Chapter 58: The Third Type of People
"Anya, let Ethan take your shift next Wednesday. You're coming with me to the auction," he said before heading upstairs.
In the next few days, Michael and Thalia were all over each other, and every social media platform and news outlet was buzzing about their upcoming wedding.
While Michael and Thalia were soaking up the limelight, Charles and Anna also found themselves back in the public eye. But the buzz about them only lasted for like an hour online. Apex Holdings Group shut it down real quick.
Maybe because Anna didn't react to their wedding date, Michael kept spamming social media with pics of the wedding date and wedding dresses. Day and night, Anna's phone was blowing up with notifications.
With a cold stare, Anna unfollowed and blocked all of Michael's accounts on every platform as the notifications rolled in.
If Charles was around, she'd delete Michael and follow or add Charles as a friend on that platform.
If Charles wasn't around, she'd just unfollow and block.
When Michael checked her updates, he found out she had blocked him everywhere except Facebook and her phone number.
Seeing all the envious and flattering comments online made Thalia feel like she was on cloud nine.
On Tuesday afternoon, Thalia waltzed into the CEO's office and said in a flirty tone, "Michael, I don't really like those wedding rings. Can we pick new ones?"
Michael, sitting in his swivel chair, looked up coldly. "Out of hundreds of rings, there's not a single one you like?"
Thalia, lost in her happiness, didn't catch the impatience in his voice. She gently shook his arm, thinking about the auction everyone was talking about, and said softly, "Michael, I heard there's a rare pink diamond at the auction tomorrow. I want it. Can you come with me to get it?"
Michael didn't want to go. Anna had deleted him from her social media, and he was in a foul mood.
But then Thalia casually mentioned, "I heard Anna and Mr. Percy are going to the auction too. Maybe we'll see them there."
Hearing this, Michael swallowed his refusal and changed his mind, "I'll take you tomorrow."
"Michael, you're the best!" she said, bending down happily, almost pressing herself against him. Especially since she was wearing a low-cut short dress, bending over revealed most of her chest.
A flash of disgust crossed Michael's eyes. He pulled his arm out of her embrace, not even looking at her, and said coldly, "Leave now. I have work to do."
Thalia was bummed, but she knew better than to push Michael too hard. Now that he was actually planning the wedding and showing her some love, she had to play it cool.
Thalia wasn't dumb. Michael's sudden change in attitude was fishy.
Something was definitely up.
Sierra had also warned her not to be as bratty with Michael as she used to be. After all, she wasn't Anna. Michael didn't like her the same way. He wouldn't put up with her crap or spoil her like he did with Anna.
So, to keep this thing going, she had two options.
One, get hitched fast.
Two, get knocked up.
But to everyone else, Michael and Thalia seemed like the perfect, lovey-dovey couple. Only Thalia knew the truth—Michael had never even touched her.
Meanwhile.
Crystal City SWAT Division.
Patrick barged into the captain's office, where Austin was busy tracking fugitives. "Captain, someone's here to see you!"
When someone as lazy as Patrick got all formal, it was never good news.
Austin didn't even look up. "Who?"
Patrick coughed, trying to hide his excitement. "It's Miss Green."
Hearing that, Austin frowned. He kept typing, maps of Crystal City routes flashing on his screen. "Tell her I'm busy."
Patrick sighed and went out to relay the message to Tina.
But five minutes later, Patrick was back. "Austin, Miss Green said she has time. She'll wait outside until you're done."
"Let her wait," Austin said, not budging.
Seeing Austin's indifference, Patrick stood at the door for a moment, then headed back to the hall.
Tina was sitting on a bench, scrolling through her phone, looking bored. When she saw Patrick, her eyes lit up. "What did Austin say this time?"
Patrick sat down across from her, hesitating. "Miss Green, maybe you should go back."
Tina got the hint. She turned off her phone and asked, "Austin doesn't want to see me?"
Patrick, facing such a beautiful woman, couldn't be too harsh. But Austin was a cold guy. He didn't have a soft spot for anyone.
To Austin, there were only two types of people: guilty and innocent. Gender didn't matter.
As Patrick thought about it, he remembered the time at Radiant Life Hospital when Austin had given his private number to Anna.
Patrick reconsidered; maybe there was a third type of person.
The third type was Anna!
