Chapter 69 I Want a Divorce!
Listening to Anna's words and picturing the scene in her head, Aurora couldn't help but shiver.
If Charles found out, she would definitely be out of a job.
But then again, the Serenity Lounge was super private, and Charles was out of town on business. No way he would find out.
With that thought, Aurora's nerves settled. She handed her wine glass to Anna. "Relax, Anya. Charles is away on a business trip. We're just gonna have some fun for a few hours; he won't know."
Anna took the wine but didn't drink. She glanced at the door and asked, "Is it safe to drink here? What if we get drunk?"
Aurora waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry, Anya. Serenity Lounge is the top spot in Crystal City because they totally respect their customers' privacy."
If people were just here to drink and chill, the gigolos wouldn't take advantage of anyone who got drunk.
Aurora explained, "When I first started working, everything was a mess, and I was super stressed. Every time I had a day off, I'd come here to unwind."
And if anyone got too drunk, they could just crash in the private room. The sofas were practically beds, perfect for sleeping it off.
"Come on, Anya, cheers! Today, no work or men talk. Just us, letting go of all the bad vibes and relaxing!" Aurora said.
"Cheers." Anna took a sip of the wine. It was rich , smooth and tasty, with a hint of sweetness, not bitter at all.
They chatted and sipped their wine. Before Anna knew it, she had downed two big glasses.
At first, the wine felt like a soft drink. But slowly, something felt off. The wine had a strong aftereffect.
Anna's alcohol tolerance wasn't great, but she usually didn't get drunk after just one glass. Now, after two, she was already feeling a bit fuzzy.
Aurora, who was a regular at the Serenity Lounge and drank their wine often, was totally fine after a few glasses. She was still clear-headed, not even a little tipsy.
Bringing Anna to the Serenity Lounge today was a well-thought-out plan by Aurora. Even though Anna had only been back in the country for a month, a lot had happened. Aurora worried that it was all weighing on Anna, so she figured a little wine might help her open up.
But Aurora didn't expect Charles to come back so soon!
An hour ago, Charles' private jet touched down. As soon as he got off the plane, he planned to head straight back to Regal Retreat. Before hopping into the car, he casually asked Henry, "Is Mrs. Percy at Regal Retreat?"
Henry, seeing a message from his subordinate, broke into a cold sweat. But under Charles' icy stare, he couldn't hide the truth. "Mrs. Percy and Miss Brown went to the Serenity Lounge."
Charles' brows furrowed instantly. "Where?"
Henry, feeling a bit nervous for Anna, repeated, "Serenity Lounge."
"Serenity Lounge?" Charles squinted his eyes. "Very well!"
He had only been on a business trip, and she went to find gigolos.
Charles slammed the backseat door shut, jumped into the driver's seat, floored the gas pedal, and the car shot towards the Serenity Lounge like a rocket.
Left behind, Henry let out a long sigh of relief. His shirt was soaked with cold sweat.
In the Serenity Lounge private room, Anna was drunk but not completely out of it. She swirled a glass of wine in her hand, her eyes wet and dreamy as she watched the liquid move. It was like all the pressure and sadness were slowly dissolving with the wine.
Even drunk, Anna had good manners; she didn't cry or make a fuss, just sat quietly. Aurora sat on another sofa, silently keeping her company. The room was filled with the faint sound of wine moving in the glass.
Suddenly, there was a loud noise at the door, which was forcefully pushed open. Charles' tall figure appeared at the entrance. Seeing him, Aurora felt like she was staring at the Grim Reaper. The wine glass in her hand fell to the ground, and wine splashed everywhere.
Anna frowned at the fallen wine glass and was about to turn to look at the door. Suddenly, a strong hand grabbed her wrist and yanked her up!
Due to the alcohol, Anna's reactions were slow. She looked adorably dazed, like a harmless little bunny. Her big, wet eyes looked at Charles innocently and confusedly, making him feel weak in the knees.
Overwhelmed with anger, Charles dragged her out of the room and pinned her against the hallway wall. Before Anna could react, he grabbed her jaw and kissed her roughly.
Anna tilted her head back, forced to endure Charles' angry kiss. His actions were rough, and Anna felt pain, which briefly cleared her mind. She pushed against his chest, trying to get him off her.
But Charles ignored her resistance. Anna felt like she was suffocating. In her drunken state, her words and thoughts were unfiltered. Under his overbearing pressure, Anna angrily said, "I want a divorce!"
