Chapter 10 - The Rogues
Jasmine and Brandie had been going to the meadow to practice their magic daily. Aaron and Titus took turns going with them because they didn't want anyone sneaking up on them while they were distracted. That's what they told the twins anyway. They really liked being witness to the power their mates portrayed.

Titus was watching the twins as they practiced in human form. They go back and forth between human and wolf. There were times when they were in human form, and their wolves would mix their magic with their human to increase their power. Titus was still amazed watching the sisters even though this had gone on for a couple of weeks.

He knew they would be done soon but still walked the perimeter, ensuring nothing was hiding out there. When he was almost back to the starting point, he picked up an unknown scent. Titus stayed where he was so he could see where the scent was coming from, and then he took off running.

When he was a few yards away from the meadow, he slowed down and sniffed the air. He was closer, and he could tell they were rogue werewolves.

He moved slowly, trying to sneak up on them to see what they were doing. As Titus got closer, he could hear them talking, and it sounded like there were at least three of them. He stopped so he could listen to what they were saying. He also quickly mindlinked Brandie to tell her what was happening and to stay in the meadow until he returned.

"I don't like this, Todd. This pack is powerful. They have those witches. Maybe we should change our minds and leave."

"Gavin, stop being a coward. We're getting a lot of money to spy on this pack and report what they're doing. We just have to infiltrate and blend in with their pack members. They're big enough, so they won't even notice a couple more mouths to feed."

"I don't know, Todd; I agree with Gavin. This is risky because this pack is not average. Not only do they have the witches, but they also have some vampires, werebears, and werecats living here. Don't you think one of them will pick up on our intentions?"

"Charlie, not you too. Am I surrounded by fools?"

Titus shook his head at these rogues. He mindlinked Aaron and told him to send some warriors to him so they could round them up for questioning. They were idiots. He was standing almost within their vision, and they still hadn't picked up his scent.

When the warriors got to him, Titus motioned for them to spread out to come at them from all sides. They hadn't moved from their positions and were too busy arguing even to notice they were surrounded. The warriors all came out from their hiding spots at the same time and rounded up the three rogues without any trouble.

"Take them to the dungeon. The Alpha and I will be there soon to question them." As Titus was heading back to the meadow, he got a mindlink from Brandie to come quick. He ran back to the meadow like the wind and growled at what he saw.

Ten rogues were surrounding Brandie and Jasmine. He was getting ready to run to them and help them fight the rogues when the twins began chanting rapidly. As Titus watched, the rogues looked like they were in pain and couldn't move. The twins then started to fight them. Titus had never seen the twins fight, and neither of them participated in training because they needed to practice their magic.

What he saw was a fighting technique he had never seen before. The twins were moving so rapidly around the circle of rogues Titus almost felt dizzy. As they moved, they were flipping and kicking them one by one knocking the rogues down. Titus mindlinked Aaron and told him to come to the meadow as quickly as possible; their mates were doing something unbelievable again.

Aaron was almost there anyway, and when he got Titus' mindlink, he picked up the pace. He came into the meadow next to Titus and was getting ready to run to the twins to help them. However, as he watched, he was just as stunned at Titus.

"Aaron, have you ever seen anything like that before?" Aaron couldn't speak as he watched Jasmine and Brandie finish off the last of the Rogues. They were all on the ground, groaning in pain. Aaron mindlinked some warriors to come and take the rogues to the dungeon. Brandie and Jasmine walked up to their mates, both of them laughing, and neither had a scratch on them.

"Well, did you both enjoy the show?" Jasmine asked with amusement at their reactions.

"Where did you learn to fight like that? I have never seen anything like it." Brandie and Jasmine looked at each other and smiled at Aaron's question.

"Our mother taught us. Her mother was a witch and didn't know how to do the typical wolf fighting, but she was very acrobatic. So she took her skills and taught herself how to use them in a fight. Our grandmother taught our mother, and she taught us." Brandie walked over to Titus and kissed his cheek.
"That was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, second only to your magic. You two are too much for words." Titus was just getting used to his mate having powerful magic, and now she could fight most likely better than anyone in the pack. He wanted to kiss the Moon Goddesses' feet for making Brandie his mate.

The warriors came and took the rogues to the dungeon. Most were limping, but some couldn't walk, so the warriors dragged them. The two couples followed behind.

"Those rogues came out right after you left Titus, and they tried to surround us. They said they were there to take us to someone who requested our presence. They wouldn't say who, though. We attempted to question them, but they laughed and said they wouldn't answer to any weak women. That's when we put a spell on them and fought them. Can we question them now? I'd like to know if this was the being's doing or someone else."

As bad as they had heard the being was, Brandie was hoping he had hired the rogues to come after them. She didn't want there to be someone or something else out there as well.

"That's where we're going now. I would tell you to let Aaron and I handle it but seeing how you two fought them; it will be good for their egos to face the two women who took down ten rogues. They're fools for calling you weak; you're the strongest person I know." Titus put his arm around Brandie and kissed the top of her head. Every day she gave him another reason to be more proud of her and to love her even more than he already did.

When they got to the dungeon, Aaron and Titus checked out the thirteen rogues, trying to find one that would talk. Titus recognized the three he had watched arguing and pointed to the one. The warrior with them snatched up the rogue and dragged him to the room they used for questioning at the end of the cells. He was thrown into a chair, and Aaron, Titus, Jasmine, and Brandie walked in, closing the door behind them.

"Gavin, why don't you tell us why you came here and why you were trying to kidnap our mates?" Gavin's eyes widened when he heard Titus say his name.

"How did you know my name?" Gavin asked quietly.

"I overheard you arguing with the others, and you said you didn't think you should be here. Who sent you?" Titus asked him sternly.

"I honestly don't know. Todd said that someone was paying us a lot of money to kidnap the twins and for the three of us to infiltrate the pack as spies. I don't know what they wanted to do with them." Gavin looked down at his hands. He didn't like doing things to hurt others and didn't choose to be a rogue. He would like to join a pack and feel a sense of family for once in his life.

"Do you think Todd will talk to us?" Aaron asked Gavin. He could tell Gavin wasn't the typical rogue and thought he might give him a chance to redeem himself.

"He may. He's scared of witches, so having the twins talk to him might be better." Titus and Aaron looked at their mates, who both nodded.

"Alright. Thanks, Gavin. When you go back, tell them you didn't tell us anything, okay?" Gavin nodded and followed the warrior out of the room back to his cell.

"I don't think that kid wants to be a rogue. He seems very gentle, and his aura is not black like many rogues with bad intentions." Jasmine spoke quietly to Aaron.

"I agree with you, Jasmine. We'll take him out of here and see what he wants. We may give him a chance if he wants to join our pack." Aaron smiled at his mate. She had a good heart.

The warrior returned with Todd, and when Todd saw the twins, he tried to run. The warrior was holding him too tight to go anywhere, though. Jasmine and Brandie walked over to Todd and began a little chant, just enough to make their eyes glow green.

Todd watched in horror as the witches chanted a spell. He knew there were putting a spell on him for some reason but didn't know why. Todd started screaming and tried to stand up.

"Tell the witches to stop the spell, and I'll tell you whatever you want to know." Todd was shaking in his seat while staring at the glowing green eyes in front of him. Aaron walked over to Todd and looked down at him.

"I'll tell them to stop after you tell us who sent you here."

"A woman approached me a few days ago and said to round up as many rogues as possible. She said she needed three of us to pretend to be members of your pack, and the rest needed to kidnap the witch twins. She paid us a lot of money, so I agreed. I don't know who she was, but she was very odd. It was almost like she appeared from nowhere. That's all I know." Aaron believed him, so he motioned for the warriors to take him back.

"It's hard to tell if this was the being or something else. From now on, we're going to be even more careful when you're practicing magic. I want some warriors to be out there too. I'm not taking the risk of either of you getting kidnapped." Aaron looked at the twins, and they both nodded at him. Whatever sent the rogues, they got too close for comfort today.
