Chapter 91 Honey, Some People Are Trying to Sabotage Our Relationship

Aurora's call came in at noon.

As soon as Anna picked up, Aurora's voice burst through the line. "Anya, you won't believe what happened at the south warehouse this morning!"

Anna, making tea in the break room, could hear the excitement in Aurora's voice. "You sound thrilled. What happened? Did gold rain from the sky?"

Aurora's keyboard clacking was still audible over the phone. "Even crazier than that! Remember that money-hungry woman I told you about who was all over Mr. Percy?"

Anna paused, mid-tea-making. "You mean Mandy?"

"Yes, her!" Aurora was so excited she didn't even notice Anna's quick guess. "Mandy used to be a big deal in the entertainment world. Not as famous as Tina, but still pretty well-known. And get this, someone found her with eight guys last night!"

Anna frowned. Mandy, who had been so smug yesterday, was caught in such a scandal.

"Is she dead?" Anna asked.

"She's still alive, but barely. They rushed her to the hospital, but she doesn't look good," Aurora said.

Early in the morning, the media had swarmed the warehouse to snap photos and report on the scandal. Aurora didn't go herself, but her colleagues did, and the pictures they brought back were shocking. Aurora doubted Mandy would make it.

After a moment, Aurora sighed. "Even if she dies, it's no big loss. Anya, you don't know the half of it. This woman drinks like a fish and sleeps around, breaking up families left and right. She's a menace."

Meanwhile, Charles was on another business trip, just like before, gone for several days. Every day at noon and in the evening, he'd call Anna, either by video or voicemail. Sometimes, they'd just stay connected in silence. Charles handled the documents at the company, while Anna drove home. Only when she arrived at Regal Retreat would Charles hang up.

On the fourth day, as Charles wrapped up his business at the branch office and prepared to head back to Crystal City, he got an anonymous picture on his phone. Then, two text messages followed.

Unknown: [Mr. Percy, do you really not mind your wife's past with other men?]

Unknown: [She spent eight years with another man, being loved by him. Who knows what they did. Mr. Percy, you are truly magnanimous to not care about her past.]

Charles glanced at the messages and then opened the picture. It was a photo of Anna, sleeping peacefully on a light blue bed, her hair spread out on the pillow. She looked serene and beautiful. His eyes darkened as he stared at the photo. A few seconds later, he exited the message and copied the unknown number to send to Henry.

At that moment, Henry was entering the CEO's office. Seeing the number on his phone, he asked Charles, "Mr. Percy, do you want me to look into this number?"

"Yes," Charles said, putting away his phone, a cold glint in his eyes. "Is the plane ready?"

Henry nodded quickly. "Yes, we can leave anytime."

Charles strode out. "Let's go now."

Charles walked into the Regal Retreat lobby at 8 PM. Anna was about to head upstairs with the cat. Hearing the noise outside, she turned around. The next moment, Charles was striding over. He grabbed the fat cat from her hands and tossed it aside, then pulled the stunned Anna into his arms.

Anna blinked. "Why did you come back so suddenly..."

Before she could finish, Charles was already holding the back of her neck and kissing her hard. She was about to ask what was wrong, but then she saw him leaning against her, looking like a big, abandoned puppy. "Honey, some ill-intentioned people are trying to drive a wedge between us," he said, sounding hurt.

Anna pressed her fingers to her temples. "Who are these ill-intentioned people? How are they trying to drive a wedge between us?"

Charles took out his phone, opened the picture, and handed it to her. "It's anonymous. We don't know who it is yet, but they sent this photo to try to mess with us."
