Chapter 76 Bringing Her Back to Brightfall Would Be Interesting
Neil played the video again, and in the empty hall, he could clearly hear a couple of soft, delicate voices.
Ivan and Quentin, though resentful, didn't dare say a word in front of Neil.
After a moment, Neil looked at Anna in the video and commented, "A beauty like this, bringing her back to Brightfall should be quite interesting."
Hearing this, Quentin got a bit anxious and reminded. "She's Charles's wife."
A few traces of wildness appeared in Neil's eyes. "Charles? What about the Percy family? Against our gang and Brightfall, it's hard to tell who would win."
Quentin and Ivan exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with the same intense killing intent.
Ivan said, "But we're currently being hunted by the Crystal City police. Provoking a more powerful family like the Percys might make it even harder to escape later."
Quentin and Ivan's continuous objections made all the smiles disappear from Neil's face.
The pressure in the hall seemed to drop instantly.
Neil crossed his legs, looked up at Quentin and Ivan in front of him, and spoke in his usual leisurely tone, but the warning and murderous intent in his words sent chills down Quentin and Ivan's spines, "Quentin, Ivan, understand this: I'm in charge now, not your Joseph. Stop using the tactics you 'loyally' served the Godfather with around me. I don't need you to teach me how to do things, got it?"
This sentence was like an invisible iron hammer smashing hard on Quentin and Ivan.
Their faces contorted in anger, and they kept silent with tense expressions.
Neil squinted his eyes, then looked away, picked up a cigarette from the table, lit it, took a puff, and said, "Get out!"
Outside the apartment, Quentin and Ivan walked out with gloomy faces.
After walking a bit, Ivan stopped, looked back in the direction of the apartment window, and spat on the ground. "If Joseph were still here, would the whole of Brightfall be handed over to him?"
Joseph had two sons, but neither of them survived.
Later, he adopted Neil.
Although he was adopted, Joseph didn't give him any support.
Instead, during those years in Brightfall, Neil was like a stray dog - ignored and unwanted.
Joseph adopted him not because he valued him or intended to hand over his legacy to him.
It was just because his two sons died one after another, and Joseph wanted to see if he was naturally cursed to lose his children.
So, he randomly picked someone from the crowd and treated him as a "son."
Not long after, Joseph was killed in Crystal City.
Brightfall and the gang were left leaderless, which allowed Neil to take over all the power.
People like Quentin and Ivan, who had followed Joseph for years, were fundamentally unwilling to accept Neil as their new boss.
They, like Joseph, never saw Neil as the next leader.
But by a twist of fate, the entire Brightfall was forced into his hands.
Quentin, Ivan, and some other past Joseph subordinates originally planned to secretly eliminate Neil once the situation in Brightfall stabilized a bit.
But when they were ready to act, they realized that Neil's obedient and innocent behavior in Brightfall all those years was just a facade.
Neil's true nature was unpredictable, and his mind was as deep as the ocean. His schemes and methods were ten times more ruthless than Joseph's.
These people were powerless to dislodge him.
Quentin walked over, pulled Ivan along, and warned in a low voice. "Watch your words, Ivan. Do you want Neil to catch you saying something wrong and then get rid of you?"
Inside the apartment, Trevor Walker and Neil were talking.
"Sir, after all these years, Quentin and Ivan are still hard to bring under control. Should we." Trevor asked.
Before he could finish, Neil directly said, "Kill them."
This sentence made Trevor pause.
But under Neil's gaze, he felt a jolt in his heart, quickly lowered his head, and replied, "Yes!"
Trevor was different from Quentin and the others.
Back then, Joseph had ten loyal subordinates who had all been saved by Joseph, so they changed their last names to Walker.
However, those ranked after the tenth were Neil's own confidants, like Trevor.
"Have you found out which police force was chasing us that day?" Neil asked.
Trevor replied, "From what we can see, it should be the SWAT team, but since we don't have the authority to investigate Crystal City's traffic surveillance, we can't find out exactly which team it was."
Neil didn't seem to care much about this.
He flicked the ash from his cigarette, his face showing a sinister and murderous look.
"As long as it's not that batch of the strongest SWAT team secretly trained by the government," after saying this, Neil paused for two seconds and corrected himself, "Even if it is that SWAT team, it's no big deal. The hardest one to deal with is their captain. As long as we don't get targeted by him, we're safe."
Trevor agreed with this view.
The government secretly trained a SWAT team called as the Death SWAT. They fought as if already dead, unafraid and even yearning to die in battle. With their last breath, they would drag the enemy down. Death, the greatest human weakness, held no dread for them.
That Death SWAT team had a name, "Aegis Sentinel."
And their captain was someone whose details and whereabouts no one could find out. Just the code name "J" was enough to make all international criminals tremble with fear.
Neil extinguished his cigarette, threw it in the ashtray, and instructed Trevor, "If we really can't shake off those SWAT, then throw Quentin and Ivan out, understand?"
Trevor immediately nodded. "Yes, sir."
After dealing with this matter, the harshness on Neil's face faded a bit.
He picked up his phone, played the video again, and looking at the delicate and beautiful Anna, he asked Trevor in a good mood, "Pretty, isn't she pretty?"
"Yes!" Seeing the interest in Neil's eyes, Trevor couldn't help but ask, "Should I look into her?"
Neil looked at Trevor approvingly, turned off the video, and stood up. "Look into her thoroughly."
"Yes!" Seeing Neil heading out, Trevor instinctively asked, "Sir, where are you going?"
"Out for a walk, see if there's anything fun," after saying this, he waved his hand to prevent Trevor from stopping him and said, "No one outside knows I've left Brightfall, so even if I show my face, no one can recognize me."
Before leaving Brightfall, Neil had deliberately released false information.
Currently, the information Austin and the others received was that Joseph's past subordinates had come to Crystal City.
So, the SWAT team's mission was to arrest Quentin and the others.
As for Neil, although he had conducted countless international deals, he had never shown his face in public.
Only a few trusted confidants had seen his true appearance.
