De ja vu?
Lilian's POV
Beautiful rays of the morning light filtered into my bed chambers through the curtains. It gave a warm golden color to my whole room.
I stretched like a cat on my bed, it was way past day break. I had awoken late.
It was probably because of the dream I had the previous night. The handsome stranger from the woods... it felt so vivid, so real. But it was just a dream.
And what was all these about me being strong and capable of going hunting? I was only still an omega.
Well one who was fortunate enough to be mated to an Alpha.
I shook my head, as I tried to dispel the thought. Today, I had other things to focus on.
I needed to get out of the Alpha pack house for a while, clear my mind. Yuria had mentioned meeting up, and I was eager to see her again. I giggled at the thought that Kaiden thought Yuria was some guy that I was meeting.
How silly of him, I thought. I quickly dressed and headed out, the cool morning air felt really refreshing against my skin.
As I made my way down the stone pathway that led away from the pack house, I looked back. Kaiden had been particularly intense last night, wanting to know who I had been hanging out with. His questions, his anger—everything about him felt like a storm brewing. But I wasn't going to let that cloud my day.
He was, after all, the first person to start it. He first ignored me and avoided me. Now it was somewhat pay back.
I approached the spot where Yuria and I usually met. It was a separate little area near the edge of the woods, where the trees formed a natural canopy and created a serene, dared I say, magical atmosphere?
I drew closer and I spotted her— but she wasn’t alone.
Yuria was standing with a man, he was tall and strikingly handsome. His features were sharp and manly, yet there was some sort of warmth in his eyes that contrasted with the coolness of his demeanor. I watched as they both talked, Yuria laughed out in a carefree manner, but that wasn't the best part.
The best part was that my heart nearly stopped when I saw his face. I immediately froze on my spot.
It can't be!
He looked exactly like the man from my dream last night.
I froze for a moment and my mind raced multiple beats at once.
Crap!
What was this? Was I still dreaming? I took a deep breath in an attempt to steady myself. This couldn’t be a coincidence, could it? I wondered. But before I could gather my thoughts, Yuria spotted me and waved me over, she was smiling too brightly.
“Lilian! You’re here!” she called out, her eyes sparkled with excitement as she did.
I forced a smile as I tried to push down the sudden wave of anxiety that threatened to overtake me. As I approached, the man turned to face me fully, and I felt a strange sort of familiarity wash over me. It was as if I had known him for years, yet I was certain we had never met before. Was it because I had seen him in my dream the previous night?
What was this?
“Lilian, this is Jael,” Yuria introduced, but before she could say anything further, Jael extended his hand towards me with a charming smile on his lips. The same from my dream.
“Jael,” he said, his voice was smooth and somewhat calming, as if he could perceive the barricade of questions I had in my mind. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” he said to me. He was still smiling. Now it was getting creepy.
I hesitated for a moment, I was still trying to process the surreal situation, but then I took his hand. His grip was firm, yet gentle, and there was something about his touch that felt... warm.
“Lilian,” I replied in almost a whisper.
He smiled, and for a moment, I was lost in those caramel-brown eyes, the same ones that had watched me in my dream. How was this possible? Was it some kind of vision? Or was my mind playing tricks on me? This had got to be a clear case of deja vu right?
“Yuria has told me a lot about you,” Jael said, his eyes on me. “I feel like I know you already." He said.
I forced a laugh in an attempt to hide my discomfort.
“Well, I hope she’s been saying good things.” I joked.
“Only the best,” he replied with a wink, and I let out a smile at that. There was something undeniably charming about him, something that made it hard to remain on edge, despite how odd the situation was.
“So, how do you two know each other?” I asked and turned to Yuria. I was trying to steer the conversation to something less unsettling. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to ask him who he was and how come he was here? I wanted to ask him why he was in my dreams just the previous night.
I wanted to know what he was doing with Yuria and I wanted to ask him who he was apart from his name. So many questions but that was the only one I could ask. On track but more less unsettling.
Yuria grinned.
“Jael and I go way back. He’s been away for a while, but we ran into each other last night. Can you believe it?” she asked me.
“Last night?” I echoed, my mind flashed back to the dream.
It couldn’t be just a coincidence, could it? I squinted my eyes in thoughts.
“Yeah,” Jael chimed in. “I was just passing through, and fate decided to be kind. I’m glad it did.” he added.
“Fate...” I repeated softly, the word hung in the air. I was beginning to feel like I was in some kind of story where fate was a real, touchable force that pulled strings behind the scenes. But this wasn’t just any story—this was my life, this was reality.
Nothing out of the ordinary was supposed to happen. This was mere coincidence right?
Jael noticed my contemplative expression and tilted his head slightly.
"Are you alright?" He asked me and I looked at him startled.
"What?" I asked in a strange voice. He continued to watch me. With those caramel brown eyes. Like he was seeing deep into my soul. Just like he had in the dream.
