Chapter 335 You Will Forget Jerry
I asked, "Did you change my clothes?"
When I woke up on the ship, I was in this beige cotton pajama set.
I was too freaked out seeing Cecil at the time, and later, I was just in a constant state of panic, only thinking about how to get out of there.
All those emotions made me forget about it.
Cecil's eyes flicked over me, and I couldn't tell what was in them, but he actually said, "Yeah."
I tensed up all over, feeling a wave of disgust I couldn't control.
I couldn't wrap my head around how my once most trusted and considerate friend had turned into this.
Even though it happened when I was unconscious, thinking about it now gave me goosebumps.
Cecil sneered, "It's just changing clothes. Why do you look so hopeless?"
He dragged me to the deck.
The cold sea breeze hit my face, howling. I still couldn't catch my breath and didn't want to talk to Cecil.
He let go of me, clearly confident I wouldn't jump into the sea.
He grabbed a chair and sat down on the deck.
I stood by the railing, keeping my distance from him.
Cecil looked at me. "I'll assume you're not used to it yet, but it's okay. We have plenty of time to get to know each other. The more intimate we become, the less you'll resist."
My stomach churned, and I turned my head to puke into a nearby trash can, wasting the meal I had just eaten.
Just thinking about Cecil changing my clothes made me uncontrollably nauseous.
Cecil frowned slightly. "Drink some water."
He handed me a glass of water, but I didn't take it.
He pointed forward. "We're about to dock."
I glanced towards the stern of the ship, but there was nothing but endless darkness.
Cecil forced the glass into my hand and patted my head. "Don't think about it. This is a private sea area; Jerry can't get in."
I stayed silent, but Cecil wasn't mad at my attitude.
He gently reached out, trying to tuck my wind-blown hair behind my ear.
I frowned and instinctively turned my head to avoid him.
Cecil looked at his suspended hand and smiled. "Sonny has his eyes on Jerry. If Jerry really wants to enter this sea area to save you, he'll have to deal with Sonny. But knowing Jerry's character, I don't think it's possible. So, he will never get into this sea area. Sonny comes from one of the biggest mafia families around here. No matter how capable Jerry is, he can't go head-to-head with them."
Hearing this, I clenched my fists. Yet, inexplicably, I believed Jerry would find a way.
Cecil continued, "Hope, I love you more than Jerry does. Stop thinking about him. If you behave, I can let you have this child. But if you keep hoping Jerry will come to take you away, I'll have to make sure you regret it."
I couldn't hold back and suddenly splashed water in Cecil's face.
Before Cecil could react, I threw the glass, discarded the black trench coat I was wearing, and went back to the room.
Even though I knew it was useless, I still locked the door.
I didn't dare to sleep, so I moved a chair to block the door.
Even if I fell asleep from exhaustion, I would wake up immediately if Cecil opened the door.
Jerry's boat was still floating outside Sonny's sea area.
Sonny kept sending him messages, but Jerry ignored them.
Sonny, pissed off, ordered his men to fire cannons, trying to scare Jerry away. But Sonny had no clue that Jerry had already hopped on a secret boat sent by the Jefferson family and had landed.
"I was curious about who had the guts to boast about helping me take down the Warren family," said Elmer Jefferson, the head of the Jefferson family.
Even though Jerry was on Elmer's turf, he acted like he was at home.
He sat right across from Elmer but stayed cautious, not touching anything on the table.
Jerry said, "Sonny tried to recruit me, but I turned him down. He took my lover. Mr. Jefferson, don't you think I should get some payback?"
Elmer's wife was someone he had pursued with great effort, but she left him forever due to a conflict with Sonny.
Elmer hadn't remarried all these years and occasionally caused trouble for Sonny.
But taking down Sonny wasn't an easy task.
So when someone sent Elmer a message, he decided to meet Jerry, regardless of its authenticity.
Now that he knew Jerry was doing this for his wife, Elmer felt it was worth a shot. "What do you need me to do?"
Jerry smirked. "Mr. Jefferson, you're a smart man. It's easy to talk to you. Since we have the same goal, there's no need for unnecessary words."
Elmer was straightforward. "I believe you, I'll take responsibility for any consequences. If I didn't believe you, you wouldn't be meeting me."
Jerry smiled, raised the glass on the table, and clinked it with Elmer's.
But he didn't drink, apologizing, "Sorry, I can't get drunk; I still need to save my lover."
Elmer didn't say anything and arranged things according to Jerry's plan.
Jerry said, "I'll handle the guards on the shore. You send a group of people to swim over, and another group to create a diversion with my boat. If you have any questions, ask my friend."
After speaking, Jerry boarded the small boat and returned to the big ship.
He called Sonny back, "I agree, but you must ensure my lover's safety."
Sonny was so excited that his speech was all over the place, finally saying, "I'll send someone to bring you in! I'm going to the shore to pick up your wife now and will make sure she's well taken care of."
Jerry hung up the phone and gave Steven a few instructions.
Francis said, "You can tell me. He's got a fever and is delirious; he won't remember your instructions. I also brought people; don't worry. We'll cooperate with you."
Jerry nodded and then boarded the ship sent by Sonny.
I was dozing off and almost fell off the chair, waking up abruptly from the sensation of falling.
I rubbed my stiff neck and checked the door. It was still locked, with no signs of tampering.
I had slept for quite a while. If Cecil had come, I would have woken up.
Just as I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, the door handle was pressed from the outside.
Realizing it was locked, the person outside didn't force their way in. "Hope, come out yourself, so your baby doesn't suffer."
I suppressed my anger and had to respond, "I'll wash my face and come out."
Ignoring whether Cecil had left, I quickly freshened up.
When I came out, I glanced through the small window.
The outside was just getting light, the sea exceptionally clear, reflecting the blue sky.
But I had no mood to appreciate the scenery.
Once ashore, who knew what Cecil would do to me.
"Hope, you have one minute," Cecil reminded.
Hearing the knock again, I hurriedly opened the door and stepped out.
Cecil tossed me a jacket, not the black trench coat from last night.
Seeing my hesitation, he said, "It's up to you. If you catch a cold, I have a doctor to treat you, but I can't guarantee the safety of the baby."
I took a deep breath and put on the jacket.
The wind outside was strong, and catching a cold during pregnancy would be a nightmare, especially in this situation.
"You really would do anything for this child." Cecil's smile made my scalp tingle. "In that case, maybe keeping it isn't such a bad idea."
I followed Cecil from the cabin to the deck.
When we disembarked, he insisted on holding my hand, and I couldn't break free.
"Cecil."
I looked over at the sound and saw a man in a purple suit approaching.
"Sonny," Cecil introduced him to me.
"This is the woman you risked everything to bring back?" Sonny looked me over and said, "You seem pretty, but I don't see why Jerry is so devoted to you."
I didn't know if it was seasickness or pregnancy nausea, but I felt very sick.
Seeing that I didn't respond, Sonny didn't say anything more to me.
He turned to Cecil and said, "I've arranged a place for her to rest. I need to talk to you."
Cecil sensed something was off. "What else do we have to talk about? You helped me escape, and I brought Hope back. We're even now. My stay here is just temporary. I'll be leaving in a few days. After that, we don't need to stay in touch."
Sonny didn't like Cecil, who was gloomy and crazy.
If it weren't for wanting to get Jerry, Sonny wouldn't waste time here.
But for now, he had to put on a show.
Sonny said, "Even if it's just temporary, you are in my place. You can't just wander around here. Come with me."
I didn't want to be alone with Cecil, so I said to Sonny, "Sir, I'm hungry. Is there anything to eat?"
Any delay was a good delay.
Sonny liked Jerry, but he had been preparing to take over the Warren family since he was a child and had seen all sorts of things.
People who didn't know him might think he was stupid, but that was just his way of protecting himself.
So Sonny almost immediately saw through my attempt to delay time for Jerry.
Sonny replied, "Of course, I even found a chef from your country."
I slightly curved my lips. "But I want to try the local food here. I heard the beef is good."
Sonny seemed helpless. "Fresh beef needs to be slaughtered. If you want beef, you'll have to wait a while."
I said, "That's fine. I can wait."
Cecil suddenly pulled me close to him.
I didn't look at him, just steadied myself and looked at Sonny.
Cecil forcibly turned my face towards him.
Facing his abyss-like eyes, I was still nervous. "What are you doing!"
I slapped his hand away angrily, trying to cover up other emotions.
Cecil grabbed my shoulder with great force, making it numb with pain.
He said to Sonny, "You want Jerry to be yours, and I won't interfere. But if you think you can use my woman as a bargaining chip, you're dreaming."
Sonny laughed. "What are you thinking? I'm just using her to lure Jerry to the island. Once he's on my turf, I can do whatever I want."
Hearing this, I felt a chill down my spine.
Earlier, I had tried to use Sonny to delay time because I sensed he didn't want to give Cecil and me a chance to be alone. I guessed that Sonny might have made some deal with Jerry.
If that were the case, Jerry would definitely come to the island.
Hearing Sonny's words, I started to worry about Jerry's safety. But there was no way to signal Jerry.
"Stop thinking about it," Cecil leaned close to me. "Even if he gets on this island, he won't be able to take you away. I won't let you two meet."
After speaking to me, Cecil said to Sonny, "Say whatever you need to deceive him. It doesn't matter if she's in front of you or not. I'll make my own arrangements. I have my own place to stay. Don't worry about meals; I'll handle it. In a few days, I'll leave with her."
Sonny, not knowing what Cecil was planning, just said, "Suit yourself."
My heart sank; I had no chance to delay time.
Jerry arrived at the shore and quickly scanned the area to count the people.
"Jerry," Sonny walked up to him quickly, arms open for a hug.
Jerry sidestepped and bluntly asked, "Where is my lover?"
Sonny's eyes were practically glued to Jerry.
Jerry suppressed his anger and asked again.
Sonny said, "Don't worry. She's fine. I prepared some food. Let's eat first."
Something flashed quickly in Jerry's eyes, and he coldly said, "Fine."
Sonny was delighted, thinking Jerry was in his grasp.
Throughout the journey, Jerry ignored whatever Sonny said.
He appeared casual but was actually observing his surroundings.
When they passed a bush, he saw something reflecting light but didn't mention it. He just casually pointed to the right. "Is that an undeveloped forest?"
Sonny was thrilled that Jerry was talking to him. "Yes, it's undeveloped. If you have any ideas, you can develop it as you like."
Jerry glanced at the bush again and continued walking.
Sonny followed behind him. "I specifically hired a chef from your country to make your favorite dishes."
Jerry wasn't surprised; it wasn't unusual for Sonny to find basic information. But he wouldn't let Sonny find out anything deeper.
Entering the dining room, Sonny pulled out a chair for Jerry. "Jerry, sit."
Jerry didn't say anything and sat down.
Sonny sat next to him, serving him food.
Sawyer was also on the island. He had always resented Jerry for taking the Harris family property. Of course, he came to take back the Harris family property.
Skylar came along too.
Kimberly had been mentally unstable since leaving Jerry and was in a sanatorium for treatment.
Skylar came not only to reclaim the Harris family property but also to take my life.
She thought that the pain she endured had to be repaid a thousandfold.
As long as I died, Jerry would be in unbearable pain.
Once on the island, with no strong wind, I casually discarded the jacket.
Cecil just glanced at the jacket and led me into the forest.
Judging by his demeanor, he hadn't noticed my ulterior motives, but I couldn't let my guard down.
After walking a distance, the area opened up, revealing a small wooden cabin. It seemed to have been cleaned in advance, spotless.
Cecil said, "Sit down and rest. I'll get you something to eat."
Cecil patted the edge of the bed. Seeing that I didn't move, he pressed me down to sit down.
He half-knelt, looking at me with gentle eyes. "Bear with it for a couple of days. I'll make it up to you. I won't let you suffer anymore. Hope, trust me. I'll make you happy, and you'll forget about Jerry."
