Chapter 21 - The Spells
Dominick held Kaleigh's hand on one side, and Felicia held her hand on the other. Kaleigh did not mind; Skylar told her she could feel her nervousness despite Felicia's brave front. She was probably holding Kaleigh's hand to give herself strength. Alannah followed behind the three young people with a smile on her face. She could tell Felicia had taken to Kaleigh right away; she thought Kaleigh would be good for her. Kaleigh was so calm, and without even trying, she was able to calm Felicia's over-exuberance.
Alannah could tell that when she and Dillon stepped down to hand the reigns over to Dominick and Kaleigh, they would be a powerful couple that would lead this pack to greatness. They all got very quiet as they approached the dungeon deep in the forest. No one liked the dungeon and did not want to be there if they didn't have to be. However, what kept them quiet right now was the task they were getting ready to complete. All four were nervous for different reasons, but none of them would back out of their part of the plan. Amber was the only prisoner currently in the dungeon, so Dominick told the guards to leave and not return until he mindlinked them. They both looked confused when they saw the little group but nodded before heading toward the packhouse.

"Okay, everyone, I will place the sleeping spell now. Does anyone have any last questions or concerns?" Kaleigh could feel the nervous energy from everyone, but they all also looked very determined. Alannah, Dominick, and Felicia looked at each other before turning back at Kaleigh.

"No, Kaleigh, we all know our parts, and we are ready to go." Alannah spoke for them all.

"Alright then. I need everyone to stand behind me and be very quiet. You may not hear anything from me, so I will let you know when I am done with the first spell." They all nodded and moved away from her to stand several yards behind her.

Kaleigh took a deep breath and raised her hands towards the dungeon door. She chanted in a very soft voice, the others could hear something, but it was like a whisper in the wind. If they could have seen Kaleighs' eyes, they were now glowing a bright green. The greenstone inside of the charm on her necklace was also glowing the same bright green.

Kaleigh was cautious of the words that she chose because, for this to work, only Amber needed to sleep, leaving her wolf awake. She continued chanting with her hands raised. Kaleigh could feel Amber's energy and tell the spell was starting to take effect. She could also feel Amber's confusion about why she suddenly felt so tired. Kaleigh kept the chanting until she felt Amber's energy was almost gone, knowing she was in a deep sleep.

When she turned back towards the others, they all three gasped. Kaleigh's eyes were still glowing bright green and it kind of made them all a little scared. Even Alannah, a fellow witch, had never seen such a thing. Her eyes did not change when she did spells other than getting a little darker, but Kaleigh's were glowing.
"Okay, she is asleep. I am sorry I did not warn you about my eyes. Those of us from Emerald Stone who carry the sacred stone are connected to it. So when we perform spells, the stone and our eyes glow in unison. We draw our energy from the stone; that is why we have some powers that other covens do not." As her eyes returned to their normal emerald color, Dominick found his voice

"Kaleigh, I have to admit you scared me there for a minute; you looked like something out of this world. Your eyes were glowing, but your face had also changed into something that was almost unreal. Scary but beautiful at the same time, I can't even describe what I was seeing." He was speaking in total awe. Dominick was proud of his new mate, she was a total badass, and she was all his. He ran the few steps up to her and kissed her deeply, not able to help himself. He did not even care that his mother and sister were standing there.

"Ugh, get a room. That was worse than seeing Kaleigh a few minutes ago. I am not naive, but I don't want to think about what you too do behind closed doors, so can we get a move on it." Felicia was acting disgusted, but in reality, she loved Kaleigh and her brother both. She was also glad that her brother had such an awesome mate, someone she could be friends with.

"Alright, munchkin, go do your little part and try not to mess up." Dominick rubbed his hand on his sister's head, messing up her hair like he did when they were younger, making her mad.

"I am not a child anymore. I am sixteen, so stop treating me like I am twelve, or I will have Kaleigh place a binding spell on you so you can't move while I kick your butt." She put her hands on her hips, trying to look serious, but the rest of them laughed.

"Okay, you two, that is enough. We have serious things to take care of now." They all looked to Kaleigh for direction. She was glad that Dom and Felicia had lightened the mood before they went to a dark place; they all needed that little laugh.

"Dom, you stay out here, and no matter what, do not come in, distract us or try to mindlink anyone." Dominick nodded his head, even though he was not happy being left on the outside.

"Alannah, Felicia, are you two ready?" They both nodded and started following her to the dungeon door.

Kaleigh pushed the doors open and was greeted with the foul stench of body odor and waste. Even though it was dark, her wolf vision took over, and she could see everything clearly. Luckily they did not have to go very far; Amber was in the second cell on their right.

The place gave them all the chills. It was what you would typically expect a dungeon to look like. The walls were stone, and it was partially underground, so it would be difficult for outsiders to stumble upon it. There were cold dirt floors and no light. Anyone locked up here was expected to use a bucket if they needed to use the restroom, and it was only emptied every few days. The bars of the cell doors were made of silver; however, Kaleigh was able to open the door with a flick of her wrist. She could feel her power getting stronger now that she did not have to hide it anymore. Skylar felt it too, and was getting excited. It was like they had been trapped for the last fourteen years since her parents died. Now they could break free and find their true potential.

Amber was lying on the dirt floor in the center of the small cell as if she had collapsed. Her bucket had obviously not been emptied since she was placed here yesterday because the smell was overpowering. Kaleigh moved Amber so that the top of her head was towards the cell door where Felicia would stand. She gently laid her arms at her sides. She and Alannah took their positions near Amber's hips so that the three of them were making a triangle but still within reach as they would need to hold hands.

"Okay, ladies, we each know our parts. Hopefully, this will not take long, but just remember your part and what to do. I am going to start the spell. Alannah, you can join me. Felicia keep sending out the positive energy. We will hold hands completing the triangle so that our energy will be focused on Amber's body. Let's take each other's hands now. No matter what changes you see come over me, please do not be scared; just continue with your mission, and it will all be over soon." Alannah and Felicia nodded their understanding, neither of them wanting to talk. They thought their voices would change the atmosphere in the cell, and they did not want to affect what Kaleigh was doing. They watched as Kaleigh looked down at Amber and chanted again in that whispery voice.
After a few minutes, Alannah joined in with her, both of them speaking so softly that Felicia could not hear their words. She watched as her mother's eyes became a little darker than her usual golden brown, but there were no other changes in her. On the other side, Kaleigh's eyes were glowing bright green again. The stone inside Kaleigh's charm was shining so bright that it lit the cell up in an eerie green.

That was not the most astounding thing; however, Kaleigh's face transformed until it was like she was not the same person. Felicia could not take her eyes off her while she continued sending out positive energy and holding both of their hands. Kaleigh seemed like something that was not of this world. Her face seemed fuller, but her skin was almost translucent, her hair was the same reddish-blonde, but it seemed brighter. Felicia could feel the power radiating off of Kaleigh, and it was much more than what she had ever felt from her mom when she did spells. Even if she tried to explain this to someone, it would be difficult to give them the full picture of what she was witnessing. She didn't even believe it herself.
