Dragon's Claw Territory
Kaiden's POV
The clashing of weapons and the snarling of combat filled the air as beta Ranon and I fought our way, tooth and nails through the horde of vampires.
They were just everywhere and their pale faces and blood shot eyes were twisted in grotesque sneers as they fought us.
I could see that they were enjoying the fight and the trouble that they had stirred.
They were having a field's day and the fight that was going on.
The strong and metallic stench of blood and death was all over the air, I was almost nauseous, but I fought on.
These bastards had to pay, one way or the other. My mind at the moment was only focused on one thing and that was to protect the integrity and the members of the Blue Moon pack.
And I was going to make sure that things happened that way.
"Stay close!" I shouted to Beta Ranon as we fought along, I wielded my sword as I slashed through the heart of a vampire that lunged at me.
And the moment he was cut in half, his body fell onto the floor and caught fire instantly.
"I'm right here!" he growled back, his blade immediately connected with and found its mark in another attacker's head and he slid it open.
It was just the both of us and yet we fearlessly fought side by side with each other.
We tried our hardest in order for our movements to be synchronized in a bid to mount our guards against our enemies.
And of course, this was achieved from our years of training together.
Despite the outrageous numbers of the vampires. It was so obvious that we were outnumbered.
But that didn't make me lose hope. Despite that, we held our ground firmly and confidently, each swing of our weapons took down another enemy.
It was so simple to kill them off, or we were just too good and capable of the task. But the vampires kept coming.
One turned to ten and ten turned to thousands and thousands to tens of thousands.
We managed to keep up.
I could hear the vampires as they sneered at us, laughing at us. At the fact that we looked outnumbered.
"Look at them," one of the vampires sneered and I saw that his fangs were glinting as he laughed, mocking at us.
"Outnumbered and still they fight. Foolish werewolves." He sneered at us and I gritted my teeth at that, I totally refused to let or allow his words shake me.
"We'll see who the fools are," I muttered under my breath.
As we pushed forward, the vampires began to retreat, leading us toward a dark cavern, which up until the moment I had neither noticed nor had been aware of until that moment.
The entrance to the cavern was hidden among the dense trees, but the stench of death made it impossible to miss.
I instinctively shut my eyes as I gnawed at them.
"This must be their lair," father's beta said.
I turned to see that he had his eyes narrowed to slits as he surveyed the area.
He was searching for ways of recognizing the place and he probably was right.
This was a lair of some sort and the vampires had taken the place and were probably planning on making it a part of their territory.
That was probably why they killed off all of the pack warriors we had stationed there.
"Looks like it," I replied. "And we're going in." I told him as we continued to walk in.
The vampires were probably waiting for us at the other side of the cavern.
We were gonna be prepared to face them at any time.
He nodded his head once and we moved cautiously, our werewolf senses were on high alert as we entered the vampires' domain.
The cavern looked vast and there wasn't enough light and so it was dark, the walls were slick with cold and moisture and the floor seemed uneven beneath our feet.
The air was thick with the scent of decay. It was a musky scent that I wanted so badly to shake off.
Suddenly and without prior notice we were instantly surrounded by a swarm of vampires who had their eyes glowing with malevolent glee.
"You were foolish to follow us here," one of them hissed at us, smiling and menacingly showing his fangs.
I could see that he was hungry. His eyes showed it. He was hungry for blood.
Werewolf blood.. "Now you're trapped." He said to us and I chuckled.
"Well," I said comically. "Haven't you really had enough? I mean you've killed almost thirty of my pack members and yet you would want to kill more of us?" I asked as I scoffed.
"Yes." He sneered as he glared at me.
"Matter of fact, I want to know what your blood tastes like. I would not bother about doing you the honor of turning you into one of us, I would let you die right on the spot." He challenged and again I chuckled.
"Who said anything about wanting to look like you?" I asked them. "I mean, look at your eyes. Those hungry blood shot eyes are not for me." I told him and he growled angrily at me.
"You are so foolish." He said to us as he looked from me to Beta Ranon.
"Foolish or not, we're here," I said in a collected voice. "And we're not leaving until we've destroyed every last one of you." I told them. That was a promise by the way.
The vampires laughed at that. Their laughter sent chills down my spine.
They were so tacky. Their voices were too mirthed with all that having to drink blood for survival they now possessed somewhat metallic voices, it was such a chilling sound and I could hear echoes of their laughter from a distance.
"You're outnumbered," another sneered. "You don't stand a chance." He said to us.
I exchanged a glance with the beta, and we nodded in silent agreement.
It was time to shift. The vampires didn't expect us to fight, let alone transform and they were gonna get the shockers of their lives.
With a guttural growl, I let the transformation take over, my body contorted and stretched as I shifted painfully into my wolf form.
Beside me, Beta Ranon did the same, I could see his fur bristled and his eyes glowed so fiercely.
The vampires' laughter all instantly died in their throats as they realized what was happening.
"They're shifting!" one of them shouted in alarm.
"Attack!" I commanded in a voice that came off as a deep and guttural growl.
We instantly launched ourselves at the vampires.
The element of surprise was on our side, and we used it to our advantage as we fought tooth and nail through the enemy ranks with savage efficiency.
The cavern was filled with the sounds of battle, the snarls and roars of werewolves mingling with the screams of dying vampires.
I lunged at one of the leaders and my jaws closed around his throat with a satisfying crunch.
He struggled briefly before going limp. I growled loudly in satisfaction as I allowed his lifeless body to drop to the ground with a thud.
I didn't stop to savor the victory and I immediately moved to the next target.
Beside me, the beta fought so aggressively. I could see his claws rending and tearing through the vampires with brutal precision.
"They thought they could outnumber us," he growled as his lips pulled into a loopy smile of satisfaction.” But they underestimated our strength." He said laughing.
"Damn right," I agreed after my teeth had just sunk deep into another vampire's flesh. "Let's show them what real power looks like." I said.
