Lucy

As the evening sun began its descent below the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow over the city, I waited nervously in the lobby of Stacy's building. My heart raced with anticipation, each passing moment feeling like an eternity. Most of my floor was still hanging around in the lobby, pretending like they weren't here to see me off. I had never experienced anything like this before – a private dance lesson with David at the Blood Moon Estate. It was a dream come true, and yet it filled me with a mixture of excitement and anxiety.
Just as I was beginning to think I might faint from the anticipation, a sleek black car pulled up to the curb. The door swung open, and there he was, David, in another three-piece suit, beaming at me. His eyes lit up with a warm smile as he stepped out of the car and entered the building to reach me.
"Lucy," he greeted me with a gentle nod, his voice carrying that soothing cadence that always managed to calm my racing heart. "You look lovely."
I felt my cheeks flush. "They're just jeans."
He smiled and tucked a curl behind my ear. "I like the headband. Shall we?"
I nodded, my stomach twisting into knots as his eyes lingered on me.
David extended his hand, and I took it, feeling a gentle thrill course through me at his touch. He tucked me into the passenger seat before driving away to the Blood Moon Estate.
The drive was filled with light conversation about our days. It took everything in me not to want to take his hand every time he shifted gears.
Finally, the gates of the Estate came into view. As we passed through them, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nerves wash over me. He parked around the side of the Estate and led me through a hidden entrance that seemed to materialize out of thin air.
He grinned. "Call it the scenic route."
He offered me his hand, and I took it, falling into step with him as we entered the passage. It was like stepping into another dimension. The hallway was adorned with delicate fairy lights, their soft glow guiding our way. Each step felt like a journey into an enchanting realm, a place of magic and secrets.
As we walked, David explained the significance of the ballroom we were heading to. It was a place steeped in tradition, a sanctuary of music and dance. He spoke of the Wolf Waltz, the very dance that would open the Crescent Moon Festival, a symbol of unity and celebration for the Blood Moon Pack.
"The Blood Moon Alpha always dances the first waltz," he revealed, his eyes filled with a mixture of pride and reverence. "Usually, I just choose a partner for it upon arrival, but I'm hoping I won't ever have to do that again."
The weight of his words settled over me like a warm embrace.
Finally, we arrived at the ballroom, and I stood at the threshold, my breath catching in my throat. It was so beautiful. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries depicting scenes of wolves in various stages of the moon. The ceiling seemed to stretch into eternity, adorned with more fairy lights that cast a gentle, ethereal glow. The dance floor itself was a masterpiece of pictures beneath the polished surface.
David's hand on my waist brought me back to reality, and I turned to face him, my heart pounding in my chest. He gazed at me with a soft smile, his eyes reflecting the same awe and wonder that I felt.
"Lucy," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "there's no need to be nervous, I promise. We'll go slow."
I nodded, my throat tight with emotion, unable to find words to express the depth of my gratitude and the trust that had been placed in me.
The soft strains of music began to fill the room, and as David took my hand, leading me to the center of the dance floor, all my fears and anxieties melted away.
The instructor arrived with an air of excitement, her eyes lighting up as she took in the sight of David and me.
"Ah, David, my dear, I see you've brought a proper partner this year!" She clapped her hands together in delight, and I couldn't help but smile at her infectious enthusiasm.
David chuckled, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Yeah, I suppose all your dreams will come true. This is Lucy, and she's more than up for the challenge."
Anna's eyes twinkled as she turned her attention to me. "Lucy, my dear, you're in for a treat. David has always been a star pupil, and I've been waiting for the day when I could pair him with someone who truly appreciates his talent."
I laughed. "I promise not to step on his toes too many times."
He leaned close. "Step on them as much as you'd like."
"No flirting! It's time to dance. You must learn to multi-task, dear David. Nothing more attractive than a versatile man."
I flushed and laughed. With a gracious nod, Anna began to regale us with stories of David's first dance lessons, tales that seemed to effortlessly pull David back to his earlier years. It was heartwarming to see him blush when she talked about the first time David tumbled them both to the ground and sprained her ankle.
Once I stopped laughing, Anna got down to business. "Shall we begin with a slow waltz, just to get those basic steps of the Wolf Waltz ingrained in our muscle memory?"
David offered me his hand, and I took it, feeling a sense of anticipation building within me. The music started with a melodious tune that seemed to resonate with the very essence of romance. With a confident yet gentle touch, David led me onto the polished wooden floor, and we began our dance.
The first few steps were a bit wobbly as we adjusted to each other's stride, but David's guidance was steady and reassuring. His hand on my waist and the feel of his fingers entwined with mine were electric, sending shivers down my spine.
As we glided across the floor, I couldn't help but lose myself in the music and the enchantment of the moment. The world outside seemed to fade into the background, leaving just the two of us. The fairy lights above us cast a warm, ethereal glow, bathing us in a soft radiance.
David's eyes held mine, and in that intimate gaze, I found myself breathless.
With each step, it grew easier and more comfortable. I stepped on his toes less. The romantic atmosphere enveloped us, making it impossible not to get lost in the magic of the moment. And with each graceful movement, I felt myself inching closer to David.
"Very good!" She cried. "I'll expect you two to practice more. It won't do for you to trip at your debut, hm?"
I nodded. "Thank you."
After practice, David took me to his private kitchen, and we cooked together again. It felt a bit like dancing. Sometimes, he'd catch my hand and pull me into a few gliding steps while we got ingredients.
I couldn't help but smile as we worked.
Our conversation flowed effortlessly as we prepared the meal. David shared stories of past Crescent Moon Festivals, describing the grand feasts and elaborate celebrations that took place across the supernatural world.
Once the meal was ready, we set the table together, arranging the dishes with care. The flickering candles cast a warm, intimate glow, turning our dinner even more romantic.
"I can't believe I helped make this too," I said, tasting a bit of steak. "It's so tender and good..."
He chuckled. "I've never had a better kitchen helper."
He slipped his hand over mine, and I didn't pull away, twining our fingers together as a shy, nervous flutter went through me.
After we had cleared the table and washed the dishes, it was time for David to take me home. We stepped out into the crisp night air, the moon hanging low in the sky, casting its silvery light upon us as he walked me to my car.
The drive back to Stacy's building was a quiet one, but it was a comfortable silence. David pulled up to the entrance of the building and walked me to the sliding doors again. He turned to me, his eyes locking onto mine. There was a tender intensity in his gaze, a silent acknowledgment of the emotions that had been blossoming between us.
Would he kiss me this time?
"Thank you for another wonderful evening, Lucy," he said softly, his voice a gentle caress.
I bit my lip as he leaned close and pressed another kiss to my forehead.
"Until next time."
"Y-Yeah..."
He smiled and kissed my hand before walking back to his car, never taking his eyes off me.
"Go inside before someone comes to get you."
I blinked and turned back. I stepped closer and saw them pretending to be busy or slinking off. I flushed as he laughed behind me. I walked in.
"A shy one, hm?"
"You guys have to stop!"
"Are we cockblocking you?" A dramatic gasp filled the air. "We're so sorry!"
I covered my face and hurried to the elevator, hearing David's laughter all the way.
