"Alright, I'll bring it for you." I agreed, feeling a bit touched. "Thanks, Elissa."
I knew she asked me to bring lunch just to ease my mind.
Elissa pretended to be annoyed. "What? Now that you got a boyfriend, I'm chopped liver?"
I denied it immediately, "No way!"
Elissa raised an eyebrow. "If not, then it's time to disappear with your boyfriend."
"Alright!" I grabbed Jerry and we left.
By the time we got back to Tranquil Haven, it was pushing ten.
I washed my hands and grabbed a bathrobe, heading into the bathroom.
Just as I finished showering and turned off the water, the bathroom door swung open.
I jumped, grabbed the bathrobe to cover myself, and glared at Jerry. "What are you doing? Get out!"
Instead of leaving, Jerry started unbuttoning his shirt, his eyes locked on me like he could see right through the bathrobe.
His eyes were slightly red. "Didn't you say you'd help me shower?"
I was confused. "When did I say that?"
Then it hit me, I remembered my earlier promise. "I can help you shower, but can you sleep tonight?"
He had me there.
Seeing my expression change, Jerry raised an eyebrow. "Remember now?"
"I..." I snapped out of it, only to see he was already stripped down, broad shoulders, narrow waist, muscles all defined. As my eyes traveled downward, my ears turned red with embarrassment.
"Why'd you strip down completely?"
"To shower." Jerry said with a smirk, stepping closer, leaning down, his breath warm on my ear. "And maybe do something else."
I caught my reflection in the bathroom mirror, my cheeks flushed.
I couldn't tell if it was anger at his boldness or embarrassment from his teasing.
Before I could figure it out, Jerry's hand was already on my lower back, and he kissed me gently.
I couldn't help but tremble, wanting to push him away, but in the end, I couldn't.
Besides, when Jerry had thought I might be pregnant, he had been careful and had only made love to me once.
Now that I was pregnant, he definitely wouldn't do anything reckless.
But I was still naive, never expecting he had other tricks up his sleeve.
When he held me so I couldn't run, I could only threaten him with the baby. "I'm pregnant!"
Jerry's hot breath danced over my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
I still wanted to struggle, but he blocked all my escape routes.
Jerry joked, "Didn't you say you'd help me shower? Backing out now?"
It was late and I was beat. When I woke up the next day, it was already noon.
I woke up groggy, saw the time, and freaked out. Seeing Jerry already awake, I couldn't help but blame him, "Why didn't you wake me up?"
I had promised to bring Elissa lunch.
Before he could respond, I threw off the blanket to get out of bed. Tranquil Haven was close to the hospital, so if I hustled, I might still make it.
Jerry quickly pulled me back, reminding me, "Chill. Take it easy."
He glanced at the time and added, "Your buddy should already be munching on her seafood pasta."
"What?" Then it clicked, and I asked, "Did you arrange for someone to deliver it?"
Jerry didn't respond, just raised an eyebrow. "Anyway, she should be pretty happy."
I was stunned. "Did you have Francis deliver it?"
He gave me a knowing look.
I was immediately sure.
It was gonna be fun going to the hospital later.
Unexpectedly, Elissa seemed to have guessed my intentions. When I got to the hospital, she was nowhere to be found.
Only Claire was in the ward.
Claire saw me looking for Elissa and said, "Elissa went to the office. She said you didn't bring her food, and you owe her next time."
I chuckled, "She got the goods and still said that on purpose."
I opened the thermal food container, "Jerry specifically asked Mr. Griffin for the food list and had Ellen make this for you. Try it."
With that, I served a bowl and handed it to Claire.
Claire grabbed the bowl with a sigh. "Jerry acts like he doesn't care about anything, but when it comes to you, he's all in."
I was touched and nodded.
"That's wonderful." Claire smiled at me. "Bella, you have family, a lover, friends, and soon a child. You'll be happy."
"You're right." I sat by the bed, smiling sweetly. "I'm super happy, so I'll share my good vibes with you, and we'll be happy together."
Claire tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "Alright."
For the next few days, Jerry left early and came back late.
Elissa said it was because Austin, even while stuck in a hospital bed, was still causing trouble, making Jerry's life hell.
The Hammer family situation was a mess. I couldn't do much, so I just took care of myself and Claire, so he could focus on dealing with the Hammer family.
During the days I stayed with Claire in the hospital, I also had a prenatal checkup. My hCG levels were doubling nicely, and the doc said the embryo was developing great.
I felt at ease.
Once Jerry handled the Hammer family mess, everything would be better.
Our days ahead would surely be chill and full of bliss.
The day Claire was discharged, the endless rainy days finally gave way to clear skies.
But when we got back to Tranquil Haven, our good mood was wrecked by an unexpected visitor at the door.
Larry, waiting at the door, quickly walked over when he saw me helping Claire out of the elevator. "Mom."
