Uncanny Introductions

Lilian's POV

I watched them go. Kaiden and that woman. From what I could deduce, she was close with him. I could see that from the way they talked to each other. From the way he spoke to her and the way they both laughed with each other I could even say that he liked her even more than he did me.

It wasn't like he liked me anyway. I scoffed as I turned in the opposite direction and headed to my bed chambers. I didn't like him either.

I walked into my room and saw that Sylvia was dressing my bed. I sighed as I plopped onto the couch and waited for her. She turned to me and smiled politely.
"My lady," she said to me and I turned to look at her. "Is there anything you may be needing?" She asked me.

"No." I said. "Thank you. That will be all." I told her. But she still stood there.
"I-Is there..... will you like to have dinner in your chambers?" She asked me. I stared at her for a beat before I nodded my head.
"Of course. " I told her. "That will be fine." I tried to let out a small smile. She nodded and turned to leave the room. As soon as she left the room I let out a sigh and walked towards the bed which Sylvia had dressed.

I climbed up the bed and let out another long sigh as I inhaled.
There has got to be something between those two. I could see it. I could sense it. Weirdly, it wasn't supposed to bother me, But the manner in which that woman had sneered at me and looked at me so condescendingly. It riled me up. It made me want to make her jealous and it sure as hell made me jealous whenever she spoke so casually to Kaiden. That was not because I was jealous of something or whatever it was how they talked and shared things together, but because I longed for someone to be that casual with.

No doubt, the Alpha and the Luna of the Blue Moon pack had grown accustomed to me. Or should I say, they had grown quite fond of me. But still, I needed Kaiden to approve of me. At least so that Henrik's plans would work.
I sighed again.

Oh Henrik.
I missed him. At the very least, I missed hearing his voice, I missed talking to him. I missed his touch and I missed seeing that pretty face of his. And I kind of had the feeling that he may not be missing me but I simply couldn't help it. I didn't want to. I wanted to believe that he was for me.

Since obviously Kaiden over here was refusing to be with me.
My thoughts were immediately interrupted by the sound of a knock on the door. I sat up from my bed. That should probably be Sylvia and so I waited for her to open the door and step in. But she didn't. The knock came again and I decided to invite whoever it was that was at the door.
"Come in. " I said and the door opened slightly to reveal the face of the pack maid who peeked in politely.

"My lady," she said in a feeble voice. I wondered why the omega was here.

"Dinner is served." She informed me.
"Oh that," I said. "Sylvia will have mine brought to my bed chambers." I told her.

"The Alpha has instructed that everyone has dinner with him at the general dinner hall.” She said and I almost swore at that.
I bet that woman would be there. I thought as I silently bit on my tongue.
"Very well then." I said smiling even though it didn't reach my eyes. "I will be down in a few." I said and she nodded her head.
"Noted my lady." She said and retrieved her head from the room before shutting the door after her. I stared at the door for a beat.

Shit.

I didn't want to go. I didn't want to have to go watch them eat or talk or even talk to me. Now I had no choice since obviously it was the Alpha's orders. I sighed as I got up and changed my outfit.

.....
Moments later, I stepped into the dinner hall. Everyone else was seated except for Kaiden. I saw that I was right, that woman was still here. She was smiling sweetly at Luna Caroline. I saw that the alpha was speaking briefly with his beta in hushed tones.

I nodded my head politely in greeting as I took a seat that was directly opposite from the one Isabel was occupying.

"Lilian?" Luna Caroline called as she smiled kindly at me.

"Yes, your majesty?" I responded as I let out a smile on my own.

"Have you met with Isabel?" She asked and I glanced at Isabel who was staring at me and smiling as if she wasn't rude to me earlier.
"Uh, well, ye-" I was going to tell that we had met but Isabel seemed to beat me to it as she interrupted me.

"Ah-ah!" She said as if she was going to choke. "Oh yeah, Kaiden told me about her. She's the new mate he was talking about?" She asked Luna as she took her eyes away from me and turned to the Luna who smiled.

"Yes she is. Isn't she pretty?" The Luna asked and then she smiled at me. "Lilian, this is Isabel, she is Kaiden's childhood best friend." She introduced me and I looked at Isabel who was smiling at me. I bet it was a fake smile.

"It's nice to meet you Lilian." Isabel said so sweetly and I watched her wordlessly. I was so bad at pretending and so I didn't want to have to say anything to give away the fact that I didn't like her even though she was pretending and I could see it in her eyes that she equally detested me.
"Well," Luna Caroline said, I was sure she was feeling the tensed energy between us. "Why don't we-"

"Sorry I'm late." I heard Kaiden say and I turned to look at him. He didn't even glance at me.

"Kaiden?" Isabel said and I looked at her. "I saved a seat for you, here." She said as she tapped on the seat beside herself.

Kaiden took the seat without another word and I watched on.
This was going to be a long dinner, I could see.
