Chapter 79 What Do You Want?
The next morning at 7:10 AM, Charles had breakfast ready and yanked Anna out of bed. "Time to get up, Anya."
Anna was still groggy, barely able to keep her eyes open.
Charles felt a pang of guilt seeing her state. "Maybe I pushed you too hard yesterday. How about a day off?"
Anna yawned and rubbed her eyes. "Nah, I can handle it."
Charles carried her to the bathroom, and after breakfast, they headed to Room 308 at Radiant Life Hospital.
On his way out, he bumped into Ethan, who was strolling by lazily.
Ethan gave Charles a knowing look. "Showing off your love again?"
Charles usually ignored Ethan's teasing. "Today, you'll need to pick up some extra slack in the department."
Ethan glanced at Room 308's door with a smirk. "I'm the director of a private hospital, and now I have to do extra work for you? What's in it for me?"
Charles shot him a look. "What do you want? Just say it."
Ethan's eyes lit up. "I've been eyeing that limited edition supercar in your garage."
Without hesitation, Charles said, "It's yours."
Ethan's grin widened. "Alright, Mr. Percy! I'll make sure Mrs. Percy doesn't lift a finger."
So, the whole day, a weird scene played out on the third floor of the emergency department.
Every time a patient entered Room 308, Ethan would swoop in within seconds and whisk them away.
By the end of the day, Anna hadn't seen a single patient. Ethan had taken them all.
After two more days of work, Anna finally got a day off.
Her first day off was for the class reunion Aurora had mentioned.
The reunion was at the swanky Seraphic Heights Hotel.
Outside the hotel, Anna got out of the car and saw Aurora arriving from another direction.
Just as she was about to walk over, a young guy got out of Aurora's car.
Anna paused.
Aurora spotted Anna and waved excitedly, hurrying over.
"Anya!" Aurora linked arms with her.
Anna glanced at the guy walking towards them and whispered, "Aurora, who's he?"
Neil had already reached them, smiling innocently and nodding at Anna.
Aurora explained, "Neil Walker. I just met him yesterday. It was a disaster—I forgot my wallet at the club, then got robbed. But he happened to pass by the club and heroically subdued the robber, helping me get my wallet back."
Anna frowned. "Someone still dares to rob in broad daylight?"
Aurora shrugged. "That's why yesterday was just awful but lucky."
If Neil hadn't shown up, her wallet would have been gone.
Anna asked, "Did he catch the robber?"
Aurora shook her head.
Neil spoke up softly, "Sorry, I only managed to get Miss Brown's wallet back. The thief got away."
"Don't say that," Aurora said. "If it weren't for you, I'd have lost everything. You've already done so much."
Neil smiled and stayed quiet.
Aurora sighed and shook her head, trying to forget about yesterday.
Linking arms with Anna, she said, "Let's not dwell on it. It's getting late; let's go inside."
"Okay." Anna nodded.
They walked towards the hotel, with Neil following behind.
As he watched Anna, a subtle, unreadable expression crossed Neil's face.
