Thin Line

Kaiden's POV

I watched her walk away from me. I knew that I was being shitty to her.

I knew I was being rude and I knew that it gnawed at my insides for being shitty to her but I couldn't help it.

It wasn't like she had done me any harm or something. I just felt the urge to treat her the way I was treating her.

And I didn't mean that she deserved it, I just couldn't understand what it was I felt for her.

Especially since she came from the pack of that bastard, Alpha Henrik. I wanted to be nice to her.

I wanted to treat her with respect. But each time I thought that she could be the one who Henrik must have sent to our pack to harm us, I would forget about every other thing and speak rudely to her.

And I knew that I had out done myself. But then, there was no way I could help myself.

I wanted to be nicer but I didn't want her to get the wrong ideas. I didn't like her.

I wouldn't say I hated her or anything, but I simply found it suspicious that Alpha Henrik of the blood moon pack would offer one of his subordinates to be mated to me as my soon to be Luna.

And I knew there was no evidential feud between the blood moon pack and the blue moon pack, but still, a guy has got to be careful and a werewolf has got to have his instincts on attention.

After Lilian had gone, I stayed back at the stable, stroking my horse and being deep in thoughts. I wanted to call her back.

I wanted to tell her that I didn't mean any of those words but the sick and messed up part of me restrained me from doing that.

She deserved that, and she deserved more, it had told me. And I was going to believe it.

After all she did deserve it. What was she expecting me to welcome her into my pack with open arms?

Pft!

She was a weak and useless wolf. There was nothing I was going to do with her. She was only going to draw me back.

And I knew presenting her to me was a way of making me appear less strong and powerful.

Henrik probably did it to get at me. To mock me and that seemed to anger me the most.

As a strong prince and soon to be Alpha of the Blue Moon pack, I deserved an equally powerful and mighty luna, not some weak, half baked, mysterious she wolf.

And I seemed to get more riled up when both father and mother approve of her.

Weren't they supposed to take my side in this? Why the heck, then were they being so receptive to her, like she was some sort of their lost daughter or something.

She looked nothing like a member of our family nor our pack and I wasn't going to change that.

If she thought that being in the blue moon pack and getting mated to me would make her a bonafide member and part of our pack, then she definitely had a long way to go.

Because that was never going to happen. I wasn't going to let it. I was going to make sure that she remained what she was.

A weakling and a nobody. She wasn't about to rise in status because she became my mate.

She was going to remain who and what she was. A weak and useless wolf.

With that thought in mind, I approached the Alpha pack house but I got stopped by the pack beta, Ranon . He looked like he was in a hurry to get somewhere.

"What is the matter?" I asked him.
"Prince Kaiden," Beta Ranon said.

"The Alpha has demanded that you be in the pack meeting ground this very instant."

He said to me, I could see that he wasn't kidding and that he was in a hurry to get to where he was going, which apparently was the pack meeting ground.

"Alright." I nodded my head at him and fell into step behind him as I followed him to the place he was going to.

We soon arrived at the pack meeting ground.

I waited for the pack guards to announce my presence to the Alpha and in a few moments, I saw the great doors that led to the alpha pack meeting ground open to let me in.

I walked beside Beta Ranon to the Alpha who sat watching me.

He was seated with a couple of pack leaders of the blue moon pack.

I got to where the alpha sat and bowed my head in obeisance as I stood beside father's beta.

"You asked to see me, father." I said.

"Yes." Father nodded his head. "There seems to be an emergency." Father said.

"An emergency?" I asked as I looked at each of the pack elders. I saw them watching me gravely.

"There has been an infiltration into our pack territories." Beta Ranon said and I turned to look at him.

"Rumors are that a group of vampires have gained entrance into our territories and so far, a number of deaths have been recorded." He said while everyone watched me. I gritted my teeth on hearing that.

"How many deaths?" I asked, wanting to know how grave the situation was.

"We lost count when we got to twenty." He said to me and I clenched my fists.

"The rumors have not been confirmed though." Alpha Authur said and I looked at my father. "This could probably be some members of our enemy pack who are disguising as vampires." Father said.

"What do you want me to do?" I asked him, I was already getting tasty for some fresh enemy blood.

I could feel the blood in my veins boil as I wanted to know why they would kill members of my pack and go scott free.
