Heart Wrenching moment

Kaiden's POV


The next day I was meant to address the pack members.
We were planning on going for a hunt.

"Fellow pack members," I said addressing the pack. "It was with a heavy heart and one full of regrets that I announced, a few days back, to you of the passing of the alpha and the Luna. " I told the pack members as I looked about me and then I heard the murmurs they made in the background.


They were all watching me with sorrowful eyes. The strong urge to break down again right in front of everyone in the pack felt so overwhelming but I tried my hardest to hold it in.


To not appear so weak even though that was all I wanted at the moment.


The entire pack members had all probably gotten used to the news.


"My parents killed alongside a lot of great pack members whose labors would not be in vain. " I said. "A great number of people who have labored so far and whose labors will not be in vain. " I went on.


"And so dear pack members," I said. "as the new head of the Blue Moon pack I declare that we will not stand back and watch the perpetrators of this crime go unpunished.



We will avenge the deaths of our beloved brothers and Alpha and Luna. We will avenge the deaths of the innocent souls departed and we will avenge the deaths of our loved ones who were unjustly killed by the enemy. " I said, vowing out loud and I heard the nods and accolades of the pack members while I Looked around me at the hopeful faces.



"I promise this. " I said to them. "I vow this. " I told them.


I turned to look around me and I saw Lilian watching me.

The eyes she shot my way was enough to make me go over to her and hold her in my arms while I cried into her arms and she rubbed at my back.


But I held myself and focused on addressing the pack members.


"On this note, I announce that we will all be on guard henceforth.

Someone within us probably works with the enemy. An enemy whom we are yet to uncover." I said to the pack.

After I was done with addressing the pack members, I walked into the Alpha's chambers and the absence of father in his usual habitat became so overwhelming that, not able to hold it in anymore, my knees gave way and I found myself on the ground weeping profusely.


In here, there was no one else in sight to watch me cry. So I held myself weeping profusely in the room while I shook so violently.



I was full of regrets and anger.
Regrets that I should have known, and anger that I was not able to do anything about the situation when it could have been averted.


And now my father is no more. The alpha Authur and Luna Caroline had both been brutally killed and left to run cold in the pool of their own blood.


I was beyond devastated. My heart ached so much that I felt like sinking my claws into my chest and wrenching my heart out of its socket because the pain was too unbearable. I was so heart broken and in regret.



"Father," I cried. "What do I do now?" I wondered.


"It hurts so much. " I said to myself as I held my chest and squeezed at the fabric of my clothing.


I thought about the signs. Surely their target had been the Alpha right from the onset.


I clenched my fists against my palms as I felt the pain stinging into my flesh. I could instantly perceive the metallic scent of my blood that got drawn as a result of the tightness of my fist but I wasn't bothered by the blood that was now coming out of my palms which had been cut by the tight clench I had held my fists in.



"Whoever it is that did this, whoever it is that perpetrated this evil will pay. " I vowed, my eyes turned red with anger as I made this statement. "They are going to pay, all of them." I said still soliloquizing.




"I will ensure that each and everyone of them who had a hand in my parents' death will face the consequences of their actions, I said to myself as I felt the blood fall from my hands”.


With that vow in mind, I wiped my tears and got up on my feet, I walked into the Alpha's personal chambers and I washed my face.


This was bound to be my room now. It was bound to be my own chamber and I was going to make good use of it, my position as the new Alpha of the Blue Moon pack.



I was done washing off my face when I heard a sound at the door and I turned to see Lilian walking into the place.



"Lilian?" I asked, staring at her in surprise. "What are you doing here?" I asked her.


"I brought you some ramen and tea. " She said to me and that was when I saw the tray that contained a large bowl and a smaller bowl in her arms.


"You shouldn't have..." I trailed in exasperation.


"I should have." She insisted. "We're all going through some difficulties. The best we could do is look out for each other" she said blinking to hold back her tears.


I moved closer to her and held the tray alongside her hand as I bent so I could see her face clearly.


"Thank you" I said, taking the tray after regarding her for a while. I put the tray aside as I brushed my hair to lie neatly.


" You should eat too" I said as I held her hand and helped her to sit. "You look like you've been starving". I said, helping her to sit beside me. Hopefully she had not heard me crying.
