31. You’ll be okay
Lucy
Where was I?
Somehow, I wasn’t dead.
Everything was hot and cold. I felt terrible. When I opened my eyes, sunlight stung my eyes coming through the trees. I smelled wet earth and fresh water. There was this other scent too, like compost in my nose. I didn’t recognize where I was. Why was I outside?
I tried to sit up. It was so hard. Everything hurt and my stomach kept turning like I wanted to throw up.
Was I going to throw up?
My stomach heaved and bile burned my mouth, but nothing else. I couldn’t remember the last time I had eaten.
I frowned, no. I remembered. Someone had brought me food, but after that, I couldn’t remember anything.
I heard something move nearby and froze. Slowly, I turned and the bright red eyes of a dark furred wolf were staring at me. I screamed.
I tried to get to away from the wolf, but the wolf didn’t try to approach me. It sat at the edge of the clearing as I dragged myself away from it. There was something in its eyes that was making my heart race. I hadn’t gotten more than a few feet before I felt someone’s hand on me. Someone turned me around. My vision swam and I saw Tony.
“Tony? I don’t feel so good.
“You’ll be okay,” Tony said, carrying me. He turned and headed back the way he came. The dark-furred wolf and several others followed.
I felt like I was going to throw up as Tony carried me through the woods toward a bunch of bright lights. People were everywhere, rushing back the way we’d come from, but Tony didn’t stop. He climbed into an SUV with me and kept me in his lap. As soon as the door closed, he kissed me.
My stomach lurched, but I didn’t try to push him away. The driver’s door opened and someone climbed in. The car cranked up as Tony kept kissing me, wrapping his arms around me.
Then, the phone started to ring. Tony growled and answered.
“I told you I have her, and we’re headed back. Why aren’t you resting?” Tony said into the phone. His eyes flashed red then he huffed and pressed the phone to my ear.
“Lucy?” Matt asked through the phone. “Are you alright?”
“Matt?” I asked, trying to catch my breath.
He let out a shuddering sigh. “By the Moon… don’t… just let Tony take care of you, okay? You’ll be home soon.”
I blinked. “Okay.”
Tony took the phone back. “Go to sleep, Matt. We’re over an hour out.”
He hung up and set the phone aside before lifting my shirt over my head. I blinked, dazed as the feeling of being zapped from the inside didn’t seem to end. Tony took off my bra and pants, my underwear too. I didn’t know where he’d put them, but soon after, he put me in his lap and started kissing me again. His hands were really warm as they slid over my hips and pulled me down onto him. I gasp. My stomach trembled as I felt him thrusting into me.
He hushed me and pulled me close. I slumped against him, unable to hold myself up or pull away. He lifted me up and down, thrusting into me, until I could barely breathe.
I passed out sometime in the middle.
Tony
I came and lifted Lucy off my cock gently. Some of my irritation started to fade as we crossed the border. I’d have to thank the dragon shifters somehow for helping me find her. A barricade rose out of the distance with several people manning the line. Our beta stopped the car and rolled down the window.
“We’re monitoring all traffic out of the area due to a missing person’s report,” the man said. “I need your ID and information.”
I rolled down my window. “Alpha Tony of the Blue Moon Pack, and we’ve found her.”
His eyes brightened as he seemed to recognize me. “Ah, sorry to delay you. Do you need an envoy to escort you?”
I frowned. “Why would I?”
“You’ll… be passing through Black and Blood Moon Territory on this highway.”
I grit my teeth. “Is there another route we can take?”
He hummed and looked up. “You could take the mountain path. That cuts from our territory to yours but it’s longer.”
“How much longer?”
“About six hours.”
I cursed. “That’s too long. If you are offering, we’ll take the envoy.”
He nodded. “Just a moment.”
I rolled up the window, pulling her closer to me. The irritation was rising again. I skimmed my hand over her hip. If only she were awake, we could have sex again. I was surprised to find her so tired, considering it had been hours since she’d gone missing. She didn’t smell like poison anymore.
Soon, we were moving again, and two dragons floated overhead, guiding us down the highway. They were so dark they practically blended in with the night sky.
Soon, we passed through Black Moon Territory, then, Blood Moon. As we passed into Blue Moon territory, a soft sound shot through the air and the dragons turned around, heading back down the highway the way we came.
Our beta called the Estate to let them know we would be arriving soon. As we pulled to a stop, Lucy started to stir again. Matt came downstairs, half dressed as if he had gotten out of bed just to come downstairs.
I got out of the car and carried Lucy with me. I handed him the bag of her clothing.
“Get these to the doctor in case there’s evidence on them. I’ll meet you upstairs.”
He looked between me and Lucy before nodding. He took the bag and turned. Our beta stepped in and took the bag.
“Perhaps instead, you could let me do a bit more work, and you two could focus on your mate, hm?”
He pushed us toward the center staircase. Everyone was hurrying around and looking nervous, but Matt and I headed up the stairs. The air had been cleared. I guess the doctor’s witch friend had done a little more work than I had planned to hire her for. The window to my room was open, letting in fresh air. I Walked into the bathroom, and Matt followed just behind me, turning on the water.
“It’s a little unfair that you got to have sex with her alone,” Matt said.
“How often have you taken advantage of me being away to have her all to yourself?”
He laughed at that as he poured in scented soap, and I lowered Lucy into the tub with me. She didn’t wake, but she let out a soft sigh as we settled in the warm water.
“Did you find anything about what’s been going on?”
Matt shook his head. “Nanny had me cozied away on a bunch of pillows and drinking soup. I passed out maybe ten minutes after you left.”
I laughed. “It serves you right.”
Matt glanced at me as I grabbed a wash cloth and started to wash Lucy gently. The dirt on her face washed away easily. There was a rash on her shoulder, but it looked like it was going away.
“Poison Ivy?” Matt asked, looking at it. “Odd for a werewolf to have allergies like that…”
“She’s a half-breed,” I said. “There’s… no telling how much of what we know is useful when it comes to her.”
He sighed. “Makes you wonder if we’ve been doing something wrong all this time.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Do you think that werewolf mates can be turned without losing their minds?”
I went still and blinked at him. I thought back to Peter. “I… never thought about it.”
I looked down at Lucy. “Her mother would have… had a very hard pregnancy if she was human.”
Matt sighed. “I wish we knew who her parents were.”
“What good would it do?” I asked. “They’re probably dead.”
Matt bobbed his head. “Do you think she remembers them at all?”
I looked down at Lucy. Her eyelashes fluttered as her eyes darted around behind her eyelids.
“I guess only time will tell.”
Her brow furrowed and she grunted before she turned her head and her eyes began to open.
