A Grand Entrance
Lilian's POV
It was finally time for me to head back to the feast. It was expedient that I did so as the Luna of the pack, dramatic eye roll. I sighed and got up from where I was seated.
Yuria turned to look at me.
"Time to go?" She asked me. She already knew. I nodded my head at her and she let out a smile.
"I was thinking the same thing." She smiled. "I really hoped that you enjoyed yourself here." She said. It was more like a question since she was expecting an answer from me.
"Yeah," I responded. "I sure did." I said. And that was the truth. I did enjoy myself.
Because for once, I was able to dwell in solitude without fear of having to run into Kaiden or the likes of it.
"I better head back," I said. "God knows Kaiden and the pack elders would probably be searching for me." I said in a light tone and she chuckled.
"I can only imagine." She said smiling. "Good thing you didn't run off to meet some guy or something...." She trailed and I knew she was just joking so I smiled at that.
We soon said our goodbyes and I turned and headed back to the Alpha's pack house where the feast was going on. I got into the building and could hear the sounds of cheers and laughter coming from inside the pack meeting ground.
No doubt they weren't even bothered that I had been absent the whole while. I pushed open the door to sneak a peek at what was happening and my eyes met Kaiden's, he sat quietly on his seat as he drank from a goblet.
I watched the way he looked calm and collected and my fists involuntarily clenched into balls.
How could he be so unbothered that I was away? Was that how much he resented me? He didn't even care to know why I wasn't at the feast.
Some mate he was! I fumed.
I was beginning to decide on just snubbing the whole feast and heading right back to my chambers and retiring for the night.
That would be a better option anyway. I really would not want to have to get into the pack meeting ground and everyone would have to glare at me accusingly because I was being late. Would I?
"Luna Lilian?" I heard someone call my name from behind me and I turned back to look at who it was. It was Kaiden's beta, Jack.
"Jack?" I called and he stepped closer to me.
"My apologies Luna, if I have startled you...." He trailed.
"Oh, no," I said, shaking my head.
I mean I was startled but I wasn't about to admit that. Not to anyone and especially not to Jack.
"I was just....." I trailed and he nodded his head without even letting me finish.
"We looked for you when the feast was about to begin," he said and I looked at him. "The Alpha is not so happy that you are not present." He noted.
Is he? I wondered.
He looked calm, content and happy to me.
"Really?" I asked. Or is Jack only trying to make me feel better? Because I just saw Kaiden and he looked perfectly fine to me.
He was drinking away at the feast, unless I wasn't seeing right. "He looks pretty okay to me." I said and Jack chuckled.
"Well, he is the alpha." He said. "You do not expect him to appear flustered in the presence of his pack members do you?" He asked me.
That was a good point and I nodded my head.
"I uhh, guess he would not like to see me now again huh?" I asked. "Since I had been absent already." I said. Jack raised a brow at my words. He was probably wondering why I was being this way.
He didn't know that Kaiden detested me and the mere thought of touching me repulsed him.
"Did you get in a fight? The both of you." He asked and I looked away immediately and cleared my throat.
"Who said we did?" I asked him. "Just, forget everything I said." I told him and he was silent.
After a beat, I spoke up.
"I'm going to freshen up and join the feast, it's going to last until past midnight so I guess I still have time to make an appearance." I said and walked away from him without waiting for a response.
I knew that he would be watching me. I could feel his eyes on the back of my head. And I knew that he would surely report to Kaiden, all that we had just spoken about, not like we spoke about much anyway.
I got to my bed chambers and shut my door behind me and breathed out.
That was a close one. I let out another sigh as I walked to the bath to clean up myself and change my dress to a more formal one. One that befitted the occasion and my societal status.
Moments later and I was done already.
I was putting on a blue, lengthy, plain dress that had very short shoulder sleeves. The dress was gathered at the chest where my breasts were cupped and then let go right from underneath my breasts to my toes.
I gathered up my hair and pinned them elegantly and beautifully on the top of my head, allowing the tendrils and stray strands to fall loosely on my shoulders and my back.
I had opted to apply light make-up, maybe a red lipstick and darker eyeshadows but it was already night and the makeup would soon be wiped off when I would want to sleep and so I left the makeup.
I made sure to apply the soft fragranced lavender oils mixed with the rosy perfume leaves. Its fragrances were enough to make my entrance more grand?
As soon as I opened the great doors and stepped in, every single eye in the room was placed on me. It looked like they had all been expecting me. Like my presence was the climax of their evenings.
I walked straight to where Kaiden was seated and glanced at him to see that his face was contorted in what seemed to be a frown. He was probably getting riled up. But I couldn't even care less.
