Dreams and visions
Lilian's POV
I saw the way he was watching me and it gave me the creeps. What was he up to? I wondered as I looked at him.
His eyes were still on my night dress. I used my hand to further cover my chest and shield myself from him.
"Tell me who it was?" He demanded further and then he took instinctive steps towards me. That made me gulp. I took a step back from him and regaining my composure, I crossed my hand over my chest in defiance.
"And what if I don't want to?" I asked him. I saw the way he gritted his teeth. Just like he had done earlier at the feast. I could see that he was still riled up.
"Lilian goddamnit!" He swore and looked away from me. I watched him. I could see that his eyes looked strained. He looked like he was going to explode at any moment. I almost faltered. I almost pitied him.
But then I remembered that he actually deserved everything that I was doing to him.
I turned and made to walk away from him but then he grabbed me by my arm and yanked me back to stand with him.
"You don't act so nonchalantly when I'm talking to you!" He scolded me.
I yanked my hand away from him and looked away.
"I need you to come and leave now." I said to him. I was serious now.
Kaiden stared at me for a few beats before he turned and left. I let out a sigh and went to my bed.
...............
I spotted the deer, oblivious of my cunning approach, feeding very comfortably at the grasses. It was very far from its home and family. Unknown to me, it was gonna be my special dinner tonight. I quietly advanced towards it, careful to not let my feet scrunch against any dead twigs to avert its attention from its merry lunch to my approach. Claws drawn and teeth bare, I was half transformed as I stepped quietly towards my prey. Somehow I wasn't the weak and powerless omega.
But I was something stronger. Someone more powerful.
Steady.
Quietly.
Almost there. I steeled myself.
Suddenly the rustling of bushes and the instant flight of a school of woodpeckers from a huge tree trunk diverted my attention as they made scurrying noises away from the tree, unintentionally, I stepped on a dry twig and it broke with a somewhat loud crack.
Crap!
I looked up at my prey to see that it was now staring directly at me. I was busted so I decided to go along with plan B. My sweet and assumedly spicy delicious dinner knew what was on my mind as it leaped away without warning. Baring my teeth angrily, I chased after it with all my strength.
Double crap!
There goes my dinner! I chased after the deer but my dinner was too fast for this werewolf and I stopped to catch my breath, panting breathlessly.
No kidding, I was going to have to give up and hunt smaller animals for dinner then. Maybe a rabbit. I hated rabbits, they were too tiny and their bones too hard to crack. But they were easier to hunt down.
"You're gonna need more than that to catch a deer." A male voice said from among the woods and I was startled.
Who was there?
"Show yourself this instant!" I commanded, still panting and looking around to catch sight of any movement. My heightened werewolf instincts on high alert as I tried to decipher where exactly I heard the voice come from.
A male figure appeared from behind an oak tree.
"Take it easy, I mean no harm." He said approaching me.
This had to be the finest male I had seen, he had this alluring look accompanied by a plausible physique. His lush curly brown hair and very caramel brown eyes gave him an outstanding look. He was a handsome one, I get it but this was the middle of nowhere and nowhere in hell was I losing my guard to a stranger.
Handsome strangers are the worst, they could get away with any crime.
"Who are you?" I asked defiantly. He stood and watched me with a smile on his lips.
"Unlike you, I know who you are." He said, the smile still playing on his lips. "Aren't you Luna Lilian of the Blue Moon pack?"
He asked with a somewhat mock voice. The sinister smirk was still there.
I squinted my eyes. Who was this person? He sure knew who I was. I maintained my stance.
"That hasn't answered my question." I said, drawing my claws. Even my enemies of the blue moon pack must have known who I was. I wasn't going to let my guard down simply because this handsome stranger knew my name.
"You know, it is rude to ask that to people." He said, tutting his teeth.
"Oh please, you were the one that came at me out of nowhere." I said with an eye roll and he raised his hands in defense.
"No, I didn't come at you, I was passing by and saw your sorry attempt at hunting and decided to give you a few unsolicited tips."
Wait, was he the one who?
"Did you -?"
"No! That wasn't me." He denied abruptly.
"You should be more discreet by the way, the deer already heard you before the birds flew away." He went on to say, had he been watching me the whole time?
"How dare you interrupt my hunt?!" I asked, feigning anger. I even tried to look the part.
"I was merely offering assistance, Luna Lilian," he replied, saying my name. His tone was laced with amusement. "Your approach could use some refinement." He said.
Refusing to acknowledge the potential truth in his words, I scowled, retracting my claws.
"I didn't ask for your help." I said.
I wanted to say his name out loud after my last sentence, but I didn't know his name. And I wasn't going to ask.
He chuckled, seemingly unfazed by my hostility.
"True, but sometimes we all need a bit of help, especially when hunting deer."
Crossing my arms, I shot him a skeptical look.
"And why would you, a stranger in the woods, want to help me?" I asked him.
He sighed, his caramel-brown eyes and studied me.
"Let's just say I have a soft spot for reckless werewolves attempting to catch dinner." He said.
I scoffed. "Soft spot or not, I don't need your assistance." I said. And I was about to say something else. Probably ask him what his name was when suddenly it all felt so unreal and I found myself stirring from my sleep.
Apparently I was having a strange dream. I sat up as I tried to think of what to make of the dream. It was weird I got to say. And who was this stranger? And why was I dreaming about him? I kept wondering.
