Chapter 75 Neil

Lester snapped, "What's the big deal? There are tons of people at the police station. Can't I, as a citizen, come here too?"

Austin, pinching the bridge of his nose, sighed. "What are you doing here?"

For someone as tough as Austin, this was him being unusually patient.

Lester wasn't about to push his luck on that front.

He looked straight at Austin and asked, "Austin, when are you bringing my daughter-in-law home so I can meet her?"

Austin, sticking to his usual excuse, replied, "Dad, work comes first. I don't have time for romance."

Plus, his job was way too dangerous.

Getting married wouldn't lead to a happy life for her; it might even putting her in harm's way.

So, Austin had always kept his distance from women.

He was scared that if danger came knocking, it would drag her into it too.

Naturally, with his cold demeanor, no woman had ever caught his eye.

Hearing the same excuse, Lester cut to the chase. "What about that young girl whose hand you were holding earlier?"

Lester's eyesight was a mixed bag; he saw what he shouldn't and missed what he should.

But saying he had good eyesight was also wrong; he couldn't even tell who was pulling whose sleeve.

Seeing Austin stay silent, Lester pressed on.

Austin, feeling cornered, finally said, "Dad, she was just someone I rescued during a mission."

Lester answered, "Oh. Since you met her on a mission, it means you two are fated."

"How about this." Lester thought for a second and then decided. "Since you two have such a connection and you treat her differently, we will accept her as our daughter-in-law."

Austin, suddenly being set up for marriage, was totally confused.

Lester didn't even look at Austin and kept going. "Given your special job, always on missions and rarely home, you and that young girl should quickly prepare to have a child."

This was getting more and more ridiculous!

Lester kept rambling. "I heard that she is a celebrity. We can't let marriage delay her work. Afterward, you can send your child to your mom and me. We'll take care of the kid, and you two won't have to worry about anything."

Austin couldn't take it anymore and cut him off. "Dad, I don't like her."

Lester paused and looked at him for a while.

He said quietly, "I've never seen you like anyone. But our business needs to be passed down, and we need an heir, right?"

Before leaving, Lester looked back at Austin and said one last thing, "If you really don't want to get married, your mom and I have discussed it recently. You can go to the hospital for a test-tube baby!"

"Dad, I have work to do. Please leave!" Austin directly shooed him away.

After Lester left, Austin sat behind his desk, frowning at the information on his computer.

Although Austin's eyes were on the computer screen, the mouse cursor hadn't moved for a long time.

After a while, Austin closed the computer and opened a small drawer at the top.

Inside was the crystal that Tina had given him last time.

Meanwhile, in a nondescript apartment hall in downtown Crystal City, a young guy in a black hoodie lounged on the sofa, his hawk-like eyes fixated on a small video playing on the table before him.

Three of his guys stood around, all watching the video too.

Neil Walker's thumb brushed his lips, his interest piqued.

After the short video looped a few times, Neil tapped the screen with his finger.

The video paused.

He pointed to the stunning girl on the screen. "Who is she?"

Quentin Walker, standing on the far left, glanced at the girl Neil was pointing at, a flash of killing intent in his sinister eyes. "Mr. Walker, her name is Anna Howard."

Neil's lips curled into a playful smile, his emotions unchanged.

But his gaze at the screen seemed to shift slightly. "Oh? Howard?"

Neil rested his hand on his chin, thought for a moment, and then looked at Quentin. "Wesley's daughter?"

Quentin's eyes filled with deeper hatred, but facing Neil's gaze, he nodded. "That's her."

Ivan Walker, standing nearby, also felt indignant, but Neil's unpredictable nature made him hesitant to speak.

Neil's interested gaze fell again on Anna, who was being held by a tall man on the screen.

He chuckled lightly, his meaning unclear. "This Wesley not only has excellent medical skills but also good genes. His daughter is such a beauty; you can't find many like her in the whole country."

Sensing Neil's strong interest in Anna, Ivan couldn't hold back and said, "Mr. Walker, I must remind you, eight years ago, it was Wesley's non-cooperation that led to Mr. Long's death. Both Wesley and Anna are our enemies and the enemies of the entire Brightfall."

Neil's smile didn't change.

But the warmth in his eyes instantly disappeared.

A chilling coldness swept over with a hint of menace.

Mr. Long was Neil's godfather, Joseph, who was the biggest international gang leader and the true ruler of Brightfall eight years ago.

Eight years ago, during a large-scale international currency transaction, he was pursued by Crystal City's detectives. He was seriously injured during the chase. Although he narrowly escaped arrest, his injuries were severe, preventing him from returning to Brightfall.

He then hid in Radiant Life Hospital.

Joseph held Wesley, who was on duty, at gunpoint, threatening him to treat his injuries.

Joseph was a notorious international gang leader, and with Crystal City's detectives conducting a city-wide manhunt for three consecutive days, Wesley had already memorized his appearance.

Seeing Joseph on the hospital bed, Wesley didn't compromise to treat him. Instead, he used the opportunity to treat his wound by stabbing his main artery with a scalpel.

Joseph, being extremely ruthless, used his last bit of strength to stab Wesley with a sharp knife he carried.

Wesley's action successfully killed Joseph, who had troubled the police for years, but the cost was his and Odette's lives.

Quentin and Ivan were loyal followers of Joseph back then.

With Joseph's sudden death, they naturally harbored hatred. But their forces had weakened significantly, and they had to retreat to Brightfall to survive.

Now, back in Crystal City, Quentin and Ivan wanted to kill Wesley's daughter to avenge their past grudge.

But it seemed that Neil, with his unpredictable nature, had other thoughts about Anna.

Ivan looked up at Neil, wanting to say something.

But thinking of something, he just frowned and swallowed his words.

Neil might look harmless and handsome, but only those around him knew how chillingly ruthless he was at heart!
