Chapter 52: I'll Teach You

In the next few days, Charles kept bringing Anna her meals like clockwork. They'd chow down together at lunch, then he'd stick around for a nap in the lounge with her. Even though her lower belly was bugging her, at least she was getting some solid sleep at night.

This whole routine went on for about six days. Then came Friday, and Anna had the next day off.

When they got back to Regal Retreat, they walked into the lobby and bam, there was a shiny new piano in the corner.

Anna pointed at it and asked Charles, who was coming down the stairs, "Did you buy that?"

Charles nodded. He led her over to the piano, hit a few keys, and the sound just flowed out, all smooth and clear.

"I'm thinking of redoing the third floor, making rooms like a music room, art studio, and a home theater," Charles said.

That night, Charles had dinner all set up before Anna got off work. After they ate, he took her to the piano. "Anya, how about I teach you to play?"

Anna looked at him, puzzled. "I already know how."

Charles's eyes flickered a bit, and he asked, "Did Michael teach you?"

Anna didn't seem too keen on talking about Michael and just nodded.

Back when Wesley and Odette were around, they got Anna a private piano tutor. But she had so much on her plate back then, she only got halfway through her lessons.

Later, when she went abroad, Michael taught her to play to kill time. In the years she spent abroad, whenever she missed Michael and he wasn't around, she'd call him while playing the piano.

Charles didn't need the details to figure out what went down between her and Michael. His face stayed neutral.

"Anya, you don't have to play the piano solo; we can play together." He said, pulling her to sit down. His long fingers hit the keys.

Around seven in the morning, Anna had just fallen asleep but woke up thanks to her internal alarm. She was about to get up but then remembered she had the day off and didn't need to go to work.

Thinking of that, she turned over and snuggled back into the comfy bedding, drifting off again.

Until eleven-thirty in the morning, Charles went upstairs and woke up the blanket-hugging Anna.

"Anya, time to get up," he said.

He pulled back a corner of the blanket and started massaging her waist.

When he brought her upstairs this morning, it was already dawn outside. She didn't check the time, but it was probably close to six o'clock.

Now, it was just after eleven. She'd only slept for a little over five hours, so she was still beat.

Anna, not having slept enough and feeling the pain in her body, naturally woke up grumpy. She curled up, avoiding his hand, and didn't even open her eyes.

She hummed dismissively, planning to keep sleeping. But within seconds, Charles's hand was back.

"Anya, get up and eat something before going back to sleep," Charles said.

Last night, she got hungry in the middle of the night, but she didn't have a midnight snack since it was bad for her digestive system. Now, it was noon, and if she kept sleeping, it would soon be evening. Not eating for so long would be bad for her.

But no matter how much Charles coaxed, the sleepy Anna just ignored him.

For the first fifteen years in her life, Anna had been pampered and spoiled by Wesley and Odette.
