Chapter 84 She Could Only Love Him

Michael got back to the Tudor Group and wasted no time calling Nolan in.

"How's the dirt on Charles coming along?" he asked.

Nolan dropped a stack of papers on Michael's desk. "Got all of Mr. Percy's scandals from this year right here. But."

Michael's brow furrowed as he flipped through the pages. "Spit it out."

Nolan started, "Well. from what we've dug up, it looks like all those scandals about Charles are just hot air."

Michael's fingers froze. "What are you saying?"

Nolan looked down. "Turns out, all those rumors about him and those women? Total BS. He never even got close to any of them."

And by "close," Nolan didn't just mean physically.

According to the folks involved, even stuff like kissing or holding hands never happened.

To put it bluntly, some of them said they never even brushed against Charles' clothes.

As crazy as it sounded, Nolan couldn't shake the feeling that Charles had been telling the truth all along.

Michael's face darkened as he listened to Nolan's report.

He kept flipping through the photos of the women involved in the scandals, and then something clicked.

The women Charles picked.

They all kinda looked like Anna, especially their eyes, noses, and the shape of their lips.

Realizing this, Michael started flipping through the photos faster.

He compared each one carefully and suddenly it hit him—Charles wasn't looking for scandalous flings.

He was looking for women who reminded him of Anna.

In other words, all these women were just stand-ins for Anna.

This realization made Michael's heart race.

He used to think Charles just wanted Anna for her looks.

That once he got bored, he'd move on.

Michael never thought Charles had been obsessed with Anna for a long time.

Or maybe, Michael had just refused to see it.

He always saw Anna as his. No one else was allowed to even think about her.

Over time, this turned into an illusion.

An illusion that everyone knew Anna was off-limits.

But he never expected Charles to be the exception.

This realization made Michael's eyes grow colder.

He slammed the documents shut, trying to keep his anger in check.

Michael looked up and asked, "Did you find the woman I asked about?"

Nolan nodded quickly. "Yeah, her name's Mandy Ross. After Charles kicked her out of Crystal City, she started hanging around rich guys, making a living as a sugar baby."

Michael didn't care about her past.

He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes. The image of Anna clinging to Charles at the banquet flashed in his mind.

The way Anna looked at Charles, that unconscious dependence, and how she just accepted his touch—it felt like a punch to Michael's gut.

That suffocating, hidden pain made him darken. Anna, the girl he raised, how could she look at Charles like that? Those eyes were supposed to be for him.

She was meant to be by his side, with only him in her eyes and heart, just like the past eight years. There was only him in her life—only him.

Michael closed his eyes tightly, and when he opened them again, he had calmed down a bit.

"What about the kid?" he asked.

"It didn't make it; she miscarried a long time ago," Nolan replied.

Back then, Mandy tried to use the baby to force Charles, even dragging the media into it, hoping public pressure would make Charles marry her.

But she didn't expect Charles to be so ruthless.

In less than half a day, he erased all traces of her in Crystal City and kicked her out.

Later, she lost the baby too.

"Got a photo of her?" Michael asked.

Nolan handed over some photos. "The one on the left is from when she was in Crystal City, and the one on the right is her now."

Now, after being a mistress for so long, Mandy had a strong air of debauchery.

Michael studied the photo on the left.

Even though Mandy's features weren't exactly like Anna's, her overall vibe was somewhat similar.

After a few seconds, Michael's eyes zeroed in on Mandy's.

He turned to Nolan and said, "Get her plastic surgery done ASAP."

Nolan was confused about the sudden need for surgery.

Michael tossed the photos on the desk.

His fingers interlaced, and his heavy gaze locked onto Nolan. "Make her eyes look like Anna's, got it?"

Nolan met Michael's gaze and got the message.

He nodded immediately. "Got it."

Before Nolan left, Michael added, "Make it quick. I can't wait too long. And keep Mandy's return to Crystal City under wraps; don't let Charles' people find out."
